MODEL 2361 T-1 / E-1 Fiber Optic Modem The EdgeAccess® Model 2361 is a G.703 compliant switch selectable T-1 / E-1 Fiber Optic Modem. Its microprocessor based communications engine supports switch selectable T-1’s 1.544 Mbps and E-1’s 2.048 Mbps speeds, providing a transparent fiber optic link extension for AMI and B8ZS bipolar line codes. The 2361 is modular for flexibility and serviceability. It is composed of three modules: the 2361 Main Module, the L22x Series Electrical Line Interface Module (ELIM), and the L12x Series Optical Line Interface Module (OLIM). It is available as a standalone unit or a UCS1000 rackmount module for installation in Canoga Perkins EdgeAccess® Universal Chassis Systems (UCS). Up to 15 2361 Modems are mountable in a UCS1000 Chassis with up to 240 2361 Modem and other UCS1000 Communication Technology Modules managed from a single UCS Domain and IP Address. Full configuration and management for both ends is supported using a local terminal, Telnet and SNMP. Easy to use menu driven, user-friendly screens and Canoga Perkins SideBand Management Channel, endto-end configuration, status and control of the link is accessible from any modem on the link. To reduce critical circuit downtime, fiber path and full hardware modem redundancy options are supported. With each option, failure in the primary causes an automatic switchover to the secondary fiber link modem. The 2361 is ideal for extending T-1s and E-1s from the SONET Node / Network Core to the customer demarcation point, as well as extending voice and data interconnections between PBXs, Multiplexers, LAN Routers and other devices using T-1 or E-1 connectivity.
