Welcome to issue number seven! We hope that your Thanksgiving was fantastic. We are reporting three great auctions this month. Some notes about our spreadsheets: If a space is left blank, It is due to the data not being available. Prices are reported without sales commission unless noted. It is our intent to check every box that is applicable. At times, the information does not exist. We would rather leave a box blank that report in incorrectly. Many subscribers have NOT renewed their subscriptions. If you are on that list, this will be your LAST issue by mail. A reminder that the paper subscription will have a substantial increase next year. Also, starting this month, You may subscribe to a digital only version for just $19.99/Year, 12 Issues delivered to your inbox.. This digital subscription will be included with your print version subscription. For complimentary subscribers, we need to reduce the print volume for you due to increasing costs. Therefore, If you can accept our monthly digital version in lieu of the paper version, we will continue to send that complimentary, (Retail Price $19.99).But we MUST have your email address. See our following policy: Our email privacy policy, your name, address, phone and fax number, email address and any other information you provide are held in strict confidence. We do not sell or share your information with anyone else. As of June, 2014, Bob Kroupa handed me the keys to this ride and recommended to me to take it to the next level. To that end, - We have carried on with more content and more color in the print version. - We created a VETTENVESTMENTS.COM website with current information. - We are building a growing list of digital edition subscribers. - We are in process of creating a brand new, redesigned Price Guide. In addition to our website, www.vettenvestments.com, we now are on Facebook and Twitter.

With a little over a month left before the new
Callaway C6 based Z06R GT3
begins making its way to dealerships, we’re starting to get a lot more info on the car.
On January 13, 2013 the all-new C7 Corvette Stingray took center stage in Detroit to a global automotive audience. The debut of the C7 marked a new era for General Motors. This includes taking on the worlds best supercars in a head to head battle on the world’s racetracks. One group in particular that knows this territory very well is Callaway Competition headquartered in Leingarten, Germany. Callaway Competitions current C6 based Z06R GT3 has claimed numerous victories and multiple series titles since it's debut in late 2005. This includes a FIA GT3 Team Championship in 2007, FIA Driver Championships in 2008 and 2010 and ADAC GT Masters Team Championship in 2009. In 2013 an upgraded Callaway Competition built GT4 C6 Corvette captured the marquees first class victory for General Motors and Corvette at the famous Nurburgring 24 Hours. Callaway Competition is now facing a new and exciting challenge. The company has received approval from General Motors to develop, test and race the new GT3 specification C7 Corvette. The team will utilize the same techniques it used to develop its championship winning C6 Z06R GT3 Corvette to create another Championship winning racecar. Because Callaway Competition is classified as a "specialist", the FIA required the team to provide authorization from the original equipment manufacturer (General Motors) before developing the new C7 GT3 racecar. Recently Chevrolet sent this letter of authorization to the FIA and now Callaway Competition can proceed with its C7 FIA homologation. Callaway Competition has been officially appointed as the Chevrolet specialist to develop, build and hold the homologation of the Corvette C7 FIA GT3 racecar.

Corvette Z06
The latest bit of news is leaked fuel economy numbers for the supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 V8 engine fitted with the eight-speed automatic transmission, which comes in at 13 MPG in the city and 23 MPG on the highway. That’s a combined MPG of 16. Not bad for a car with 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque that will do zero to 60 in under three seconds. Then again, if it’s amazing fuel economy numbers you’re looking for, you probably stumbled on the wrong website. Chevrolet has announced its official performance estimates for the 2015 Corvette Z06, and, uh, they don’t disappoint. The best numbers were obtained using Z06 coupes equipped with the new eight-speed automatic transmission and the Z07 performance package, which adds Brembo carbon-ceramic brake rotors, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, and the most spoilertastic and downforce-enabling aero bits available on the Z06. (Chevy will offer a number of different aero bundles.) Chevrolet claims the Z06 sprinted through the benchmark 0-to-60-mph measure in just 2.95 seconds and that it annihilated the quarter-mile in an equally impressive 10.95 at 127 mph. Those who opt for the seven-speed manual transmission will have to be content with claimed 3.2- and 11.2-second (also at 127 mph) times. The car is propelled through time and space by a supercharged LT4 small-block V-8 making 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. ZO6 Ordering update from corvetteforum. For those ordering Z06s, quick update. My Convertible Z06 order went to "order accepted" a week ago Thursday. I checked status this morning, and I've now gone to 3300 - Scheduled for Production! I still don't have a target production week (TPW) yet, but I can't believe how fast I progressed to 3300! Could I be getting an extra special Christmas present? Or maybe a New Years Resolution! Pretty soon I'll be able to toss this computer generated poser out of the driver's seat of my car and insert my
smiling face. He'd better not get any virtual cooties in my car while he's in there!
Courtesy, superchevy.com. The scene is Daytona Beach, February 1957. Hot Rod magazine Editor Wally Parks, there to drive his magazine's “Suddenly” Plymouth Savoy project car for a speed record, walks the beach snapping photos to augment coverage of the event. During his walk he captures Bill Mitchell's SR-2 Corvette in repose, waiting for its turn to run on the hard-packed sand. Mitchell's SR-2 was one of three built by Chevrolet in 1956. The first was made for Harley Earl's son Jerry, who wanted to go sports-car racing—in a Ferrari. As you would imagine, the elder Earl, then a GM vice president, didn't want his son racing some foreign job. So a car was commissioned, utilizing custom fiberglass bodywork and chassis pieces tested in action at Sebring. The Sebring connection is where this car got its name. Because the 1956 Sebring Corvettes were dubbed SR— the initials meaning Sebring Racer, Sports Racing, or Special Racing, depending on which expert you believe— this car was called SR-2 as the second Corvette to spring from that development program. When Bill Mitchell, then Earl's chief man in design, saw Jerry Earl's race car, he wanted one, too. The two SR-2s aren't twins; Mitchell's car was wider, lighter, and had a tall stabilizing fin integrated into the body behind the driver's seat. Earl's car was blue and white; Mitchell's was red and white. At some venues, including Daytona, it was fitted with a clear canopy stretching from the windshield back to the rear wing. (The third SR-2 was essentially a show car built for GM President Harlow Curtice. He kept it for just a year before selling it.) Mitchell, like Earl, wanted to race his SR-2, and Daytona's 1957 Speed Weeks marked its debut. With NASCAR champion Buck Baker behind the wheel, it was clocked through the flying mile at 152.866 mph. A D-Type Jaguar was the only car faster through the mile that year.

