MODULYS is also characterized by the adoption of innovative solutions as yet unknown to its competitors. Each Mod-Power has in fact an internal controller. By adopting this architecture, each Mod-Power is able to operate independently, thus guaranteeing the total reliability of the whole system. If one ModPower is not working, this will have no effect on system operation, the module will simply be excluded from the system. The same concept of total independence also applies to the Mod-Battery units. If one Mod-Battery is not working, the power supply will not be interrupted.

MODULYS ® The answer to all your needs > Do your needs change over time? MODULYS adapts easily to changes and to the growth of your system. SOCOMEC SICON UPS is the only company able to offer you power modules (Mod-Power) of 1.5, 3, 4.5 and 6 kVA, offering a complete family of products which, in the Tower, Rack and Mod-System versions, are easily combined to ensure the ideal configuration for your present and future power supply requirements.
> Does the protection have to be total? MODULYS is a modular UPS: the number of Mod-Power and Mod-Battery units can easily be increased to provide redundant operation, from N + 1 to N + X. In this way, total availability of the system is achieved (High Availability), even if one or more modules are inoperative.
> Does the protection have to be continuous? SOCOMEC SICON UPS has thought of this, too. In fact the Mod-Power and Mod-Battery units are of the Plug-in type, which can be replaced or inserted while the system is in operation (Hot swap). In this way, true continuity of power supplied to the load is achieved, without any interruption of service.
> Is it difficult to foresee your future needs? Each individual Mod-Power has its own integrated controller and automatic by-pass. In the Mod-System, this design is an additional guarantee since the load will be powered even if one of the Mod-Power is not working.
This is why MODULYS is the most compact UPS in its category. It really requires very little space to install it, whether in the stand-alone versions or in the numerous Mod-System configurations.

The most effective technology for protecting data from mains outage as well as other types of electrical failures. It’s VFI (Voltage Frequency independent) feature, means that the inverter which generates the output voltage permanently supplies the load. Continuity and stability of both the voltage and frequency is thus ensured, irrespective of the mains input.
> Energy management solutions • Power share plug: this is a standard socket dedicated to non-critical loads. It’s able to disconnect its load when a preset condition (relative to remaining back-up) occurs, to save battery back-up time for critical loads. • Eco mode: this operating mode has been designed to power noncritical loads, in order to reduce power consumption on the UPS. • Remote shut down to shut down the UPS from a remote station with NET VISION. • Frequency converter: the frequency converter allows for a 50 Hz input and a 60 Hz output, or vice versa. • Neutral arrangement: MODULYS is also compatible with IT earthing arrangement.

The concept of evolution is the guiding force behind the MODULYS design philosophy, developped to be easily adaptable to the constant changes required by your loads. The Stand Alone units are available in both Tower (Mod-TW) and Rack (Mod-RK) configurations; but most importantly, the Mod-TW units can easily be converted into Mod-RK units, suitable for installation inside standard 19” cabinets, simply by using the appropriate Kit. This solution enables you to decide on the most appropriate use of your UPS at any time.

FROM TOWER TO RACK MOUNTED As your requirements change, MODULYS changes with them. A simple Kit is all that is needed to transform Mod-Tower into Mod-Rack. The ideal solution if your UPS is a Mod-Tower and the evolution of your IT environment forces you to transfer all your IT equipment such as Servers, HUBs, UPS and so on, into 19” cabinets.

Moreover, the single units purchased as Mod-TW or Mod-RK can subsequently be installed in the Mod-System, supporting in this way your requirements for modularity, redundancy and flexibility.
The Mod-RM series enhances the flexibility of being able to integrate in a single 19” Rack both the UPS and all the protected devices (HUB, server, back-up units, etc.). The wirings are preset to simplify all connections. Redundancy, increased power or increased back-up can all be obtained with this special version of MODULYS. Mod-RM has been specifically designed for those uses up to 9 kVA that need a flexible and extremely reliable system. The availability of free slots in Mod-RM 315 and Mod-RM 330 enables the use of others Mod-Power of the same power to obtain system redundancy or to increase the system’s power.

The “tailor-made” UPS. Genuinely powerful and high-performance, MODULYS EB fully meets the needs of the most demanding user. Data processing centres, ISPs and ASPs, Call Centres and other major IT users can rely on the MODULYS EB as the only system able to guarantee the continuity of the service they offer their clients. It is totally reliable and easy to manage and these make it the “tailor-made” UPS for the most powerful IT applications. The MODULYS EB is the most flexible system and most modular system in the entire range. There is a very large number of slots available with which to increase power and back-up, and also install several Mod-Power in order to provide system redundancy, while still maintaining lengthy back-up.

e-SERVICE. Also available is the e-SERVICE* program, which enables the system to send e-mails autonomously to the local Service Centre to report any operating faults in real time. In this way, the local Service Centre will be able to react in the most appropriate way to resolve the problem, with notable advantages in terms of speed and efficiency of the service. Depending on customer requirements, this service can be used to configure a “preventative maintenance” true and proper: automatic control and advanced diagnostics of the various environmental and operating parameters can for example enable the Service Centre to carry out “hot swap” replacement of malfunctioning units, before the client has even had time to realize that there is a malfunction!

With this card, the UPS can be monitored, programmed and controlled either by means of a simple Internet Web Browser or by using an NMS (Network Management Station) to handle the data via SNMP. Specific software modules allow client and server remote shutdown in the network of up to 40 nodes.
e-SERVICE*, enabled via NET VISION allows the system to send diagnostic messages automatically via e-mail to the local Service Centre to report UPS operating failures in real time. In this way, the Service Centre will be able to react in the fastest and most appropriate way to resolve the problem, with obvious advantages in terms of speed and efficiency of the service.

Communication with the user can take place in various languages, including Russian and Chinese. It is possible to: - display the system’s operating status - check the status of the UPS by means of the LEDs - log all events on file.
Input/output isolation transformer allows the electrical safety operating level to be increased (failure on the line) in some environments or permits the neutral arrangements to be changed.
External manual by-pass allow on site maintenance operation on the UPS without interruption.
Distribution panel with IEC320 sockets. Available on the Mod-System only, allows the electrical distribution to be shared between various IEC320 sockets (the IT standard). This enables users to organize their electrical power supply from the UPS straight to the load.
