MAGIC AC1 XIP ISDN ● IP ● X.21 Audio Codecs Configuration & Operation With the Windows PC Software With Front Keypad and Display 20 Configuration with Windows PC Software Installation and Software Updates Windows PC Software – Main window Selecting the line mode Configuring the Audio interfaces Configuring the Auto transmission modes User Transmission Modes 21 y Install the MAGIC AC1 XIP Software from the CD which is included in the delivery and start the application y PC connection via RS232 ƒ Connect the RS232 interface of the Audio Codecs with the COM Port of the PC y Or preferably PC connection via LAN ƒ Connect the LAN interface of the Audio Codec with the LAN Interface of the PC y Software settings see next page Installation and Software Updates (1) 22 y To get a connection to the system the correct settings need to be entered in the submenu CONFIGURATION – CONTROL INTERFACE CONFIGURATION ƒ For a RS232 connection: x Select RS232 under INTERFACE x Select the COM Port of the connected PCs under PORT x Select the correct baud rate under MODE ƒ For a LAN connection: x Select LAN (UDP) under INTERFACE and select which network interface of the connected PC is used (if several are available) x Enter the IP address of the system under IP ADDRESS and the control port under PORT ◦ To check the currently allocated IP address of system, just press the right telephone button on the front keypad twice Installation and Software Updates (2) 23 y Software Download ƒ New software can be found on our website under www.avt-nbg.de  Download  Software ƒ New Software Release consists of: x Firmware and PC Software ƒ PC Software and firmware are installed by executing the SETUP programme ƒ The firmware can then be loaded on the Audio Codec via the RS232 or the LAN interface ƒ If the PC Software displays an error message that the firmware is not matching, you need to do a firmware update ƒ You can check the software versions via HELP  ABOUT MAGIC AC1 XIP Installation and Software Updates (3) 24 y Firmware Download ƒ Go to ADMINISTRATION – FIRMWARE DOWNLOAD via the main menu bar ƒ With BROWSE select the following file from the installation directory x „xip.ssw“ or x „xip2.ssw“ x Remark: The system detects automatically which file is needed and displays it in the entry field ƒ Press START ƒ Afterwards the system is reset Installation and Software Updates (4) 25 Info buttons channel 1 and channel 2 Telephone Book Redialling button Connection status PC – Audioc Codec Click -> opens system monitor Selection/display transmission mode Entry field calling number Mute microphone Level controller for headphones Controller for level ratio transmit/receive signals of the headphones Windows PC Software – Main window (1) 26 Selection/display or the Audio source for signal 1 in transmit direction Selection/display or the Audio source for signal 2 in transmit direction Selection/display or the Audio source for the headphones output Opens the Headphones Monitor Selection/display or the Audio source for the Audio output 1 Selection/display or the Audio source for the Audio output 2 Windows PC Software – Main window (2) 27 y Under CONFIGURATION – MAGIC AC1 XIP – OPERATION SETTINGS – LINE INTERFACE the settings for the line interface have to be made ƒ Select the LINE MODE x x x x x x x ISDN ISDN leased line ISDN leased line (B1 only) ISDN leased line (B2 only) X.21 LAN (Leased Line) LAN/SIP (Dial-up connection) Selecting the line mode (1) 28 y If the line mode ISDN is selected, you need to configure the ISDN settings under OPERATION SETTINGS – ISDN y Select the correct ISDN PROTOCOL for your region y Enter the MSNs for an addressing at the ISDN bus – if required y If the system is connected to main lines ƒ y No further settings required If the system is connected to a PBX ƒ Select the LENGTH OF INTERNAL TELEPHONE NUMBERS (length of extension) ƒ Enter the EXTERNAL PREFIX NUMBER (number to get an outside line) Selecting the line mode (2) - ISDN 29 y If the line mode SIP is selected, the following settings need to be configured under OPERATION SETTINGS – SIP y Select SIP REGISTRATION if a SIP Server is used and enter the following parameters y ƒ USER NAME ƒ USER AUTHENTICATION ƒ SIP PASSWORD ƒ Name or IP address of the SIP SERVER ƒ PROXY SERVER (optional) The option USE STUN SERVER must be only selected if required by your SIP provider ƒ In this case a STUN SERVER must be configured y If the system is connected to main lines, no further settings are required y If the system is connected to a PBX ƒ Select the LENGTH OF INTERNAL TELEPHONE NUMBERS (length of extension) ƒ Enter the EXTERNAL PREFIX NUMBER Selecting the line mode (3) - SIP 30 y If the line mode LAN is selected, the following settings need to be configured under OPERATION SETTINGS – LAN TRANSMISSION MODES ƒ Audio Coding ƒ Decoder Mode ƒ Audio coding parameters ƒ Ancillary Data ƒ Audio Headroom Selecting the line mode (4) - LAN 31 y If the line mode SIP or LAN is selected, additionally the settings under OPERATION SETTINGS – LAN are to be configured ƒ The DECODER BUFFER MODE can be set to AUTOMATIC (if you do not know your network delay) or you can set it to FIXED and select the size by