Features ■ The full line of media converters supports the following protocols: Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, Token Ring, ATM and OC-12 (over SONET and ATM). ■ Provides an easy-to-install, cost-effective alternative to large fiber chassis modules.
Applications Ethernet or Token Ring Networks: Connect distant networks or devices up to 20km in an existing single mode network.
ATM or Fast Ethernet Networks: Extend distances up to 20km with these network protocols that use 1300nm wavelength for fiber optic transmission. In fact, distances can be extended in any networking protocol between 10 Mbps and 155 Mbps. OC-12 over SONET or ATM Networks: Convert multimode 622 Mbps interfaces to single mode fiber on a port-by-port basis and extend ATM or SONET over single mode fiber up to 10,000 meters.
Gigabit Ethernet Networks: Used individually or in pairs, this media converter can extend Gigabit Ethernet over single mode fiber up to 5,000 meters. Convert 1000BASE-SX ports on a Gigabit Ethernet switch to 1000BASE-LX on a portby-port basis. Ideal for campus area networks or other applications requiring the distance advantages of single mode fiber.
