MESA ELECTRONICS 4C22 PC/104 CPU FEATURES: 9.2 MHz or 14.7 MHz V40 CPU Graphic LCD support Scanned keypad support RAM/EPROM/FLASH disk up to 2M RS-232 / RS-485 serial port Low power (less than 1 watt) Made in USA - local support Optional Datalight ROM-DOS Small size 2 year warranty The 4C22 is a low power, all CMOS, XT compatible CPU implemented on the PC/104 bus. The 4C22 is optimized for low cost, high integration, instrument, controller, and user interface applications. The 4C22 has a built-in disk emulator with up to 2M byte capacity, a RS-232/RS-485 serial port, an LCD interface and power supply, a standard keyboard interface, and a scanned keyswitch interface. The 4C22 uses a PC compatible 9.2 or 14.7 MHz V40 CPU with up to 512K bytes of system RAM. The disk emulator consists of two 32 pin dip sockets. Each socket can be configured to use battery backed static RAM, 5V flash EEPROM or regular EPROM. The 4C22 BIOS fully supports the built-in disk emulator as a standard hard disk drive. The emulated drive is bootable and has full compatibility with application and operating system software. The RS-232/RS-485 serial port uses the V40's built-in serial interface and supports baud rates up to 115.2K. The RS-485 serial interface is provided for multi-drop applications. The 4C22 can directly drive small graphic LCDs (up to 320 X 240 pixels). The 4C22 has a built-in adjustable LCD power supply that allows display contrast and backlight brightness adjustment via software. The 4C22 BIOS implements text and graphic output to the LCD display. Standard INT 10 video functions are supported, with the added features of selectable fonts, and user defined TTY regions. Graphic support in the BIOS includes BitBLT, drawdot, line drawing, region save and restore, and character drawing at arbitrary locations. A BGI driver is supplied to simplify writing graphic programs using Borland compilers. The 4C22 has hardware and BIOS support for scanning a keypad with up to 24 switches. The scanned keypad support in the BIOS makes the keypad array appear as a standard keyboard to the system. The keycodes returned from the keypad are user selectable The 4C22 comes with a full set of development utilities, including all flash and RAM disk support programs, Graphic LCD demonstration programs, and utilities for embedding LCD graphic objects into your application programs. Source code is provided for all demonstration programs. MESA 12/94 MESA ELECTRONICS LCD SUPPORT: Direct support of many small LCD panels (single-panel single-drive, 4 data bits). Two plane graphics allow blinking characters and blinking graphic objects with no CPU overhead. Two different sized fonts are provided. Programmable VEE supply with -5V to -18V range (-24V available as option) and 10 bit output adjustment resolution. KEYPAD SUPPORT: 24 key matrix (4x6 array) scanned by BIOS, returns user selectable scan codes. Appears to BIOS calls and DOS to be a standard keyboard. RAM OPTIONS: The 4C22 can be supplied with 128K or 512K bytes of base system RAM. EEPROM SETUP OPTIONS: Many selectable 4C22 options and modes can be stored in the on card EEPROM, including LCD panel type and dimensions, LCD contrast setting, serial port baud rate, console I/O routing, etc. DISK EMULATOR: Two sockets support EPROM's to 1M byte per chip, 5V flash and battery backed RAM to 512K bytes per chip. Uses Atmel / SST 5V flash parts. ROM-DOS OPTION: The 4C22 can be provided with Datalight ROM-DOS as an option. This is a totally ROM resident DOS compatible operating system. ROM-DOS resides in the BIOS ROM, and COMMAND.COM resides in a ROM disk in the BIOS ROM so no disk emulator space is used. The file download utility is built into the ROMDOS ROM disk. 4C22 SPECIFICATIONS: 4C22 PC/104 CPU UTILITY SOFTWARE: Many utility programs are provided with the 4C22 to facilitate embedded system development. These programs include a serial file download utility, Flash and RAMdisk initialization programs, a flash BIOS writer, and a program to simplify the inclusion of graphic objects into your application programs. DEMONSTRATION SOFTWARE: The extended 4C22 firmware and hardware features are illustrated with included demonstration software. C, Pascal, or assembler source is provided for all demonstration software. CLOCK CALENDAR: Battery backed clock calendar with on card Lithium cell. Lithium cell lifetime is 3 years minimum with power off. WATCHDOG TIMER: 1 second timeout watchdog timer for unattended applications. Normally cleared by BIOS tic interrupt service routine. FLASH BIOS: The 4C22 can be optionally supplied with a flash BIOS. This allows BIOS and ROM-DOS upgrades without access to the 4C22 card. CONSOLE REROUTING: Console out can be directed to serial port, LCD panel or video card, console in can come from XT keyboard, keypad, or serial port. RIPL: (Remote Initial Program Load) A built-in BIOS function, allows simple test, start-up, and initialization programs to be down loaded to the 4C22 over the serial port at start-up.
