40Watt + 15Watt Bi–Amplifier Module Congratulations on your purchase of the MCM Custom Audio #50-6277 Full Range Amplifier Module. As this unit incorporates separate low and high frequency amplifier sections, it is perfect for full range speaker applications, where compact size and uncompromised performance are essential. Features: ▪Independent high frequency and low frequency amplifiers ▪Each amplifier utilizes independent LM3886TF output devices ▪Master level control ▪Independent high frequency and low frequency level controls ▪Switchable 4dB bass boost ▪Unbalanced line level input (female RCA) ▪Thermal, overload and fuse protection ▪Removable power cord ▪LED power status indicator v Front Panel Controls/Connections Power Switch (Off/On): The amplifier is manually turned ON or OFF via this switch. When idle, and no sound source is present, the current draw and heat generated is very low. It is not a problem to leave this in the ON position indefinitely. Level Control This adjusts the overall output level of the amplifier, both high and low level simultaneously. Woofer Control Independently adjusts low frequency output level, to the woofer only. Adjustment range is 0~+5dB. Tweeter Control Independently adjusts high frequency output level, to the tweeter only. Adjustment range is 0 ~ +3dB Independent woofer and tweeter adjustments allow precise speaker component balancing, compensating for different levels in program material and varying room acoustics. Input RCA female connection accepts standard line level signal. This is suitable for connection to home theater equipment as well as mixing console outputs in studio applications. Power Cord Fuse Detachable power cord should only be replaced with a similar type that utilizes a polarized AC plug, such as MCM #23-195 Replace with only 5mm x 20mm, fast blow 2A, 250V type fuse Input / Output Connections Line Input: Speaker Outputs Tweeter Woofer Line level RCA input accepts nominal 1V p-p signal There are two sets of speaker outputs on located on the rear (PC board side) of the amplifier module. Each color coded red (+) and black (-). Output connections listed below assume you are facing the rear of the amplifier module (PC board side), with the power transformer located to the left. Loads on each output load must have a nominal impedance of 8Ω or higher. This output connection is located on the far right side of the main amplifier PC board. Note the red and black leads are connected to corresponding tabs on the PC board labeled T+ and T -. This amplifier contains an active 24dB crossover at 3KHz, however for added protection it is recommended that a capacitor such as MCM #50-4578 (6.8uF) be placed in series with the tweeter. This output connection is located towards the middle left side of the main amplifier PC board, approximately 2-1/2” from the left edge of the board. Note the red and black leads are connected to corresponding tabs on the PC board labeled W+ and W -.
