8000HO04146 10/2004 North Andover, MA USA Data Bulletin MODICON® COMPACT™ ASBDAP208 RELAY OUTPUT MODULE General Description The ASBDAP208 is a eight point relay output module. It utilizes logic signals within the controller to activate eight individually isolated, normally open relay contacts. Source voltage for any output load may be 24…154VDC or 24…250VAC. The ASBDAP208 module supports up to 2A continuous (4A instantaneous) at 120/230VAC or 24VDC, up to 1A continuous (0.6A L/R = 20ms) at 60VDC, and up to 0.3A continuous (0.15A L/R = 3ms) at 140VDC. Note: L is load inductance in henries and R is resistance in ohms. This module requires power from an external 24VDC source to support the relay driver (even if all the outputs use AC power). The ASBDAP208 can be installed in any slot in any ASHDTA20x backplane. It operates off the 5V supply voltage provided through a bus connection at the back of the module, along with a user-supplied 24VDC external power source. The ASBDAP208 has nine LED's. One green LED opposite terminal screw 1 indicates the presence of relay coil voltage when ON. Eight red LED's opposite terminal screws 3, 5, 7, 9, 14, 16, 18 and 20 indicate when ON that the relay coils are energized at outputs 1…8, respectively and suggest that the contact is closed and the load is energized. These LED's are in parallel with the coils, not the load. Wiring Diagram and Simplified Schematic for Output Module: Backplanes are ordered separately.