yourself ƒ ENCODER PACKET SIZE: VoIP is typically using a payload of 20 ms to avoid dropouts x Remark: If you are using the ISO/MPEG Layer 2/3 algorithm, the packet size is fixed internally to 24 ms by default ƒ If your network (provider) offers quality of service (QoS) enter the right values under QUALITY OF SERVICE x The values entered by pressing the DEFAULT SETTINGS button are typically used for VOICE and SIP packets Selecting the line mode (5) – LAN & SIP 32 y Also the settings under SYSTEM SETTINGS – LAN INTERFACE need to be correct for a SIP or LAN transmission y You can activate DHCP if a DNCP Server is available so that the correct settings are allocated automatically to your system y Alternatively, enter the correct IP ADDRESS and SUBNET MASK manually y If you are using an external VoIP provider or a SIP server which is not part of your network you have to enter the DEFAULT GATEWAY y Enter the IP address of your DNS server if you are using host names Selecting the line mode (6) – LAN & SIP 33 y Under SYSTEM SETTINGS – AUDIO INTERFACE the settings for the Audio inputs and outputs can be configured y Select if the Audio input/output should be used in analogue or digital mode ƒ Remark: To use the digital Audio Interface, you need to have the AES/EBU Interface licence y If the input or the output is used in analogue mode, the MAIN NOMINAL LEVEL of the XLR Audio interfaces can be adjusted ƒ The nominal level can be adjusted separately for the input (Level In) and the output (Level Out) within the range of -3 ... +9 dBu in 1 dB steps ƒ The headroom is 6 dB. If you want to have a maximum level of 15 dBu, you need to select 9 dBu as nominal level ƒ The default values are 0 dBu Configuring the Audio Interfaces (1) 34 y If the Audio output is operated digitally, the configuration for the AES/EBU Interface is displayed y Under CLOCK SOURCE OF DIGITAL OUTPUT you need to select the correct clock source for the Audio output ƒ You can choose between the options INTERNAL, EXTERNAL and RECOVERED ƒ If the digital input is used, you should choose the option RECOVERED Configuring the Audio Interfaces (2) 35 y Under TRANSMISSION - PRE DEFINED - ISDN AUTO MODES the default transmission modes for the line mode ISDN can be configured y Under MPEG MODE you can set up the parameters for a 1B as well as for a 2B connection ƒ As coding algorithms you can select MPEG Layer 3 and optionally MPEG Layer 2 and AAC-LD y Under apt-X Mode you can select the parameters for an apt-X transmission ƒ You need to have the optional standard or enhanced apt-X Upgrade to use apt-X Configuring the Auto Transmission Modes (1) 36 y Under TRANSMISSION - PRE DEFINED – SIP AUTO MODES the default transmission modes for the line mode ISDN can be configured y Under MPEG MODE you can set up the parameters for a MPEG connection ƒ As coding algorithms you can select MPEG Layer 3 and optionally MPEG Layer 2 and AAC-LD y Under apt-X Mode you can select the parameters for an apt-X transmission ƒ You need to have the optional standard or enhanced apt-X Upgrade to use apt-X y For the SIP line mode you can additionally define the parameters for a PCM connection Configuring the Auto Transmission Modes (2) 37 y With the OPTION ENCODER FOLLOWS DECODER ON INCOMING CALLS you make sure that the encoder works with the same settings (such as e.g. Audio codec algorithm and sampling frequency) as the decoder ƒ Remark: Since some codecs only allow the same parameters in transmit and receive direction, this setting should be always enabled to guarantee maximum compatibility y This setting only refers to incoming calls. If you establish a connection yourself, you can select different parameters for Encoder and Decoder if the called end support this configuration. Configuring the Auto Transmission Modes (3) 38 y Under TRANSMISSION – USER DEFINED you can create your own transmission modes separately for the ISDN and the SIP line mode ƒ Click on ADD to create a new transmission mode ƒ You need to select your desired LINE INTERFACE (SIP or ISDN) and enter a NAME for the transmission mode ƒ After clicking on OK the configuration dialogue is displayed ƒ Transmission Modes can also be exported and imported so that they do not have to be created for each system again User Transmission Modes (1) 39 y The settings below can be configured for a user defined ISDN transmission mode ƒ Signalling (e.g. J.52, OFF) ƒ Audio Coding in transmit direction ƒ Audio Coding in receive direction (only with J.52 signalling) ƒ Bit inversion ƒ Number of B channels in use x If you select a 1 B channel connection, a second connection with telephone or G.722 coding can be defined under CONNECTION 2 ƒ Audio coding parameters ƒ Ancillary Data ƒ Data Channel ƒ Mixer Presets ƒ Audio Headroom User Transmission Modes (2) 40 y The settings below can be configured for a user defined SIP transmission mode ƒ Audio Coding in transmit direction x The same Audio coding is automatically set for the receive direction ƒ Audio coding parameters ƒ Ancillary Data ƒ Mixer Presets ƒ Audio Headroom User Transmission Modes (3) 41 Operation with Windows PC Software Establishing a connection Operation during a connection