MAX/2 Micro Base Station www.eionwireless.com The MAX/2 Micro Base Station is part of the Libra MAX family of WiMAX products delivering exceptional performance, scalability, coverage and security. The MAX/2 Base station is an ideal solution for service providers who require a cost effective entry-level base station in low-density urban and rural areas. MAX/2 takes 1U of space in a 19” rack, supports up to two hot-swappable sectors and is available as either an AC or DC chassis. The base station can be backhauled over a 10/100/1000 BaseT Ethernet link through the carrier backbone or over a wireless link. • Entry-level 1U Micro Base Station • Dual Mode supports MAX-16 and MAXTurbo sectors • Card based architecture with hot swappable sector cards • Scalable design allows graceful path from a single sector to fully redundant six sector cell. • Best in class spectral efficiency and Non-Line-of-Sight operation • Up to 30 km point-to-multipoint range • Intelligent Networking Features: • Static Routing • Static and Dynamic IP Assignment Intelligence in WiMAX The powerful “Network MAX Operating System” (NetMOS™) integrated into the Libra MAX is the engine that delivers advanced networking features beyond simple bridging. In addition to the features included in the WiMAX standard, NetMOS™ supports static and dynamic IP routing, gateway mask, DNS, DHCP and more. Innovative service providers can take advantage of these features to deliver QoS supported differentiated services such as VoIP, Video on Demand, and Virtual Private Networks (VPN) to end customers. Dual-Mode Operation The Libra MAX family has the unique ability of being able to support both MAX-16 and MAX‑Turbo sectors in the same chassis. MAX-16 sectors use the IEEE 802.16d WiMAX standard and are aimed at service providers creating public WiMAX networks for residential and municipal markets. MAX-Turbo sectors deliver higherthroughput and increased security for enterprise and military customers using a patented Turbo W-OFDM technology. The flexible card-based Libra MAX family gives service providers the • DNS ability to offer both 802.16d WiMAX (MAX-16) and Turbo W-OFDM (MAX-Turbo) in the same network. Limitless Architecture The entire Libra MAX family is built on chassis‑based platform with interchangeable sector cards that fit all base station form factors. With the cPCI framework, increasing capacity is as simple as inserting additional MAX sector cards. The use of common sector cards for the MAX/2 and MAX/8 base stations reduces equipment upgrade costs, saves on the price of spares, and truly makes the Libra MAX a future‑proof platform. Rugged Outdoor Units The Outdoor Unit (ODU) in an environmentally hardened, high-power, multi-carrier radio that connects to an external antenna. An ODU is selected to meet a carrier’s licensed frequency range, duplexing format and network redundancy requirements and is paired with a sector card to deliver MAC and PHY functions. MAX-16 ODUs are powered using Power over Ethernet (PoE) and are available with several mounting options. • DHCP • NAT • Port Forwarding • IP Filtering • MAC Filtering • IP Firewall Flexible Libra MAX architecture allows for controlled network expansion as the subscriber base grows. Start with a single omni-antenna at the base station, divide into a sectored cell and ultimately expand to multiple cells to satisfy all network growth requirements. • 802.16 MAC Features • Prioritized voice and data services • Layered security without compromise to throughput performance 1-2 sectors 4 sectors 6 sectors + www.eionwireless.com Libra MAX/2 Micro Base Station Radio Specifications Max-Turbo PHY Profile Max-16 (WiMAX) 802.16-2004, Corr D5 & D12 256FFT OFDM Frequency Range Duplex Scheme 3.4 to 3.6 GHz TDD 3.4 - 3.6 GHz FDD (Half Duplex or Full Duplex) Channel Size 3.5 and 7 MHz 3.5 and 7 MHz Receive Sensitivity (at 10E-6 BER) Min Sensitivity - 3.5 MHz Min Sensitivity - 7 MHz BPSK ½ -91 dBm -88 dBm BPSK QPSK 16QAM 64QAM -91 dBm -88 dBm -82 dBm -75 dBm -89 dBm -86 dBm -80 dBm -73 dBm Tx Power +29 dBm (average across all modulations) BPSK QPSK 16QAM 64QAM +26 dBm +26 dBm +26 dBm +23 dBm Initial {profM3_PMP.TDD. profP3_3_5.profP3_ 7.profC3_23} Initial Technology Enterprise MDU/MTU Making use of Libra MAX, service providers can increase their ARPU by offering more services to more subscribers without increasing their infrastructure costs. In fact, the Libra MAX MTU/MDU solution works with traditional wireline infrastructure and makes use of the advanced networking features in NetMOS™ to provide layer-2 customer separation. With Libra MAX, service providers can extend their physical reach-adding more MDU/MTU organizations--as well as reduce costs and increase their overall subscriber base. Urban Hotzones EION’s hotzone solution raises the bar for reliability, speed and coverage. Using the global wireless standard IEEE 802.11or WiFi, along with WiMAX backhaul products EION based hotzones enable your customers to simultaneously connect to the internet or their corporate networks at broadband speeds in virtually any public place, without the constraints of wires or cables. EION’s field-proven fixed wireless products provide a cost effective backhaul by eliminating the need for expensive fibre. Backhaul Many service providers overlook a vital part of their network: backhaul. Once customer traffic reaches the remote office or cell site, this data needs to be reliably transported back to switches and internet gateways. Wireless backhaul is a low-cost way to connect cell towers to mobile telephone switching offices (MTSOs). With WiMAX, Libra MAX provides throughput at several times that which can be delivered by conventional hard-wired networks--making Libra MAX an extremely cost-effective backhaul alternative.
