Selene 53 . Rather than simply build an extended version of the 53', they designed a completely new hull and structure, enlarged the displacement and interior volume in a luxury three stateroom layout. She features increased beam, freeboard, and a deeper hull, making her living space substantial and increasing headroom in all areas. The hull of the Selene 57' is a displacement motor yacht and has been rigorously tank tested at the SSSI to provide optimal hydrodynamic performance for long range ocean passage-making. A single Cummins QSM11 pushes this little ship at a cruise of 8.5 knots with a 2000+ NM range; the owner elected to add a small get home Yanmar which has only been used once. A keel provides directional stability, helps damp roll and protects the prop and rudder. This Selene has exceptional range, speed, and fuel consumption, giving a longer journey in more comfort. "Manitou" has awlgripped flag blue hull rather than standard gelcoat. Like all Selene yachts, she features fabulous satin-finish teak interior, teak and holly sole, designer finishes, fabrics and fittings as well as high quality European lighting. You'll never want for a convenient and solid handhold aboard the Selene, overhead and in stairways. There are storage cabinets and drawers in every nook and cranny and high fiddles throughout. Throughout this Selene, there are numerous upgrades and customizations.
Vessel Walkthrough As you enter MANITOU via the teak aft cockpit, comfortable bench seating and folding table invite entertaining and dining. The bridge deck overhang provides protection from the elements. Access to the Lazarette is in-floor and is lockable. A watertight door opens to the salon. Entering into the salon here you find the warmth provided by large windows, beautiful teak cabinetry and trim plus teak and holly sole. The teak cabinet tops have ebony inlay. These features continue throughout the cabin interior. There is an L-shaped upholstered sofa and a large adjustable teak table to port. Starboard, there is a bench style upholstered settee and a bar cabinet which conceals the icemaker. The fully equipped galley is situated forward of the salon with built-in appliances, plenty of storage, overhead wine glass rack, deep double stainless sinks and ample countertops. Extras like an oven, dishwasher and trash compactor make food preparation and cleanup a pleasure. Forward of the galley, the pilothouse is up three steps with generous centerline helm station and Stidd helm chair. The pilothouse has all the necessary navigational and mechanical equipment and displays, deck access doors to port and starboard and a small refrigerator to make the journey in comfort and safety. Another spacious settee with teak table allows your family or guests to enjoy the travels together in inclement weather. There is a stairway from the salon leading to a small foyer and private entrance to the master stateroom. There is a door to the engine room at the foot of the stairs to the immediate left. It provides ready access to the machinery from the stateroom for the owner and allows the engineer to come and go without disturbing the owner's privacy. The spacious master has an island queen berth, hanging lockers and plenty of storage plus SAT TV and an ensuite head with stall shower. A stairway from the pilothouse leads down to the forward VIP Stateroom with pedestal berth, teak tambour hulls sides, lots of storage and natural light. The 2nd guest stateroom has crossover twin berths plus a large built-in desk and plenty of storage. The guest head with separate stall shower is shared between the two guest staterooms. Up the stairway from the pilothouse to the flybridge, the two Pompanette helm chairs and full array of navigation and electronics is located at the forward helm station. Behind the helm there is an L-shaped settee with Sunbrella cushions and a table. Within easy reach is the BBQ, fridge and sink. The decks are wide and secure moving forward to a Portuguese bridge. There is seating forward with Sunbrella cushions and cover. Two anchors with their own lockers, chain counters and Washdown are ready for deployment. There is also a forward power connection.
Cockpit The cockpit can be accessed from the transom door or side deck doors on either side. This large area is protected by the overhead bridge deck overhang. There is cushioned bench seating and a custom fixed teak table with leaves that expands the surface area. It is a great spot for cocktails or meals while at the dock or at anchor. On the forward port bulkhead is a storage cabinet with drawers. The sole is teak with lockable hatch to the lazarette. Flybridge The flybridge is huge and well laid out to provide comfortable cruising as well as enjoying a wide range of activities when moored.
