The Challenge Spanish medical integrator Med&Home required a reliable, high performance PTZ camera for its ‘viewLAB’ video management system for clinical environments. Alongside excellent image quality, Med&Home also needed a remotely-controllable camera that could be easily integrated into the system using standard control protocols.
The Solution Med&Home selected a total of 76 Sony SRG-300H and SRG-300SE PTZ video cameras for integration in its viewLAB networked clinical imaging system. Remotely controlled by touchscreens in the OR, the cameras deliver stable, detail-packed Full HD pictures with low image noise, even at high zoom settings. OR staff can easily store and recall camera positions, adjust focus and make other necessary adjustments.
The Benefits The complete viewLAB imaging solution has been successfully deployed at a number of hospitals across Spain. By integrating Sony PTZ video cameras into the system, Med&Home has been able to achieve very high image quality with powerful optical zoom, as well as rugged, reliable operation that meets the exacting demands of modern clinical environments.
Sony Solution Founded in 2008, Med&Home is a Spanish medical integrator whose main activities are focused on the development, manufacture and installation of equipment for integrated operating theatres and treatment rooms. The integrator’s ‘viewLAB’ solution is a complete video capture, management and distribution platform for clinical environments. It allows high-quality footage of clinical procedures to be transmitted live from ORs and treatment rooms for training and education purposes. During the development of its viewLAB system, Med&Home’s engineers identified the requirement for a remotely controlled PTZ (Pan Tilt Zoom) room camera to capture crisply detailed video footage of complex medical procedures within the OR.
As an integral part of its viewLAB system, Med&Home selected Sony’s SRG-300H and SRG-300SE Full HD PTZ video cameras. They’re under the networked control of medical-grade touch screens, allowing OR personnel to record and recall camera positions, automatically or manually adjust focus and illumination, and control camera pan, tilt and zoom movements. The SRG-300H and SRG-300SE PTZ cameras provide excellent image quality thanks to their 1/2.8” Exmor CMOS image sensor that captures smooth, crisply detailed Full HD images at up to 60 fps with extremely low noise levels. Both cameras’ 30x optical zoom and 12x digital zoom allows frame-filling close-ups, while efficient autofocus ensures clear, sharp images, even at high zoom settings.
Results The advanced viewLAB integrated video system by Med&Home has already been deployed at a number of hospitals across Spain. In total, 64 Sony SRG-300H and 12 Sony SRG-300SE cameras feature in viewLAB installations at the Central University Hospital in Asturias, San Carlos Clinical Hospital in Madrid, University Hospital Virgen de La Arrixaca in Murcia, University Clinical Hospital in Santiago de Compostela, Hospital Virgen Macarena in Seville, Hospital Álvaro Cunqueiro in Vigo, Hospital de Ourense, Hospital Gregorio Marañón in Madrid and University Hospital La Paz in Madrid.
