1. GENERAL PRECAUTIONS
Check that the cooker hood has not been damaged during transport. Do not leave the packaging materials (bags, corner brackets, etc...) within the reach of children. This appliance must only be used by adults. Children must be supervised to ensure they do not play with it. The hood is not for use by people with reduced physical, sensory or mental capacities unless they are specifically instructed by the person responsible for their safety. Children must be controlled to make sure they do not play with the hood. Do not cook “flambéed” products (i.e, generate flames beneath the hood). Do not ignite burners that give off intense, uncontrolled flames beneath the hood. Make sure that no flames emerge from the sides of pans. When frying foods, do not allow the oil to escape from the pan or reheat it, as it could match fire. Before performing any cleaning or maintenance operation, disconnect the hood from the mains using the respective mains or sector switch, a double-pole switch or by unplugging it. If using other appliances that require gas or appliances that consume oxygen from the atmosphere, ensure there is sufficient ventilation. For safe ventilation, the maximum depression level in the premises must not exceed 4 Pa (0.04 mbar) and a hole leading outside the premises must be made in the wall (with the correct diameter and location). Do not use the cooker hood without the aluminium grease filters. Keep the grease filters clean and respect the recommended cleaning frequencies (see MAINTENANCE section). If your hood is being used in recirculation mode, you have to repace your charcoal filters every 50hours use. Turn the hood motor on before starting to cook. Turn the hood motor off about 10 minutes after you finish cooking. It is forbidden to use the hood as an aspirator. Never cook foodstuffs directly over the flame or have the gas burners on under the hood without cooking recipients over them
Electric installation This appliance must be connected to an electricity supply with a ground connection. Check that the installation and electrical connections are made by qualified technicians and that the indicated instructions and local regulations in force are met, using materials that are compliant with the applicable legislation. The company will not be responsible for installations executed by non-qualified staff and installations that fail to heed the applicable legislation on electrical safety (with regard to both modes and materials). The electrical technical data can be found inside the hood, after removing the grease filters. The flexible power cable supplied is already connected internally and emerges from the hood near the air outlet tube. Before installing the electrical connections, you should: • Verify that the indicated electrical data coincide with the voltage values and frequency of the electrical circuit in the house where the hood is to be installed; • Check that the premises have electrical protection against short circuits and electrocution, pursuant to the applicable legislation; • Always switch off the current using the double-pole switch before the connection operations and turn the power on again for normal use only when the operation has been completed.

Pay attention to the opening of the door Condensation in hoods
Problems with condensation (dripping inside the hood) in stainless steel hoods installed with induction and vitro-ceramic hobs can be due to several causes, either separate or taken together. These include use of the hob at full power without pre-heating,improper use or maintenance of the hood and incorrect installation of the flue pipe.. The reason for this condensation effect is that the steel is cold. Starting to cook with the hob at full power means the initial impact of hot steam on the steel is too fast (the steel has not had time to warm up) and this generates condensation and the resulting dripping.This effect is exacerbated with induction rings in particular as they heat up very fast. If, in addition, the flue is not in order, the problem gets much worse because if, for example, the flue is narrower than the manufacturer’s recommendation the steam is not all removed and the remainder stays inside the hood, so that when the hood cools it condenses and causes dripping. This also creates a steam build-up which affects aspiration capacity.

FOSTER spa, takes no responsibility for the proper functioning of its products if they are not connected to a flue pipe of the correct diameter as shown in the table of flue diameters for each motor version. If induction rings, vitro-ceramic hobs and the like are not used correctly they can lead to problems with the condensation of liquids due to temperature differences. After some time in use these condensed liquids can build up and possibly appear on the metal filters or the bottom of the hood.
User advice to avoid condensation in the hood: The hood should be switched on 10 minutes before starting to cook and the timer set after finishing cooking to clear the fumes held in the flue. This will clear it out fully. • Do not cook at full power straight away, i.e. start on low or medium power for a while so that the steel in the bottom of the hood can warm up. • Keep the filters clean, aiming to clean them at least every 10 days, and replace them if they begin to deteriorate. • Have a constant flow of air into the room (ventilation grille, half-open window, etc.) to avoid the creation of a depression which would affect the rate of aspiration. • Follow the advice in the instructions for induction systems as regards the condensation effect

