Rocker Gear-Change Pedal Fitting Instructions - Bonneville America WARNING: Always have Triumph approved parts, accessories and conversions fitted by a trained technician of an authorised Triumph dealer. The fitting of parts, accessories and conversions by a technician who is not of an authorised Triumph dealer may affect the handling, stability or other aspects of the motorcycle operation which may result in an accident causing injury or death. WARNING: This gear-- change pedal is designed for use solely on the Triumph Bonneville America and should not be fitted to any other Triumph model or to any motorcycle of other manufacturers. Fitting this gear-- change pedal to any other Triumph model or to any motorcycle of other manufacturers may interfere with the rider and could affect the stability and handling of the motorcycle leading to an accident causing injury or death. WARNING: Throughout this operation, ensure that the motorcycle is stabilised and adequately supported to prevent the risk of injury from the motorcycle falling. Tighten the new main retaining bolt supplied with the kit to 45 Nm and the original locating bolt to 9 Nm. Ensure that the locating bolt is fitted with the spacer located between the plate and mounting bar Slide gear shift pin rubbers over the gear shift pins and fit the pins to the 20Nm.. 2. Remove the clevis pin from the left hand footrest. Detach the footrest and associated components noting their positions prior to removal. 3. Release the bolt securing the left hand foot control plate assembly to the mounting bar. 4. Separate the foot control plate from the original gearchange pedal. 6. Lightly grease the bearing surface of the new rocker gear-change lever using a lithium based grease. 7. Fit lever to the foot control plate spigot. 8. Re--engage the gear shift rod and screw into place. Do not tighten the locknut at this stage. Ensure the gear-change lever is free to pivot upwards against the force of the return spring. Also ensure that the ā€™Cā€™ clip is securely located at the lower end of the footrest pivot pin. If necessary, adjust the shift rod to WARNING: Failure to tighten any of the fasteners to the correct torque specification may result in an accident causing injury or death. position the gear shift lever to the desired position, ensuring there is adequate clearance for both upward and downward gear shift operations. Gearchange lever 2. Footrest WARNING: Never ride an accessory equipped motorcycle (including those fitted with Triumph approved windscreens and luggage systems) at speeds above 130km/h (80mph). The presence of accessories such as windscreens and luggage systems will cause changes in the stability and handling of the motorcycle. Failure to allow for changes in motorcycle stability may lead to loss of control or an accident. Remember that the 130km/h (80mph) limit will be reduced by the fitting of non-approved accessories, incorrect loading, worn tyres, overall motorcycle condition and poor road or weather conditions.
