Read this manual carefully and store it with the refrigeration unit. Pay particular attention to the sections that emphasize your safety. General information Description of refrigerated display cabinet Our model Galerna is a semi-vertical cabinet specially designed for the sale of fruit and vegetables. Among the multiple options of this cabinet, it is possible to incorporate a humidifier system by ultra sounds, as well as a water system treatment system by reverse osmosis and a UV ray system, in order to improve the quality and minimize the loss of weight of the displayed products. Shop conditions Frost-trol refrigerated display cabinets are designed to operate in air-conditioned areas that maintain an air temperature of 25º C and a maximum relative humidity of 60 % (climate class 3, in accordance with ISO EN 23953-2). The performance of the refrigerated display cabinet is adversely affected when operated under air temperatures and humidity conditions that are higher than those for which they have been designed. Operating the cooling system The condensing unit requires an air temperature of at least 20ºC and a maximum of 30ºC for efficient ventilation of the condenser. The minimum temperature of the condenser should never fall below 20ºC. Receipt of refrigerated cabinet Check the unit carefully to make sure that it is not damaged and no part or accessory is missing. For information about missing parts or accessories please contact the Frost-Trol Commercial Department or our official representative for your country. Galerna 2014-1 2 This refrigerated display cabinet has been thoroughly inspected to ensure the highest level of quality. Any order for components should be made to Frost-Trol or our official representative for your country within 48 hours of receipt of the cabinet. Damage sustained in transit If the cabinet has sustained any damage in transit, then you must make a claim with the Shipping Company immediately, by stating the damage on the delivery note and having this signed by the carrier. Technical assistance Should you have any technical queries concerning the installation of the refrigerated display cabinet or cooling system, please contact our Technical Department. Contacting the factory If you need to get in contact with Frost-Trol with regard to a specific element, please make sure that you are able to quote the model and serial number. This information can be found on the nameplate (see Figure 1), which is located inside the refrigerated display cabinet. Please identify the part via the spare parts page (see Chapter 5). Figure 1. Installation of refrigerated display cabinet Consult the construction manager or the person responsible for the supermarket Consult the Construction Manager or the person responsible for the installation of unit. Ask them to inform you of its installation location or if there are any changes to where it is to be installed. Check that the installation location chosen is suitable. To do this make sure that there is no air flow present, as this could affect the units by blowing hot air into them. The unit must not be installed near air conditioning air discharge openings, ventilators, doors or other machines that, due to their location, could expel warm air from their condensing units into the cabinet or onto its condensing unit. The refrigerated display cabinet must not be installed in places where explosive gases are present. If the chosen location is not suitable for the installation of the cabinet, inform the Construction Manager or the person responsible for the supermarket accordingly, so that they can either specify another location or make the necessary modifications that would make the original location suitable (closure of air vents, removal of ventilators, closure of doors, etc.). During the installation (or while carrying out maintenance) you must always wear proper safety equipments to preserve your security. Unpacking The refrigerated cabinet is protected by plastic wrapping. Remove this and take out the accessories which can be found inside the cabinet: Using a fork-lift truck or pallet-lift, lift the cabinet, remove the wooden or plastic supports and replace them with the plastics bases that can be found inside the cabinet with the other accessories. Packaging materials (plastic bags, nails, screws, polystyrene, etc.) should not be left within reach of children as they pose potential sources of danger. Levelling Use the adjustable bases to level the unit. Poor levelling could result in problems with the defrost-water drainage, which Galerna 2014-1 4 could then freeze and thus cause the unit to break down. Humidifier system (optional) Demineralised (R.O) water must be used for the humidifier and will provide adequate protection against bacteria. The use of plain tap water will lead to faster contamination of the water tank and transducers, which will result in a shorter service life. Moreover, the dissolved calcium and mineral particles in ordinary tap water sill be