2. TIPS AND SUGGESTIONS The cooker hood has two different modes of operation: Air recirculation: The air is drawn in and cleaned first by the grease filters and then by a charcoal filter. The cleaned air is then recirculated back into the kitchen (check at the warning and safety instructions for the replacement timing Page4) Air extraction: The air is drawn in and cleaned by the grease filters and directed outside (check at the warning and safety instructions for the replacement timing Page 15 For users 1. Do not leave the frying pan or fryer unattended, as the oil could overheat and catch fire. 2. Never flambée any foods beneath the hood. The flames could cause a fire. 3. Before carrying out any operation inside the hood, unplug the appliance from the mains. 4. Respect the cleaning frequencies and intervals for changing the filters, as otherwise the accumulated grease could cause a fire or damage the product. 5. Changes made to the steel surface will render the warranty invalid. For installers 1. Do not reduce the diameter in the cooker hood pipe outlet. 2. Do not reduce the diameter near elbow bends and always ensure this is done on straight sections, far from the hood. 3. Do not make brusque reductions in the pipe length. 4. Try to make as few elbows as possible. If it is necessary to install elbows, ensure they are not bent at sharp angles. 5. Ensure that the fumes outlet is as direct as possible to prevent incorrect air circulation. 6. The fumes outlet pipe diameter must be no less than that of the hood joint. 7. The hood must be located at the correct distance from the work plane, which is no less than: 65 cm in the case of electric cookers 70 cm in the case of gas or combined cookers 8. If the instructions for installing the device for cooking with gas specify a greater distance, this must be borne in mind. 9. The maximum depression admitted by the combustion legislation for this type of environments must not exceed 0.04 mbar for which reason adequate ventilation must be provided. 10. The air aspired by the hood must not be eliminated through the heating chimney or any appliance not supplied with electricity. 11. In addition to the size, the height of the hood is important to obtain the best performance.

3. OPERATION 3. Remote control: 3.1. Starting the hood for the first time using the remote control: Put the safety switch to ON (this switch is inside the hood). Wait about 5 seconds for the circuit to test the memory.
To obtain the best performance, turn on the hood a few minutes before starting to cook and leave it on for at least 10 minutes after you have finished cooking.
The hood has a 4-speed remote control device. The buttons have the following functions: (Valid for all models hoods with Remote except Sky models): A.- ON / OFF button: This button turns the hood on and off. The hood will always be turned on at minimum speed. B.- High-speed button: This button increases the aspiration speed. C.- Low-speed button: This button reduces the aspiration speed. NOTE: To raise and lower the speed always wait for 2 seconds every time you increase and lower the speed. D.- + button: Activates the deferred stop function (after 10 minutes the hood will automatically stop). E.- Button - : Turns the hood lighting on or off. If the remote control fails or the batteries run out, disconnect the hood manually using the safety switch inside the hood, which can be accessed from one of the filters.
REMARK: Replace the charcoal filter when it no longer absorbs kitchen odours, at least every 50 hours.

3.2 Instructions for the use of the remote control in hoods Ala y Wing: A. To Open doors: To open and closed doors. B.- Motor On: To light the cooker hood starting always in the 1st speed, pressing again you increase the speed. C.- To reduce speed: To reduce the speed up to the second one press the button. To go a high speed back to the first one press twice the button. All lights will be flickering at same time. REMARK: To reduce the speed up or down always wait time intervals of 2 seconds between up or down speed. speed.
D.- Button -: To set the time up (after 10-20 minutes the cooker Hood will light automatically off) E.- Button - : To light the cooker hood on or to light off press the button. 3.3 Generating a new transmission code: In the unlikely event that the remote Create-interference with other appliance home or building, you can assign a synchronization code (there are up to 8), to do this follow these instructions: 5- Press and hold the buttons simultaneously (A,B,C) until all lights will be flickering at the same time in the remote control. 6- After the lights light up , press the buttons (B,C) , the lights will flash 3 times to indicate that the process is completed.

