Your Aquacoach has been designed for automatedlap counting in water. It will not work in open water. preswim preswim set unitsKg M or Lb Yds 2. The Aquacoach detects regular stroking patterns that conform to Front crawl, Breaststroke, Backstroke or Butterfly strokes only. The Aquacoach must be put into PAUSE mode when doing drills and kick sets, or resting in-between sets. 3. Strokes must only be changed at the end of a lap, not part way through a lap or inaccurate lap and stroke counts may be recorded. 4. The stroke count displayed is the number of strokes taken by the arm you wear the Aquacoach on. Remember when swimming Front crawl and Backstroke this is half the number of strokes. set pool lengthM or Yds add your weightKgs or Lbs right or left hand contents Aquacoach instructions review in pool review pause open water stopwatch Note: Motion sensor does not operate in chrono mode. REVIEW IN PAUSE RECORDING record pool swim session swim The Aquacoach must be put into Pause mode when drilling or kicking. To conserve battery life, if the watch has NOT been PAUSED and no laps have been detected for 5 minutes, the watch will stop recording and return to CLOCK screen. contents Aquacoach instructions sets review pool swim session TIP: To see how specific metrics vary by sets, (Time, Speed etc) select required metric (eg Time) with Mode and scroll through Sets with Up/Down. The metric will be shown for each set so you can compare it. postswim erase YES x5 or 100 yds total laps average strokes total distance deleted NO speed Note: If more than one set has been recorded, the speed will only be displayed by set, not for entire log. contents FAQ’s Frequently Asked Questions o Why do I need to enter my weight? The AquaCoach uses this to calculate calories burnt o I want to swim sets, can the AquaCoach record each set? Yes, you can play back all the details from individual sets as well as the details of the total swim session o The AquaCoach does not count all my laps If you have inaccurate lap results make sure the watch is securely attached to your wrist and cannot move around. Also try gliding for a longer period at the start of each lap. This saves you energy and gives the AquaCoach a little longer to register the change of laps. Some swimmers may find better results wearing the AquaCoach on the other wrist o The AquaCoach does not work when I do kick-sets or some drills The AquaCoach must be put in Pause mode when doing kick sets or drills o Will the AquaCoach work in open water? The AquaCoach has been designed for the pool and will only work in a pool (or an open water body with designated and measured laps) o Can I wear the AquaCoach on any arm? Yes o The AquaCoach gives strange results when I change strokes mid lap The AquaCoach has not been designed to recognize changes of stroke part way through a lap. You can only change strokes when you start a new lap. If not, it will result in inaccurate lap counts. o What units is the Speed measured in? In seconds/100 meters, as most swimmers calculate their speed this way and can be used with a pool clock as well. o Will the AquaCoach work with flip turns? Yes, the AquaCoach works both with flip turns and with pushing off the wall o Will the AquaCoach work in all pools? Yes, it will work in all pools over 15 meters/yards, but the pool length needs to be set up before use. In order to recognize you are swimming, the AquaCoach needs to detect several swim strokes. If using a small pool you may reach the end before this occurs. contents Troubleshoots ISSUE CAUSE SOLUTION 1 Watch misses a lot of laps SETUP problem. The most common fault for this is the watch is set up for the wrong hand. Change the hand setting in the SETUP menu. 2 Watch misses laps The swimmer may take quicker turns than average. Quick turns result in a short glide period, the watch may not have enough time to register the change of lap. NOTE: This may happen slightly more with breaststroke swimming. Try gliding a little longer at the start of each lap, this will give the watch a little longer to register the change of lap. Just a second will probably be all that s required. 3 Watch misses laps Try wearing the watch on your other arm, this may be more regular or when swimming crawl may spend more time in the glide position when changing lap. Change the hand setting in the SETUP menu and wear watch on other arm. 4 Watch misses laps Pool length may be too short (the watch needs 6 or 7 regular strokes on the arm you wear the watch on, before it knows you are swimming). Use a longer pool, an 18 metre pool is usually sufficient for most swimmers but those with a long distance per stroke may need a longer pool. 5 Watch misses laps Alternating between single laps of crawl and breaststroke may produce inaccurate lap counts in some swimmers. Try gliding a little longer at the start of each lap, this will give the watch a little longer to register the change of lap. Just a second will probably be all that s required. 6 Watch counts an extra lap or two Hesitating, interrupting stroke rhythm or changing stroke type mid lap. Refrain from changing stroke mid lap, be aware that if you stop behind another swimmer in the middle of a lap or interrupt the stroking pattern the watch may count an extra lap. contents SPEEDO, AND AQUACOACH ARE TRADEMARKS OF AND USED UNDER LICENCE FROM SPEEDO HOLDINGS B.V.© Speedo International Limited 2011
