The D unit incorporates an audio decoder for one stereo or two Mono signals according to ISO/MPEG Layer II/III; the DD unit has in addition to the above a demultiplexer function; the DDC unit has both the demultiplexer and a 7-kHz command channel; a 7-kHz unit is available and finally a multiplexer. E1/T1, X.21 and ISDN 2 x So Modules are available to give access to 2-Mbit/s, T1 and ISDN networks. Function The MAGIC Compact i2 Series operate completely in accordance with the new ITU-T J.52 Audio transmission Standard. This is true for all variants of the MAGIC Compact i2 Series equipped with the 2-Mbit/s or ISDN Modules. The network interface Modules can be used separately or together for ISDN back-up solutions. The basic units support analogue interfaces for the audio signal. Also, with the AES/EBU Module a digital interface for the audio signal is available. The inverse multiplexing function of the basic demultiplexer compensates the delay of the four B channels. For experienced users a control software is available which opens access to all possible MAGIC Compact i2 Series features such as Remote Control, Software Download, Control of external equipment and so on. • E1, T1, X.21 Module For 2-Mbit/s and X.21 network connections a E1, T1, X.21 Module has to be used. This is needed for the transmission of more than one audio signal over a single line.