When the step 2 is done, but before 20 seconds pass, please direct the remote control to the hood and keep pressed the button “light” until the lights of the hood switch on In case of remote control troubles , or exhausted battery , disconnect the hood throught the safety button placed inside the hood and accessible from one of the filters. 4. MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING Before performing any maintenance or clearing, disconnect the cooker hood from the mains. 4.1. Grease filter The function of the grease filter is to absorb the grease particles given off during cooking. To remove the filter press handle A and remove it through the front guide; bend it slightly and remove it. To replace, do the same operation but in reverse. In ceiling-mounted hoods, the doors or glass must be opened before accessing the filters. The filters can be washed by hand or in the dishwasher: 4.1.1. Washing by hand Immerse the filter in hot water and a neutral detergent and when clean, rinse with plenty of hot water. 4.1.2. Dishwasher Put the filter in the dishwasher and select a short program at low temperature.
WARNING! - If the grease filters are very dirty, the motor will suction only a small quantity of air, which reduces its efficiency; - The grease deposits building up on the filter are highly flammable and COULD EASILY CATCH FIRE. - The manufacturer is exonerated from all responsibility in the event of fire due to poor maintenance of the grease filters.
a. Cleaning the interior Clean the interior of the hood with a cloth wetted in water and a neutral detergent or denatured alcohol. Do not clean the electric parts or the motor with liquids or solvents. b. Cleaning the exterior We recommended using a soft cloth, water and a liquid soap, rinsing it well and then drying it thoroughly.
WARNING! Make sure that the electrical power is off. The recommended detergent is a solution of WATER and A NEUTRAL LIQUID SOAP. It is very important for the liquid soap to not contain granules that could scratch the surface. First apply the solution to a soft cloth and then rub the cloth over the hood. It is important to following the direction of the satined surface with the cloth (SEE FIG.). Do not POUR ANY LIQUID DIRECTLY ON THE COOKER HOOD. The cloth must have no buttons, zips or fasteners that could scratch the surface. It is strictly forbidden to use chemical solvents, aggressive, grainy or abrasive products, naphtha, alcohol or similar products that could damage the surface of the cooker hood. The manufacturer will not be held responsible for functional or aesthetic damage caused by cleaning with products which are not suitable or using inadequate cleaning methods.

4.4. Replacing the halogen bulb Before: Disconnect the hood from the mains. 9. 10. 11. 12.
Press on the indicated zone (push) (1) Open the gate to an angle of 90º. Insert a new 50W 12V halogen bulb as indicated (2) and (3) Close the gate by pressing the part where it says push (1).
4.5. Changing from halogen lighting to led lighting. Before: Disconnect the hood from the mains. 9. Pressing where it says push (1)

The useful life of a LED bulb is at least 10 times that of a halogen bulb. If it needs to be replaced, proceed as follows: 8. 9. 10. 4.

Unplug the respective connector (A). Press the tabs (B) inside the hood. Remove the led. Put in the new led as explained above but in reverse order.
4.7. Changing bulbs 9W (Mod. Modular) Make sure the device is disconnected from the electrical power supply. B. Open the doors in Paradigma hood. C. Remove lid door by removing the screws (Fig A). D. Replace the lamp with a similar one (4x9W) and place the lid door again Fig (B) Fig. A

