Taking a reading
The handheld MAC050 meter assists in temperature readings of hard-to-reach or moving industrial machinery.
Press and hold the trigger. The thermometer will power up and the laser will be visible (unless in contact mode). After releasing the trigger, the MAC050 will display the last reading and automatically turn off after 10 seconds. For extended measurement time simply hold down the trigger and the unit will stay in scan mode.
Using laser sighting, MAC050 enables users to safely take readings from critical machinery like pumps, motors, fans and bearings. A K-type thermocouple probe is supplied for applications where emissivity is unknown.
Safety considerations Never point the laser beam at someone’s eyes or look directly into the beam. Use caution when measuring a shiny surface so the laser does not reflect back into your or someone else’s eyes. Do not touch the lens to foreign objects. Do not expose the unit to damp environments for extended periods of time.
Maintenance and care The MAC050 is powered by a 9 volt alkaline battery (included). Replace the battery when the low battery indicator appears on the LCD by removing the battery compartment cover. Clean the surface and optical lens with a damp cloth.
Service and warranty The MAC050 is covered by a 3 year warranty, in the unlikely case of malfunction, please email
[email protected] for an RMA number.

Measurement modes The selector switch is located inside the battery compartment in the handle. Position the switch to the left for non-contact measurements (IR) or to the right for contact measurements (K). Infrared (IR) mode
1. Set the IR/K switch to IR (left). 2. Hold down the trigger to turn the unit on. 3. Align the laser with the target, holding the front of the meter at least 9 inches from the target (spot size will be 1 inch when 9 inches away). 4. Read the temperature on the LCD.
Thermocouple (K) mode
A K-type probe must be connected to the K-type connector or the thermometer will display OPEN when the trigger is pulled. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.
Set the IR/K switch to K (right). Connect the thermocouple probe to the input jack on the bottom of the handle. Hold down the trigger to turn the unit on. Touch the thermocouple to the item under test. Read the temperature on the LCD screen. K °C
Selecting F or C
IR
°F
Acces the selector switch located above the battery compartment in the handle. Position the switch to the left for Celsius or to the right for Fahrenheit.
Recall last reading To recall the last reading before the unit powered off, quickly press and release the trigger. The last reading will be displayed for an additional 10 seconds.
