The nozzle temperature is over 200°C when the printer is operating. Avoid touching. 5. ABS will produce a strong smell when building, so please keep ventilated. 6. Pause to change new filament when material is running out. You can even load filament during building. Just remember DO NOT move the position of print head, otherwise the print will be destroyed. MBot Grid II+ 3D Printer ADVANCED GUIDE This guide is for MBot Grid II+ 3D printer users to level print plate, pre-set Z offset and adjust compensation automatically. The build plate is calibrated from the factory, where MBot Grid II+ has recorded the heights of three checkpoints on the build plate. Every time before printing, it will detect the three checkpoints and compare heights with records. If the difference is within tolerance, the build plate will move up and down accordingly to compensate during printing. So, although it is tilt, the distance between nozzle and the build plate keeps the same. If the difference is beyond tolerance, you’ll have to level manually and record the heights of three checkpoints. After long-term use, frequent removal of build plate may cause it tilt, which requires leveling. MBot Grid II+ 3D Printer USER MANUAL ●LEVELING THE BUILD PLATFORM Place the build plate on the tripod and make sure the magnet is inserted into the slot and fixed. *NOTES: 1. Make sure the build plate is fixed. 2. Before leveling, turn counterclockwise three nuts below the build platform with fitting included in the toolkit to lower down the build plate toward the bottom, in order to make room for adjusting. 3. Check the print nozzle is clean, no remaining material. ●PREPARATIONS 1. Set language to English. 2. Copy MBot_Levelling_Calibration.x3g and MBot_testprint_Quick.x3g to SD card. The former file is used to level build plate and calibrate Z offset. And the latter one is to adjust compensation automatically. Insert SD card into your printer. ●LEVELING 1. Go to Print menu, and select MBot_Levelling_Calibration.x3g to print. This wizard will restore factory calibration of the buildplate, press button Please remoue any plastic residue on the print head nozzle, press button adiust buildplate to lowest position on all 3 points with the tool, press button 2. Clean print head. Then turn counterclockwise three nuts below the build platform with fitting included in the toolkit to lower down the build plate to the bottom. Press the knob to confirm. MBot Grid II+ 3D Printer USER MANUAL 3. The print head moves among three checkpoints. Turn clockwise the corresponding nuts until the limit switch LED is light on the left of the nozzle, and then confirm. Adjust nuts from left rear, right rear, font, to left rear and right rear. Adjust back left position just until LED lighets, then press button Adjust back right position just until LED lighets, then press button Adjust front position just until LED lighets, then press button 4. After the previous steps, it will detect the surface of build plate. If it’s leveled, the system will record the heights of three checkpoints. Press button to confirm, and go to Z offset settings (i.e. the distance between nozzle and build plate). The build plateis leveled Press button to contioue. 5. If it’s not leveled, turn the knob to cancel printing, and re-adjust. The build plateis not level. Rotate the button to cancel and try again Cancel this print? → NO YES MBot Grid II+ 3D Printer USER MANUAL ●Z OFFSET SETTINGS 1. After leveling, go to Z offset settings. When the nozzle heats up to the pre-set temperature, the machine gives notification tone, and then press to confirm. Starting build plate Z offset calibration... To calibrate build plate Z offset the extruders need to heat up,please wait... CAUTION,the extruders are now hot!press button to continue 2. When it moves to the middle of build plate, place a sheet of A4 paper between the nozzle and the build plate to help fine tuning. Every time pressing the knob, the build plate rises up 0.05mm and the system records current heights. To perform the Z calibration a copier paper is needed.Press button This paper should be carefully put under the hotend nozzle.Press button To find correct distance gently move paper during calibration.Press button When distrance is found you must cancel by rotating button, then select cancel Put paper between nozzle and plate,Press button to continue Slide paper btwn nozzle and plate, push button until paper is grabbed then rotate 3. Drag A4 paper while pressing the control knob until you feel some friction on the paper but still be able to pass the paper between the nozzle and the build plate without tearing or damaging the paper. That means the distance is just enough. Then, turn the knob to cancel printing. Z offset is set up. MBot Grid II+ 3D Printer USER MANUAL ●AUTOMATIC COMPENSATION *NOTES: This is for professional users. 1. Reset Values Go to: Setup → Probe Offsets. Set the following parameters to 0.000mm: Right Back Offset (RB), Left Back offset (LB), Left Front Offset (LF), Right Front Offset (RF), Mid plate offset (MD). Turn the knob to set values, clockwise to increase and counterclockwise to decrease. 2. Test Print Use MBot_Testprint_Quick.x3g in SD card to print. There are 5 discs in test file. Place them at the outer corners and the middle of the build plate, as the picture shown below. Left Back Disc Right Back Disc Left Front Disc Right Front Disc Mid Plate Disc 3. Setup Values a) Remove the build plate, but don’t take away the discs. Compare the discs with the table below, and set the corresponding values in “Probe Offsets”. Example: The left back disc matches the picture with the value -0.100mm. In Setup → Probe Offsets → LB Offset , and turn counterclockwise the knob to set LB “-0.100mm”. b) If all the discs are worse than pictures between “+0.200mm” and “-0.200mm”, suggest leveling again. c) After all the offsets are set up, suggest printing another MBot_Testprint_Quick.x3g to verify the tuning. *NOTES: After the fine tuning, there will be slight differences between the discs. However, it won’t affect the printing quality. Now your can get back to printing your designs on a perfectly calibrated MBot 3D printer! Thanks again for choosing MBot personal 3D printer!
