MLX100
Ethernet Intelligent Loopback Device
Key Features
Product Description
▪ Low cost Ethernet loopback device for testing end-to-end
The MLX100 is an intelligent Ethernet loopback device developed as the perfect companion to the MX100, MX120, MX300 and TX300 test sets.
network performance when paired with MX100, MX120, MX300 and TX300 test sets ▪ Ideal for testing Transparent, Switched, Routed and Next Generation Carrier Grade Ethernet Networks ▪ 10/100/1000Base-T Electrical (IEEE802.3) port, RJ45 ▪ 1000Base-X Optical port supporting hot swappable, MSA compliant SFP Transceivers
Loopback control can be performed in-band or via the built-in 10/100BaseT Ethernet port via an internet connection. The MLX100 paired with the compatible MX/TX series is the industry’s most cost effective solution for point to point Service Level Agreement (SLA) verification and end-to-end performance testing.
Loopback Modes
▪ Layer 2, and Layer 3 loopback support
Layer 2, and layer 3 modes are available for looping back test traffic;
▪ BERT, RFC2544 and Throughput applications eliminating
For layer 2, all incoming unicast traffic is looped back with the MAC source & destination addresses swapped
the need for an expensive remote test partner ▪ Smart Loopback / Discovery mode eliminating the need for additional personnel to configure remote test unit ▪ In-band loopback control; accepts loopback commands from MX100, MX120, MX300 or TX300 test sets ▪ Out-of-band operation via 10/100Base-T Ethernet management port and Reveal MLX100 software ▪ Activate a loopback profile from a remote location ▪ Default loopback profile storage for fast and easy loopback-ready boot-up ▪ RS232C supervisory port to configure IP address ▪ Reveal MLX100 PC software for remote control operation and loopback profile creation and uploading
Metro Expert
For layer 3, all incoming unicast traffic is looped back with MAC and IP source & destination addresses swapped The optional loopback-ready boot-up profile, allows for fast and easy setup of the MLX100 to begin testing as soon as the device is powered on. This convenient feature is easily configured with Reveal MLX PC software included with the product.
Applications The MLX100 paired with a MX100, MX120, MX300 or TX300 test set, is the industry's most cost effective Ethernet testing solution for the verification of end-to-end Ethernet transport. The MX or TX test units generate Ethernet/IP test traffic to the MLX100, which will loopback the traffic for analysis. This test scenario can be carried out for BERT, RFC 2544, and Multiple Streams throughput tests.