blown into the area to be humidified together with the fog droplets and will be precipitated in the area. Depending on the hardness of the water, this could cause a layer of dust after only a few days. Ozone generator (optional) As an option, an ozone generator may be included. Ozone only takes effect if the humidification is switched off while the ozone generation is taking place. A programmable timer could be incorporated in the side panel of the humidifier for switching the ozone generator and the humidification on and off. Electrical connection Before plugging into the mains, check that the supply voltage is the same as the voltage indicated on the nameplate. The electricity supply should be adequate for maximum consumption. The assembly, installation and connection of these cabinets must be carried out by a certified technician. Cleaning Before the first use, it’s mandatory to clean the unit thoroughly, both inside and out, with non-abrasive detergents and rinse well with water. Dry the inside with a cloth so that no water remains inside the unit (See chapter 4). Galerna 2014-1 5 Chapter 3. Operation Initial start-up Before starting up the unit, allow at least one hour to pass in order to let the oil levels to stabilise, as they would have been displaced during transportation. Earthing is mandatory according to current legislation, as is providing protection against power surges, short circuits and indirect contacts. Connect the cabinet to the mains and the display (the upper if freezing is selected or the lower when refrigeration is selected) will light up showing two horizontal strips. These indicate that the control is conducting a self-test. After approximately 5 seconds the temperature that has been read by the control will appear on the display and the unit will actuate itself. Check to see if the selected operating temperature is correct by pressing the “SET” button. The selected temperature will appear on the display. If this is correct, then the control will return to its normal position. Should you wish to change the temperature, then select the temperature required using the and buttons and confirm by once again pressing “SET”. Figure 2. Controller. REMEMBER! The control and regulation elements should only be handled by the technical responsible for the installation; limiting the use of shutdown functions, starting up the equipment from the control panel and turning on the lights of the corresponding switches. Allow the machine to reach the required working temperature before use. REMEMBER! Product that you load into the cabinet must always be cooled to at least the cabinet’s conservation temperature. The cabinet is not able to reduce the temperature of products, only conserve them. Parameters setting: All the parameters are grouped in folders in two different levels. Please refer to the controller instruction manual for whole explanation. By keeping pushed the “set” button for more than 5 seconds, the first folder (“CP”) of the first level is shown. With the arrows buttons is possible to scroll down or up to see the other folders. By pressing the “set” button get inside each folder and with the arrows scroll up or down the parameters. By pressing “set” button get the current value of that parameter, with the arrows is possible to change the value and by pushing “set” button confirm the value. Galerna 2014-1 6 The “fnc” button is to escape. To reach the second level of parameters, go to the folder “Cnf”, once inside go to the PA2 parameter, press “set” button and then the first folder (“CP”) of the second level is shown. Proceed as explained above to check/change the parameters. REMEMBER! Please note the following points when loading the cabinet: - Do not exceed the maximum load limit; - Do not obstruct the aspiration grid or air discharge conduits; - Do not load products that have higher temperatures than the cabinet’s operating temperature; - Load the products into the cabinet in such a way that you can ensure good stock rotation; - Empty spaces should be left between products to ensure perfect air circulation around them. Operating the humidifier system The standard factory setting for the flushing cycle is once every hour. This may not be suitable for some applications. In the cases, the flushing cycle can be modified to take place once every two hours or set to no flushing cycle at all. CONNECTIONS AND FUNCTIONS 1 Plug connections for external controls. 2 LED for flushing diagram 3 Dial for setting the humidity 4 LED for humidity setting 5 Dial for setting the airspeed 6 Water outlet ½” free flow-through 7 Water supply ¾”, min.1bar/max.6bar. 8 Mains connection + fuse (230V +/- 10% - 50/60Hz) 9 Timer programming of the ozone generator and humidifier STANDARD CYCLE: The humidifier’s “flushing/alarm” LED will light up every hour. The device will start the flushing cycle: - The fogging will stop. - The water tank will be flushed for approx. 