2a. Slotted disc
Dome smooth and free from damage 2b. Seal membrane Good fit to disc profile and free from damage. Items 2 & 3 secured firmly together by disc tag
3. Vacuum / Reverse Pressure Support (where fitted)
Face to be smooth, clean and flat
4. Pressure Side Holder Flow Notes This type of holder accommodates ‘CS’ discs. Each assembly consists of: • Type CS - Slotted disc (2a) Seal membrane (2b) If vacuum / reverse pressure conditions occur a vacuum support (3) may be attached
Face to be clean and flat
Assembly • Place the vent side holder on a bench with the recess upwards. • Before placing the disc assembly into the recess, check the disc tag for correct identification number, burst pressure and temperature rating. • Place the disc assembly into the recess. Note: Disc is prevented from incorrect installation by the “foolproofing” feature incorporated into the disc tag. • Fit the pressure side holder into the vent holder. • Fit and tighten the assembly screws / connector plates which secure the holder parts together. The assembly can now be installed into the plant. • Note: Gaskets should not be fitted between parts 1 & 2. Gaskets may be fitted between parts 2 (or 3 if fitted) & 4, if necessary and when agreed by Marston. • Check flow arrow on holder & vent side on disc tag are in agreement. If in any doubt, contact Marston directly. Installation • Check that the details on the holder product plate and the disc tag are correct for the specific application. • When placing the assembly between the flanges or into system, ensure that the flow arrow & “VENT SIDE”, on disc tag, are correctly orientated and in agreement with flow direction of vent system. • Mating equipment faces should be undamaged, parallel and correctly aligned with bursting disc device. Faces should be clean and fitted with correct gasket/seal. • Progressively tighten the flange bolts until a seal is achieved. • Disc performance is not affected by flange bolt torque. Maintenance Bursting discs are generally considered maintenance free, as they have no moving parts. It is recommended however, that discs are checked during service to ensure there are no signs of corrosion, fatigue, pin holing, product build up. etc. This should be done most frequently when commissioning the equipment. Disposal Beware of sharp edges and process residue when dismantling. Items should be disposed of in accordance with local and national regulations.
