November 22, 2011 MGP 464, MGP 464 DI, MGP 464 HD-SDI WindoWall: MGP 464W and MGP 464W DI MGP 462xi, MGP 462xi DI, MGP 462xi HD-SDI TECH NOTES
Firmware upload – During the firmware upload, the unit will not respond to front panel or remote control changes. The upload process will take one minute, at the end of which the video output will be blanked for ten seconds while the unit resets. Do not remove power during the firmware upload process. Save/Restore Configuration Files – Configuration files saved with firmware 1.05 or older cannot be used to restore an MGP running firmware 2.05 or newer. Any critical settings should always be written down before updating the MGP to the latest firmware.

KNOWN ISSUES The following is a list of known firmware issues found in Firmware Version 4.16. Windows are not fully unmuted when recalling another preset during the transition of the previous preset – Recalling a new preset during the transition effect stops the effect for that window. This causes the window to be partially On or Off. This can be corrected by reselecting the input to mute or unmute the window. The aspect ratio for the window and image zoom function is incorrect after changing output resolution – If the output rate of the MGP is switched between a 4:3 and 16:9 output rate, the SIS commands for zoom adjustment snaps the window or image to the wrong aspect ratio. This is not an issue from the front panel control. This will only occur when the output rate of the MGP 464 is changed, and can currently be corrected by selecting a different input, or power cycling the MGP. IP configuration cannot be restored on MGP 462xi – Network configurations saved in ip.cfg files using the control software cannot be restored. All user video settings saved in the box.cfg file can be properly restored. This does not affect the MGP 464 and WindoWall processors.

Fixed the serial port mode command – The CY now functions as documented.
Fixed the “restore” function for current picture control settings for inputs 13-19 – When restoring a configuration, the picture control settings for inputs 13-19 are recalled properly.
Fixed window preset recall of picture control settings – Contrast, brightness, color, tint, and detail are now set correctly when recalling window presets.
Removed glitch when unfreezing interlaced component video inputs – When unfreezing a component video source, a drop in contrast has been eliminated.
Added more valid range to the horizontal and vertical start settings – The horizontal and vertical start adjustments would now allow movement of a low resolution image in the right or down direction. The input sampling can now include more of the blanking area.
Added 50Hz refresh rate selection to webpages – A 50 Hz refresh rate option has been added to the webpages for 1280x768, 1360x765, 1365x768, 1366x768, and 1365x1024 resolutions.

FIRMWARE RELEASE HISTORY Released Version: 1.04 Affects: Firmware Revision: 1.02 or earlier Date(s): Units shipped prior to January 16, 2007 The following is a list of changes and fixes in this release.
Fixed incorrect background image display when using a 1080p DVI background source – The background image colors are now correct on the rightmost quadrant of the output.
Fixed window preset numbers 22, 43, 86, and 107 – The mentioned window preset numbers now hold the preset information correctly if the output rate is the DVI background source.
Fixed input presets saved using inputs 8-19 – Input presets that were saved using inputs 8-19 are now save correctly.
Fixed soft wipe effect flashes – Certain soft wipe effects no longer flash the window before or after the effect, depending on the direction of effect.
Fixed soft wipe effect edge anomalies - The edges for certain soft wipe effects no longer turn to a hard edge when the window is positioned near the edges of the active video area.
Fixed output video flash with repeated mute/unmute or input selection commands – The output video no longer flash if the command to mute/unmute a window or the command to select an already displayed input is sent multiple times.
Fixed a rolling tear when output rate is set to DVI background and input is video played on a PC – The tear occurring when the output rate was set to DVI Background Rate and the input was a PC at the same refresh rate has been eliminated.
Added 50Hz refresh rate to all LCD and plasma rates – A 50 Hz refresh rate option has been added to 1280x768, 1360x765, 1365x768, 1366x768, and 1365x1024 resolutions.
Added SIS command to limit decoder to only detect standard NTSC, PAL, and SECAM – Switching between an NTSC signal without a color burst and one with a color burst caused the output to be black-and-white in both cases. The new SIS command enables and disables the detection of NTSC 4.43 and PAL 3.58, which would cause the output to lose color intermittently.

FIRMWARE RELEASE HISTORY Released Version: 1.02 Affects: Firmware Revision: 1.01 or earlier Date(s): Units shipped prior to April 21, 2006 The following is a list of changes and fixes in this release.
Fixed issues involving the unit rebooting when the image filename is larger than nine characters – Using the SIS command to capture the output image (Esc 0,filename MF) to a filename that is longer than nine characters would no longer cause the unit to reboot.
Added protection against attempts to select a bitmap image that does not have a bit depth of 24 – Selecting an image to be displayed that did not have a bit depth of 24, does not block the selection of another image to be displayed. An error response is now displayed on either the front panel or via remote control, depending on where the command originated.
Added support for NTSC 4.43 – An NTSC signal with a subcarrier frequency of 4.43 MHz is now supported as a valid video signal.
Corrected the internal test patterns for 480p and 576p output rates to display the correct aspect ratios – The aspect ratio test patterns are now correct.
Adjusted 1400x1050 output rate to match the VESA CVT specification – The new rate follows the Proposed VESA Coordinated Video Timings (CVT) specification and is better recognized by newer generation displays.
Changed the crop internal test pattern to be within the active area – The crop pattern is now placed within the active area of the video signal so a properly sized and centered display device will show the white crop lines just within the area of the display. NOTE: This fix is not in the flash updateable firmware. The unit needs to be sent back to Extron for an update.