Driving the fastest 'Vette ever By Alex LloydNovember 24, 2014 1:00 AMMotoramic
If you ever race at Road Atlanta, pack your big boy undies. As you exit the final chicane, bouncing over the blind right-hand crest with your foot firmly planted to the floor – chugging every single one of the 650 horses on tap like Jim Morrison emptying a bar of all its vodka – you arrive at the track’s notorious 12th turn. Just a small lift is all it takes, keeping the minimum speed pegged at 110 mph. The wall is feet from the edge of the track, taunting you to lift further. You see tire marks revealing the perils of wrongdoings – a vast trail of destruction. But in this car, you needn’t fret. As Harry Hogge famously said in Days of Thunder, “you can hold it.” The 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 has widely been presumed — before a single soul outside of the company has even driven it — to be one of the best machines GM has ever built. I refused to get sucked into these presumptions, but I must admit, on paper – 650 hp, 650 lb-ft of torque; 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds and winglets that appear fresh off the C7.R Le Mans car — it does sound bloody amazing. After spending a day in the Z06 at Road Atlanta followed by another on the Georgian country roads, I finally have my definitive answer: Yes, the Z06, which will go on sale for around $79,000 ($89,000 with the Stage 3 aero kit), is an absolute masterpiece. It’s the best Corvette I’ve ever driven, and yet it’s not without issues. The dry-sump, 6.2-liter supercharged LT4 motor is sublime. Power is up 37 percent from the outgoing Z06, and the supercharger assembly is mounted within the valley between the cylinder heads, ensuring it keeps the car’s weight distribution as low as possible. That supercharger spins to 20,000 rpm – 25 percent faster than in the Corvette ZR1, thanks to smaller rotors. This also helps the torque ramp up more effectively at low revs. Two gearboxes can transfer that torque to the rear wheels; a glorious 7-speed manual with rev-matching or a new 8-speed automatic. That auto is eight pounds lighter than the outgoing 6speed, five percent more fuel efficient and, according to GM, eighthundredths of a second faster thanPorsche’s dual-clutch from the 911. Even in base trim, the Z06 can lap a track unlike anything in its price range. But as you creep up to the Stage 2 downforce level, then to the maximum Stage 3 configuration with the Z07 package (which also includes larger carbon ceramic-matrix brake rotors that save 23 lbs. of unsprung mass and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires) the car transforms both in looks and in performance. It becomes a race car. It feels analog like a race car, it’s loud like a race car and the downforce level in Stage 3 is roughly 500 lbs. greater at top speed. In fact, the Z06 produces more downforce than any car GM has ever tested – and that includes all of its competition: “We’ve tested everything you can imagine,” said chief engineer Tadge Juechter. “The Z06 outperforms them all.” On track, you don’t question that statement. It’s incredibly competent. It makes the brilliant C7 Corvette Stingray feel like an appropriate first car for a teenage boy. It’s Ferrari fast, McLaren fast. It’d kill a Lamborghini without even batting an eyelid. Nowadays people demand a rounder, more complete character in a sports car. The effort spent implementing this technology, which on the track isn't yet fully in sync, pays off big time on regular country roads. It remains a track-focused machine, and yet it’s as comfortable on the streets as its baby brother, the Stingray. Eco mode ensures the steering is effortless, and cylinder deactivation turns the V-8 into a V-4. The engine note softens, the ride is compliant and the cabin contains just enough leather to feel somewhat luxurious. That clever tech allows the Z06 to be more than just a one-trick pony. When you put it in Sport mode (Track mode's suspension settings are simply too stiff for the street), it comes alive. It’s incredibly engaging; constantly exciting. Yes, it is stupidly fast, but it feels so good. In many ways, I enjoyed myself more on the country roads than I did on the racetrack. There, it's a damn fine merry-go-round. So what, now, is the point of the ZR1? If a new version does indeed arrive, the Z06 will be better on track, and just as livable on the street. It’ll be cheaper, too. Just imagine what it could do with a set of Harry’s specially staggered tires