15 seconds (depending on the water pressure). - The water will be discharged. - The humidifier will be re-filled and will restart normal operation. - The green LED will blink while this procedure is taking place. Galerna 2014-1 7 If the humidifier is switched off, the water content will be discharged. SWITCHING ON Check the following before the humidifier is switched on for the first time: - The humidifier is positioned level. - All pipes have been properly connected. - The mains voltage is correct and connected in parallel with any ventilators that are used. - The water discharge and the water supply channel have been well connected. START UP AND FUNCTIONAL TEST - Open the water valve - Set the %RH knob on maximum position - Switch on the power and check if: - o The water runs to the humidifier o The water flow stops after about 60 seconds o The production of mist starts after a few seconds Switch off the power and check if: o The water content is drained away o After about 1 minute the water reservoir is emptied completely - Connect the water drain and check for leakages - Switch on the main supply again - Set the % knob in the desired position - Control if necessary the airspeed with setting 5 During start up and flushing (water filling) of the humidifier the LED “Flushing/alarm” will blink green. This is a normal indication on the humidifier during this procedure. For more information about the settings of the humidifier system and the ozone generator, see its manufacturer‘s manual. Configuration of the ozone generator The standard configuration sets the timer to a default setting of 2 hours of ozone generation at night, between 2 a.m and 4 a.m, while the humidifier is switched off. Galerna 2014-1 8 Chapter 4. Maintenance and cleaning Establish a routine cleaning schedule to ensure an adequate level of hygiene of your cabinet. In this way you will ensure an optimal performance of the cabinet and a longer service life. Unplug the cabinet before performing any form on internal servicing of the unit. Clean the cabinet with non-abrasive detergents. Never use products which contain alcohol, solvents, acetone or chlorine. Do not allow any water to spatter or be sprayed over the unit’s electrical elements. Should this happen, make sure that they are dry before the unit is started up again. RECOMMENDED CLEANING ROUTINE: - Once a week for all external cabinet components; - Every 30 days all internal parts of the cabinet; - Every 90 or 60 days a general cleaning to ensure all remaining ice that has accumulated inside the unit is removed. - Every 30 days clean the condenser. REMEMBER! - Unplug the unit from the mains; - Gloves should be worn to protect hands against cuts or scratches from the unit’s internal elements; Make sure that the drainage holes are not obstructed by any remaining merchandise, as this could impede the drainage of excess water resulting from defrosting. After the cabinet cleaning, rinse and dry it with a nonabrasive dry cloth until no water remains. All surfaces must be well dried before switching on the cabinet. HUMIDIFIER MAINTENANCE Regular maintenance is important or the optimum operation of the humidifier and to maintain hygiene. The maintenance interval of the water reservoir will depend on the quality of the water and the purity of the air that is sucked in. The transducers must be replaced after approximately 20,000 operating hours (i.e. after about 2 years in the case of continuous use). Check the following before starting maintenance or shipping the humidifier: - The mains plug has been removed from the socked ant the ventilator is not moving. - The water supply has been closed. - The water supply pipe has been removed. - The humidity sensor plug has been removed. - The water reservoir is empty and the water discharge hose has been removed. Galerna 2014-1 9 The humidifier remains horizontal while dismantling. Cleaning - Remove the connecting flange. - Clean the reservoir with a soft brush and flush through. Remove the filter from the water inlet. Clean the filter or replace it with a new one. Flush the water discharge with water and clean it with a round brush. OZONE GENERATOR MAINTENANCE The ceramic element must be cleaned once a year: - The humidifier must be disconnected from the mains. - Remove the screws on the side where the timer is located. - Remove the side panel and disconnect the timer. - Remove the 2 Philips screws (bottom and top) from the stainless steel cover plate ( on the black aluminium casing). - Remove the ceramic element from the holder. - Carefully clean the ceramic element on both sides with cleaning spirit or alcohol. - If the vapour-deposited metal on the ceramic element is damaged, replace the ceramic element. - Reassemble in the reverse order. Faults and repairs Malfunctions In the event of malfunction, the operator should take all necessary measures to prevent the products from damage. 1.- The unit won’t start up or it stops: - Check that the electricity supply is sufficient; - Check the status of electrical protection systems. - Check the status of high pressure switch, and reset if necessary. 