We recommend that you read the whole document. We do not support the automatic upgrade of a pre-release software version. To upgrade to a production release of the software, you must first uninstall the existing version. Release date — December 5, 2016 This release was developed for use with: • McAfee Security for Microsoft Exchange 8.5 Patch 1 with HF1111610 and HF1144496. • McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (McAfee ePO ) 5.1.x and 5.3.x. ® ® ® ™ This release was developed and tested with: • Engine Version: 5800.7501 • DAT Version: 8362.0000 Rating — Mandatory 1 • Required for all environments. • Failure to apply Mandatory updates might result in a security breach. • Mandatory patches and hotfixes resolve vulnerabilities that might affect product functionality and compromise security. • You must apply these updates to maintain a viable and supported product. For more information, see KB51560. Resolved issues The current release of the product resolved these issues. For a list of issues fixed in earlier releases, see the Release Notes for the specific release. Reference Issue description 1165130, 1165136, 1161664, 1165133, and 1169085 The enhancement made to the mail handling in mail queue resolves the mails submission queue length issue. 1167068 The public folders are now expanded properly in the on-demand scan settings interface page. 1167071 McAfee Stack upgrade of Postgres version is upgraded to 9.3.15 that contains fix for vulnerabilities CVE-2016-5423 and CVE-2016-5424. 1165457 The enhanced watchdog functionality for MSME Scanner Process resolves the CSE watchdog exception issue. Installation instructions Before you begin Before you install this hotfix on an Exchange server managed by McAfee ePO with a Hub only or HUB/CAS role, make sure that the policies deployed to the server do not contain On-Access policy settings with VSAPI enabled. You can verify this in the Settings & Diagnostics | On-Access Settings page, the VSAPI Enabled option is deselected. If you are running separate Hub and Mailbox servers in the same Exchange 2010 environment and using the same On Access Policy for all Exchange Servers with both Transport and VSAPI enabled, then it is recommended to create and assign a new On Access Policy specifically for the Hub only or Hub/CAS Servers with Transport Scanning enabled and VSAPI disabled before deploying this hotfix. To use this hotfix, you must have McAfee Security for Microsoft Exchange 8.5 Patch 1 with HF1111610 and HF1144496 installed on the computer you intend to update. This hotfix does not work with any earlier versions of the software. This hotfix is based on the Windows Installer patch framework. You must install all these components for the product to work flawlessly: • The hotfix (either the standalone installation or deployment through McAfee ePO server) on McAfee Security for Microsoft Exchange system. To remove this hotfix and revert to the original setup, you must reinstall the McAfee Security for Microsoft Exchange 8.5 Patch 1 with HF1111610 and HF1144496 software. 2 Files included with this release This release consists of a package called MSME85P1HF1165136.ZIP, which contains these files: • MSME85P1HF1165136_for_Standalone.zip — McAfee Security for Microsoft Exchange hotfix executable file for standalone system. • MSME85P1HF1165136_for_ePO.zip — McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator deployment package. • Validate.txt — Validation code for this hotfix. • Release_Notes.Pdf — This Release Notes. Install the hotfix on standalone systems Install the hotfix on standalone servers. Before you begin Close all McAfee Security for Microsoft Exchange administration consoles running on the server or on any management console. Task 1 Log on to the system as an administrator. 2 Extract the files from the hotfix package MSME85P1HF1165136.ZIP to a temporary directory. 3 Extract the setup.exe and setup_x64.exe from MSME85P1HF1165136_for_Standalone.ZIP. 4 Run setup.exe. Do not run the setup_x64.exe. The hotfix displays a wizard and generates MSILOG file that lists all actions taken in the Temp (%temp%) directory. 5 Restart the system when prompted. Install the hotfix using McAfee ePO Install the hotfix on managed servers using McAfee ePO. Task 1 Extract MSME85P1HF1165136_for_EPO.ZIP from the hotfix package to the C:\Temp directory of your McAfee ePO computer. 2 Log on to the McAfee ePO server as an administrator. 3 Click Menu| Software| Master Repository. 4 Click Actions| Check In Package, then add the hotfix package. 5 Click Next. The Package Options page appears with the package information. Click Save. 6 Create a task to schedule an immediate update using the Product Update option from the New Client Task Assignment tab. 7 Select McAfee Security for Microsoft Exchange MSME85P1HF1165136 8.5.0 under Patches and Service packs, then run the wake-up agent. The managed server will reboot automatically after the hotfix installation. 3 Test the installation Verify whether the hotfix is applied correctly by verifying the version of these files in the respective Exchange roles. CSE version is 4.8.8931.0 3 Navigate to the \McAfee\MSME\PostgreSQL directory. PostgreSQL version is 9.3.15.16298 4 Navigate to the \McAfee\MSME\ui\js directory. • RefCounter.js You can also verify if the hotfix is applied correctly by clickingDashboard|Versions & Updates | Product Information, from the user interface.
