TruLink® Media Gateway
AUTOMATIC FIRMWARE UPDATE HOW TO USE GUIDE Occasionally the firmware of the Media Gateway connectivity panel must be updated in order to fully support all of the functions of newer devices. For example, in order to fully support a new Apple device, it may be necessary to update the firmware of the unit to allow the Media Gateway to support the new commands, features, etc.
AUTOMATIC UPDATES VIA AN FTP SERVER
In order to support automatic updates of the Media Gateway firmware via an FTP server, the RJ45 port on the rear of the Media Gateway connectivity panel must be connected to a LAN via a CAT5e or CAT6 cable. Before the Media Gateway is able to obtain automatic updates from the FTP server, the FTP site information must be uploaded to the Media Gateway. First, the FTP Address, FTP Username, FTP Password and optionally the FTP Port Address must be saved to a text file on a USB thumb drive as the following file name and extension: “monza.cfg”. The FTP site information can usually be obtained from the IT Manager. Use the provided example to properly format the FTP site information. Once the text file is saved to a USB thumb drive, use the following steps to upload the information to the Media Gateway. 1) Insert the USB thumb drive containing the “monza.cfg” file into the USB port on the front of the Media Gateway. 2 ) Reboot the Media Gateway by passing a TruLink EZ-Key or magnet in front of the right-hand side of the RCA connectors on the front of the Media Gateway connectivity panel. The LED on the front of the Media Gateway connectivity panel will turn from red to blinking green indicating that the information has been updated. This update should take less than 3 seconds. 3) Remove the USB thumb drive when the LED is blinking green. This process must be repeated for each Media Gateway that will receive firmware updates from the FTP server. After this information has been uploaded, the Media Gateway is ready for use and will perform a daily check of the FTP server for new firmware. To enable each Media Gateway connected to the network to download a firmware update, upload new firmware files “monza.ver” and “monza.bin” to the defined FTP Server. When the Media Gateway performs its daily check and finds a new version of the firmware it will automatically load the new firmware and reboot. Please note that the Media Gateway will not load previous versions of firmware and will only update its firmware when it is inactive.
MANUAL FIRMWARE UPDATE Use the following steps to manually upload firmware to the Media Gateway • Download the most up-to-date firmware, “monza.ver” and “monza.bin”, and save the files to a USB thumb drive • Insert the USB thumb drive into the USB port on the front of the Media Gateway connectivity panel •

USAGE REPORTING TOOL The TruLink Media Gateway automatically collects monthly usage information per input. When a Media Gateway is connected to a network and properly setup for an FTP server, each installed Media Gateway will transfer a usage information file, which contains the total number of connections as well as the total time connected per input port, to the FTP server on the first of every month. This information helps track the usage of the Media Gateway per room, and may be useful for hoteliers to determine the success of their communication around this in-room technology offering. Please contact your representative to get more information regarding the Media Gateway Usage Reporting Tool.