5. INSTALLATION WARNING! The manufacturer warns users not to connect the air outlet of the hood to boiler chimneys, gas evacuation chimneys, fumes or steam evacuation chimneys or any other type of ducts, even ventilation ducts, that are or could be used for other purposes or by other appliances. It also warns them not to connect the evacuation pipe with fumes coming from adjacent premises or wells, particularly if these are fire-prevention installation pipes. Users not respecting these instructions are putting their lives and those of others at risk; in this case, the manufacturer declines all responsibility.
5.1. Installation guide (for all models except Modular) - Attention to the hole of the hood: 1.- On the solid ceiling, draw the outline of the hole required to house the extractor hood 2a.- Cookerhood with adjustable structures Fig. A: - Fit adjustable structures (A1) according to the suspended ceiling (A1) (to get the distance from of the adjustable , take the total height among the ceiling and the suspended ceiling and reduce it in 65mm.) - Fix the structure to the ceiling with the screws and fixing capable supplied, according to the model. With adjustable structure Fig. A 2b.- Cooker hood with plugs Fig. B: Insert the plugs supplied (A2) with the extractor hood into the holes and then screw in the rods. 3.‐ Fit the hood (B) to the structures (A1) or plugs (A2) with the threated rods supplied. 4.‐ Release power connection from the halogen lighting incorporated in the holder 5.‐ Fix holder (C) to the body hood (b) using the screws supplied. 6.‐ Fix doors or glass doors (D) to the holder hinges (C) using the screws supplied. 7.‐ Close doors or glass doors (D) to fix the holder magnets. 5.2. Installation guide for ceiling hoods (only for the Modular) - Attention to the hole of the hood We recommend to use washable paint for the ceiling where the hood is installed. 1.- On the solid ceiling, draw the outline of the hole required to house the extractor hood 2.- Helping you with the provide insole, mark and place the 4 fixing plugs (Fig A) 3.- Take the height between the false ceiling and the ceiling, and reduce it in 50mm. Then regulate de modulate to the resulting measure. Fig B. 4.- Place the modular onto the opening ceiling, move it and ducting it. When ducting fix the modular with the plugs for securing. (C) 5.- To connect the electrical cable of the lid to the connections box and fix the lid with the screws, It must remain joined to the body of the blower. 6.- To closed the lid until it will remains fixed with the magnets Fig. (E) Fig. A

5.4. Access /blower replacement in ceiling hoods. 1.- Remove the filters. (A). 2.- Unscrew the fixing blower plate ( place on the latch side) and extract the blower from the filter hole (B) 5.5. Access/ Electronic and safety switch replacement in ceiling hood. 1.- Remove the filters (A). 2.-Unscrew the fixing screws at the electronic box (c) and extract then from the filter hole.
REMARK: The ceiling mounted hodds are provided with a safety switch (D) to connect or disconnect the hoods, is accessed by removing the filters. 5.6. Safety opening doors in Sky ( only for motorized hood panel): In case of an electrical damage, the hood is equipped with a Safety switch (A) to open the doors, and then to get access for the electronic replacement. In the model Wing, the switch is place in the latch of the hood and you can access from the hole between the door and the body hood. 1.-Press the button (A) and wait until the complete opening of the doors. 2.-Folows the steps in point 5.11 to replace the electronic board.

5.7. Installation of Recirculating Box - Attention to the hole of the hood
1.- Install the ducting in the suspended ceiling and then prepare the hole in the false ceiling. 2.- Take out the steel profile (A) unscrewing 4 screws (B). 3.- Place the box on the ceiling (E) , closed enough to the electrical and ducting connections. 5.- Then prepare the decorative plate (D) and reveal the 6 fixing holes. Fix the decorative plate. 6.- To join the decorative plate (D) to the box (E) with the screws (C). 7.- To fix the decorative hub (A) to the base (D) within of the screws (B) REMARK: WE RECOMMEND TO REINFORCE THE SUSPENDED CEILING. 5.8. Fitting and replacing the charcoal filter To replace the charcoal filter: 1.- Take out the decorative plate (A) unscrewing the screws (B) 2.- Take out the charcoal filter, sliding in the guide. 3.- Fit the charcoal filter into the bracket.. 4.- Fix again the decorative plate (A) screwing all screws again (B)
REMARK: Replace the charcoal filter when it no longer absorbs kitchen odours, at least every 50 hours.

6. IN THE EVENT OF A MALFUNCTION In the event of a failure, proceed as follows:

Call the Technical Assistance Service In the event that the failure is not due to the above faults, contact the Technical Service, indicating: The purchase date The cooker hood model The hood registration number (this number is on a sticker inside the hood)