Dropping a connection Accepting an incoming call Selecting the transmission mode for the next call Comfort functions Audio Mixer 42 y To establish an ISDN connection, first the desired transmission mode need to be selected by clicking on the button on top of the entry field for the telephone number ƒ By default the following modes are available: x x x x TELEPHONE 7 kHz (Auto) AUTO 1B AUTO 2B ƒ The selected mode is displayed on the button y Now you need to enter the desired calling number into the entry field and click on the CALL button of the line on which the connection is to be established Establishing a connection (1) 43 y The connection is now being established ƒ CALL button changes to CALLING ƒ If the called partner is stored in the telephone book, the name is displayed on the INFO button; otherwise only the number is displayed y As soon as the partner accepts the call, the codec tries to synchronise in the selected Audio mode ƒ CALLING button changes to CONNECT   y After the synchronisation has been successful, the connection information is displayed below the INFO field y To establish a second connection (only possible if the first connection is a telephone, 7-kHz or Auto 1B connection), please proceed as described before just with using the CALL button of the unused line Establishing a connection (2) 44 y In the SIP line mode the remote side can be called using the IP address or – if a SIP Server is available – via the telephone number of the remote side y The steps for established a connection are identical to those in the ISDN line mode ƒ Remark: In the SIP line mode, only one connection can be established Establishing a connection (3) 45 y During a connection the following the following settings can be changed ƒ Setting the levels for x Rx/Tx Ratio x Phones ƒ MUTE MICRO ƒ Configuring the Audio sources, adjusting the levels and switching the Mixer Presets (if configured) x Send CH. 1/2 x PHONES OUT x AUDIO OUT 1/2 ƒ Changing the connection parameters -> Click on the INFO button x Attention: Systems from different manufacturers might not be able to handle this and drop the connection Operation during a connection 46 y To drop a connection, just click on the DROP button of the respective line Dropping a connection 47 y An incoming call is signalled by yellow blinking ACCEPT/DROP buttons y If you want to accept the call, press the ACCEPT button y If you want to reject the call, press the DROP button y If the calling partner is already stored in the telephone book, the name is displayed on the INFO button; otherwise only the number is displayed (if it is transmitted) y To accept incoming calls automatically, you can activate the option ENABLE AUTO ANSWER under OPERATION SETTINGS – LINE MODE Accepting an incoming call 48 y If no connection is established, you can select a user defined transmission mode for the next incoming call y Auto Modes are automatically detected and synchronised y In the configuration (CONFIGURATION – TRANSMISSION) you can also define ƒ A default transmission mode after a connection has been disconnection (AUDIO MODE AFTER DISCONNECT) ƒ A default transmission mode after the system has been connected to power (AUDIO MODE AFTER POWER UP) Selecting the transmission mode for the next call 49 y Mute microphone of the handset/headset ƒ To mute the microphone, press the MUTE MICRO button -> the button will be displayed in red ƒ To switch on the microphone, press the MUTE MICRO button a second time Comfort Functions (1) 50 y Using the telephone book ƒ The telephone book can be opened by clicking on the telephone book button in the main window of the PC Software ƒ To create a new entry, press NEW ƒ Under NAME you need to enter the partner’s name ƒ Together with the telephone number, you can also save the transmission mode for the entry ƒ Select a LINE INTERFACE ƒ Under CALL MODE/NUMBER 1 enter the desired transmission mode and the telephone number x If you selected ISDN as LINE INTERFACE and a CALL MODE that needs only one B channel, you can also define a second connection ƒ Press OK to save the entry Comfort Functions (2) 51 ƒ To search for a telephone book entry, just enter the name or the number in the SEARCH field or use the scroll bar to search the entries ƒ To edit the selected entry, press EDIT ƒ To delete the selected entry, press DELETE ƒ To establish a connection with the selected entry, press CALL ƒ To leave the telephone book without any further action, press CLOSE Comfort Functions (3) 52 y Redialling function ƒ Via the redialling button you can display the last 10 dialled telephone numbers together with the corresponding transmission modes ƒ To establish a connection, just click on the desired number ƒ To leave the redialling function without calling a number, press CANCEL Comfort Functions (4) 53 y Creating Presets ƒ The following settings of a configuration can be saved as Preset x All settings under Operation Settings x Pre Defined Transmission Modes ƒ To save your current configuration as Preset, go to the menu bar in the main window and click on CONFIGURATION – PRESETS – SAVE AS… ƒ A window is displayed where you can enter the Preset name x Maximum eight characters;
