FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MEDIA RELEASE Tough on the outside, great functionality on the inside: The Gigaset E495 is ready for even the most demanding use. Built to resist dust, shocks and water spray, the new Siemens Gigaset E495 is especially tough. This robust telephone is perfect for people who like to work in the garden or their home workshop, for families with small children and in industrial environments. The allrounder includes many attractive features such as a large color display with a graphical menu, a vibration alarm and a high-quality hands-free facility in full-duplex sound. In addition it features an integrated answering machine. The Gigaset E495 is anything but a softy. A rubber ring running around the full outer circumference of the ergonomically designed handset buffers shocks and lets the telephone lie securely in the user’s hand. The new model in the E Class complies with the international IP54 standard to keep dirt and water spray from getting inside the handset. Whether from dust and wood chips in a carpenter’s workshop or a rain shower in the garden at home – this phone stays safe. Even rough use by small children leaves it unimpressed. A belt clip is included to give users a convenient way to carry the handset of the Gigaset E495 with them. Even if the lawn mower is running at full volume, the power saw is whining or the baby screaming, the vibration alarm ensures that no calls are missed. If desired, a corded headset can be plugged into the 2.5 mm jack. A bracket can be used to mount the separate base station and charging cradle on the wall to save space and keep them right where they are needed. The Gigaset E495 offers the highest levels of operating convenience, even under difficult conditions. The high-quality hands-free facility features full-duplex sound and adjustable volume. The six-line color display (128x128 pixels, 1.5 in) along with a clear and intuitive menu system and the large, illuminated keypad also ensure a high level of convenience. The battery enables up to 250 hours of standby time or 12 hours of talk time. Up to 150 names and phone numbers can be stored in the address book of the Gigaset E495. If the user assigns different ringtones to the stored contacts (VIP Call), he or she knows who is calling as soon as the phone rings. In addition to five standard melodies, ten polyphonic ringtones are also available. Particularly practical for young families is the fact that the handset of the Gigaset E495 can also be used as a baby monitor. To record voice messages, the Gigaset E495 has a digital answering system with a capacity of up to 45 minutes, remote operation and an SMS text function that informs the user when a caller has left a new message. Leading-edge ECO DECT technology is built into the Gigaset E495. Transmission mode is not activated until a call is received or made. In standby and when the phone is charging, transmission mode is completely de-activated (ECO Plus mode). During a call, ECO mode can reduce the transmission power by up to 80 percent. Energy-saving power supplies help conserve electricity, and the handset uses standard, low-cost batteries that are available everywhere. The base station of the Gigaset E495 can be operated with up to six handsets. The Siemens Gigaset E495 is priced at $179.00 and includes an integrated answering machine. Additional handsets, including a charging cradle, will be available in early November 2009 and priced at $149.00.
