Megaplex-2200 Module
ML-E2
E2 Main Link Module
DESCRIPTION • ML-E2 is a main link module
combining all the user traffic of a fully utilized Megaplex-2200 unit, over a single coax or fiber optic 8 Mbps E2 link. A pair of units equipped with ML-E2 modules offers simple and low-cost connectivity with a bandwidth capacity equal to four E1 lines, at distances of up to 75 km (46 miles).
• Various optical interfaces are

over a single 8 Mbps E2 coax or fiber optic link Operates with a wide range of fiber optic interfaces Range up to 75 km (46 miles) Conforms to ITU G.703, G.742, G.823, G.956 Optional additional ML-E2 module provides automatic link backup Station clock interface for external clock Works opposite other E2 interface products, such as RAD’s Optimux-4E1
available for the E2 link: ! 850 nm for multimode fiber using LED transmitter ! 1300 nm for single mode fiber using LED transmitter ! 1300 nm using laser for extended range over single mode fiber ! 1550 nm using laser for maximum range over single mode fiber.
Interfaces are terminated with a pair of ST, FC/PC or SC type connectors.
• An additional ML-E2 module can
be installed in the Megaplex-2200 chassis to operate as an automatic backup link, providing full link redundancy for the first link module.
• The Megaplex-2200 system nodal timing can be taken from the internal oscillator, or from any internal E1 receive channel. Alternatively, the timing can be locked to an external station clock. This clock can then be passed to other connected Megaplex chassis. The external station clock interface is provided with a dedicated RJ-45 connector on the ML-E2’s interface module panel.
• To facilitate system diagnostics,
ML-E2 features LED status indicators and AIS alarm generation and recognition. Local and Remote loopbacks on the E2 link are supported. Additionally, Local and Remote loopbacks can also be run per each internal E1 channel in order to locate the individual data stream which might be causing malfunctions.
• ML-E2 can also operate opposite other products with standard E2 interface, such as RAD’s Optimux-4E1 four E1 to E2 multiplexer. Together these units can be used to connect various types of user traffic to the SDH network ring (see Application).