2.- The unit does not get cold or cold enough: - Check that there is no object blocking the air passage to the condenser; - Check that condenser is free of dust or any other material that could impede air circulation; - Check that the cabinet has been correctly loaded, i.e. the products do not exceed the maximum load limit and the conservation temperature is suitable for the products; - Check that there is no air flow that will affect the operation of the unit. 3- There is not enough humidity. Product loaded is dry. - Check the status of the humidifier water supply. - Adjust the regulation of the humidifier. 4- The humidifier becomes overheated and switch off. Check if: - There is any blockage in the air inlet or outlet - The air intake temperature is too high - The water temperature is too high - The water discharge is blocked - The ambient temperature is too high - Ventilator speed set is too low. In case of malfunctioning, the following information is completely necessary to find the reasons of the trouble and suggest the solution for it: - Cabinet model, serial number and manufacturing date (in the case name plate); - Store conditions (RH in %, room temperature) - If there are any air draughts affecting the cabinet (doors, air conditioners, other plug in cabinets near, etc) (a hand made drawing or photos could be appreciated); - Thermostat setting; Defrost interval; - Defrost endurance time; - End defrost temperature; - State of the fans on defrost cycle (on ? off? ); Galerna 2014-1 15 - Evaporating pressure (measured at the cabinet, on the Schrader valve ); - Supply air temperature (measured at the honeycomb or air grids); - Return air temperature (at the return air grid or glass, depending on the model); - Expansion valve superheat (measured); - State of the liquid sight glasses (full, partially full, empty); - Line voltage measured at the cabinet’s terminal board (for plug in); - Compressor amps (for plug in); - Defrost heaters amps (when it’s mounted). Other details, or photos, that could help will redound to find a quicker solution. Final shutdown We, Frost-trol SA, declare this product is covered by Directive 2002/96/CE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) designed to halt the increase of this type of waste and promote recycling as well as decreasing disposal. The symbol of the crossed-out waste bin that appears on the Nameplate declares: th - that the product was put in circulation after 13 August 2005; - that the product is subject to separate collection and must not be treated like normal domestic waste or sent to dumps for disposal. This cabinet contains refrigerant, polyurethane foam, oil, plastic and metallic, electric and electronic elements. Therefore its destruction or recovery should be carried out in accordance with current legislation at an authorised waste dumping ground. Parts that form the refrigeration circuit must not be cut or separated until the refrigerant has been removed for recovery. Therefore, when the cabinet has reached the end of its working life and thus needs to be removed, the user is required to delivery the product for disposal to the collection centre specified by the local authorities for recovery and recycling of professional WEEE. In the case of trade-in of the old product for a new one, the user can ask the seller to take delivery of the old one, no matter what the brand. The manufacturer is responsible for making recovery, disposal and treatment of its products feasible at the end of their useful life, either directly or via a collective system. Violations of the regulation call for specific sanctions, to be established autonomously by each EU member country with its own legislation, binding equally on all those subject to its laws. Dismantling the cabinet In accordance with the waste disposal regulations in each country and in respect of the environment, please differentiate the parts of the cabinet so as to be able to dispose of them separately or recycle them adequately. None of the parts that make up the cabinet can be disposed of together with urban solid waste, except for the metallic components which, in any case, are not classified as special waste in most European countries. Galerna 2014-1 16 This product contains HFC, fluorated refrigerating gases with high Global Warming Potential, so: Parts that form the refrigeration circuit must not be cut or separated until the refrigerant has been removed for recovery at a specialised centre. Declaration of RoHS conformity We, Frost-trol, S.A. declare under our sole responsibility the refrigerated cabinet complies with the provisions of Directive 2002/96/EEC (RoHS). In all the homogeneous materials used for its production, any content of lead, mercury, hexavalent chrome, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB), and polybrominated diphenil ether (PBDE) does not exceed, in weight 0.1%; that of cadmium does not exceed, in weight 0.01%.
