LUXOMAT ® MD10 Operating instructions for MD10 Garden light with integrated 90°PIR motion detector This sensor light for your garden is the perfect security system for the hours of darkness. It is equipped with modern passive infrared technology that detects the heat radiating from a moving object (person, animal, car) in a certain scanned area. As soon as motion is detected, the light switches on automatically. You set the light such that it remains switched on for between around 4 seconds and around 10 minutes. A built-in adjustable daylight sensor switches the motion sensor on when the level of twilight or darkness you want has been reached. This saves energy and extends the service life of the incandescent lamps. Tip: Adjustment should only be carried out by one person to avoid possible faulty switching caused by a second person in the sensor area. Please note: Any motion detected when the light is switched on can restart the set time. If you are inspecting the detection area, please note that human heat radiation differs depending on clothing and weather. The motion sensor may therefore also react differently. 7. Please read through all the instructions before starting the installation process. Adjustable twilight value 2 - 2000 Lux X X X 2. Switch off the power supply during installation. Adjustable detection area 45° horizontal / vertical X X X 3. To install, place light to one side next to earth or wall cable and secure connection box to ground or wall. Then break through one of the cable entries provided, insert supply line and connect to terminal strip. Connect black wire of light to phase and blue wire to neutral wire. Finally, position light above connection box facing your chosen detection area and secure with three screws. Ensure that the light is installed perfectly vertical, as the range is affected if the light is even at a slight inclination. The operating elements below the socket simplify motion sensor operations if the following instructions are observed carefully. - Day and night operation wanted: Turn lux rotary knob (no. 4) of twilight switch clockwise (right) as far as the stop 8. Operating elements / Interior view - Only night operation wanted: Turn lux rotary knob anti-clockwise (left) as far as the end stop. Experiment to determine intermediate values. 3 - Adjustment screw for switching time - You can set the light such that it remains switched on for between 4 seconds and 10 minutes: 4 - Adjustment screw for twilight value 10 minutes: Turn time knob (no. 3) clockwise as far as the end stop. 4 seconds: Anti-clockwise till stop. 5 - Adjustment screw for sensor’s angle of inclination 6. Planning and useful information It is important to know that the sensor integrated in the light reacts more sensitively to motion at a right angle to the detection areas than to motion in the direction of the light. Bearing this in mind, you should choose an installation site that will register high levels of motion at right angles. If it’s windy, trees can trigger faulty switching, particularly if sunshine is followed by cool rain that can cool the air faster. If the motion sensor is exposed to direct sunlight, changes in temperature caused by passing clouds can also lead to faulty switching. In normal operation, larger animals such as dogs and cats can trigger the switching process. The motion sensor cannot distinguish between people and animals, which are also a source of heat. In addition, the motion sensor detects radiation from passing cars. This may be desired if the sensor is to monitor a garage door, for example, but not if it detects passing cars. You should therefore move the sensor to cover the area you want to monitor by adjusting the angle of inclination (no. 5). When commissioning, move around the area repeatedly to ensure that the light only switches on when it detects motion in the desired area. 1 1 - Screws to secure the socket 2 - Incandescent lamp holder 6 - Photo cell / twilight sensor of motion detector 230 VAC 6 230 VAC MD10-90/M 50W 120W/E27 +6 -10 % MD10-90/M 50W 120W/E27 2 +6 -10 % 1 1 METER 4 + 3 5 METER + The angle of inclination is decisive for the range.
