The time available for recording varies depending on the environment, the interval between recordings, and the manner of use. • Actual recordable time is the time available for recording when repeating actions such as switching the power supply [ON]/[OFF], starting/stopping recording, zoom operation etc. • Motion pictures can be recorded continuously for up to 29 minutes 59 seconds in European PAL areas. • Continuous recording exceeding 4GB or 29 minutes 59 seconds is not possible when recording MP4. Remaining time for continuous recording is displayed on the screen. • The length of recording time depends on the capacity of the SD/SDHC/SDXC Memory Card. • Use a card with SD Speed Class* with "Class 4" or higher when recording videos. * SD Speed Class is the speed standard regarding continuous writing. • The DMC-GF5 is compatible with UHS-I standard SDHC/SDXC Memory Cards. ** Not available in video recording. *** Shooting conditions: 23°C with 50%RH humidity; LCD on; Using a Panasonic SD Memory Card (2 GB); Using the supplied battery; Using the supplied lens; Starting recording 30 seconds after the camera is turned on (When the optical image stabilizer is set to [Normal]); Recording once every 30 seconds with full flash every second recording; Turn the camera off every 10 recordings. The number of recordable pictures decreases in Auto Power LCD mode or Power LCD mode. With eco mode. • CIPA is an abbreviation of “Camera & Imaging Products Association”. Partial restrictions on using Panasonic digital video cameras to play AVCHD motion images recorded with the DMC-GF5. • AVCHD motion images recorded with the image quality set to SH mode (1,280 x 720) cannot be played on AVCHD-compatible digital video cameras. • AVCHD motion images recorded with AVCHD-compatible digital video cameras cannot be played on the DMC-GF5. • More detailed information is available on our support site: http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/dsc About the performance of Face Recognition function Recognition performance varies greatly depending on shooting conditions, i.e., according to factors such as angles, facial expression and lighting, so operation under all conditions cannot be guaranteed. Because the camera searches for faces that are similar to registered faces, there are cases where the faces are not correctly recognized when the registered image and the shooting image varies much. When facial characteristics are similar, particularly between parents and their children or brothers and sisters, the camera may not distinguish the faces. Love Photography ? Unlimited Photographic Expression The DMC-GF5 packs excellent fundamental performance as a digital camera into a compact body to lift your artistic and creative photographic expression to a lofty new level. If you like photography now, you’ll love it more with the DMC-GF5. Actual Size The New Standard for Interchangeable Lens System Cameras -K (Black) 2 -W (White) -R (Red) -T (Brown) -N (Gold) A Breakthrough in Size and Weight: Mirrorless Structure A Digital Design that Delivers Beautiful Images from Corner to Corner The LUMIX G Micro System's mirrorless structure achieves a compact, lightweight body by cutting the flange focal distance almost in half while adopting the same large sensor size as the Four Thirds System to maintain high image quality. LUMIX G lenses are exclusively designed for digital use, so that light can enter only from straight ahead. You get superb rendering, with images that are bright, sharp and vivid all the way to the corners. 35mm format camera system LUMIX G Micro System Light Rays Light Rays Image Sensor (Simulated Image) LUMIX G / LEICA DG lens design Image Sensor (Simulated Image) 35mm camera lens design 3 Versatile Expression Derived from Genuine Quality 4 LUMIX G VARIO 100-300mm / F4.0-5.6 / MEGA O.I.S., 1/1000 sec, F5.6, ISO160 LUMIX G VARIO 7-14mm / F4.0 ASPH., 1/800 sec, F7.1, ISO160 Colorful butterflies at the souvenir shop are captured vividly with the telephoto lens. A shadow stretches from a carriage at sunset, in this random chance shot. Studio lighting creates deep shadows to reveal the emotion behind the eyes. 5 Capture Every Moment with Higher Quality and Faster AF The DMC-GF5 offers true-to-life images with excellent resolution, image rendering and color reproduction performance. Its new sensor and engine ensure satisfaction with images shot at high ISO sensitivity and in dim lighting. High-sensitivity up to ISO12800 Light Speed AF of 0.09 sec AF / MF Settings A combination of the new Live MOS sensor and Venus Engine enables shooting at max. ISO12800 (extended) and delivers sharp, clear images even in low-lit situations. The DMC-GF5 features ultra-high-speed approx. 0.09 second of Light Speed AF* which makes it possible to capture even the fast-moving subject clearly. The Contrast AF system in the DMC-GF5 excels in both accuracy and speed compared to the Phase-difference AF system in digital SLR cameras. The AF / MF mode button lets you quickly change the focus mode to maintain a sharp focus on a moving subject, or manual focus. Noise Reduction System The DMC-GF5 features two types of noise reduction; Multi-process Noise Reduction (MNR) and 3D Noise Reduction (3DNR). This system effectively suppresses noise in high sensitivity image recording.* * The time for focusing on the subject is measured with LUMIX G X VARIO PZ 14-42mm / F3.5-5.6 ASPH. / POWER O.I.S. (H-PS14042) (bundled lens in the DMC-GF5X) to move the lens position to “2m” from “infinity” position. The zoom position is in wide end. Panasonic measurement method. AFS Automatically locks focus while shutter button is half-pressed. AFC Constantly adjusts focus while shutter button is half-pressed. AFF Switches between AFS and AFC according to the subject movement. MF You can set the focus manually. * Not available in video recording. Multi-process Noise Reduction (MNR) MNR applies optimal noise reduction according to the brightness of the parts of the image in both single shooting* and burst shooting.** * At ISO8000 (extended) or higher with 3DNR. ** At ISO3200 or higher. 3D Noise Reduction (3DNR) 3DNR applies optimal noise reduction by differentiating the edge part and the smooth part in the image in single shooting.* * At ISO3200 or higher. 6 12.1-megapixel Live MOS Sensor High-speed Venus Engine The newly developed 12.1-megapixel Live MOS sensor for the DMC-GF5 features high sensitivity signal processing. Each circuit is optimized to minimize noise generation at every level to thoroughly remove noise and achieve superb image quality. The image processor Venus Engine is also renovated for the DMC-GF5. With 3DNR (3D Noise Reduction) and MNR (Multi-process Noise Reduction), both bright area and dark area are reproduced with minimum noise in high sensitivity recording. 7 Freer Expression Enables More Artistic Photos Expressive One Point Color Miniature Effect** Photo Style Star Filter* Retro Impressive Art Dynamic Monochrome Toy Effect Sepia * Star Filter and Soft Focus are not available in video recording. ** Sound will not be recorded with Miniature Effect in Creative Control Mode and approximately 1/10 of the time period is recorded.
