393732AA December 2007 Instructions for Operating the Optima™ MAX-XP Ultracentrifuge Using Remote Control Kit 393395 This bulletin describes how to operate the Optima MAX-XP Ultracentrifuge from your PC. Remote operation provides the convenience of monitoring a sample run from your desk using the remote control software provided in Remote Control Kit 393395. Kit 393395 contents: • Compact flashcard containing Optima MAX-XP user interface software and remote control software • Ethernet cable • Ethernet receptacle ➠ NOTE The software and hardware contained in Kit 393395 must be installed and configured by authorized Beckman Coulter personnel prior to use. REMOTE OPERATION PROCEDURE 1. Coordinate remote usage with others who may be operating the ultracentrifuge locally. 2. Obtain the IP address of the ultracentrifuge by pressing Help > About on the touchscreen. The IP address appears near the bottom of the About screen. © 2007 Beckman Coulter, Inc. 3. Open a browser window on your PC, enter http://IP address:81/RemoteControl in the address field, and click Go. For example, using the IP address shown above, you would enter the following: http://10.22.57.104:81/RemoteControl 4. Upon successful connection, the MAX-XP touchscreen interface appears in your browser window. Your PC interface reflects the current state of the ultracentrifuge in real time. 5. When the remote screen is displayed for the first time, it is not active. To make it active, click anywhere on the screen. 6. Use the interface as if you were standing at the ultracentrifuge. Press the buttons on the screen using your mouse. For complete instructions on using the Optima MAX-XP Ultracentrifuge, refer to the MAX-XP Ultracentrifuge Instruction Manual. 2
