1. Installation:
1.1 Take note of proper succession 1. Construct and connect the antenna (ribbon cable antenna to X3 and X4, single core antenna to X2 of ID AT-A). 2. Connect supply and signal lines with X1 at ID AT-A 3. Switch on of supply voltage and check of alignment status by means of LED.
1.2
Setting up instructions ID AT-A
Please set up the automatic antenna tuner directly at antenna. The maximum length of connection cable should be no longer than 1 meter. For wall-mounting transparent lid of housing should be removed. ID AT-A can be bolt together with the underground by four drill holes.
1.3 Terminal system / Connection ID AT-A Please connect automatic antenna tuner ID AT-A by mean of clamp X1 with the reader. Figure 1.3-1 shows as an example a connecting system for an ID RW24.ABC-A. In case of metal-frame antenna like ID ANTRW.8060R-A please note to connect PE (separate line) to antenna frame and bridge between GND and PAA on ID RW24.ABC-A! If you want to connect a ribbon cable antenna to ID AT-A, the antenna should be connected to terminal X3 and X4. Please connect a single coiled antenna to terminal X2 of antenna tuner. Also if you are using the connection board ID ANT.AP-B you have to use the terminal X2.
Caution: Connection of ribbon cable antenna (X3 and X4) and single core antenna (x2) at the same time is not possible!

1.5. Instructions for making of antenna The maximum reading distance of reader is substantially being influenced by the construction of the antenna.
1.5.1 General Instructions: Because of its better features, you should prefer an antenna made of ribbon cable to a coiled single core one. ID AT-A is appropriate for antennas having a range of inductivity from 600 µH up to 1200 µH. An effective size of antenna is about 50 cm x 70 cm with about 22 to 26 windings using ribbon cable. For other but similar constructions the inductivity of the antenna should range in-between 1000 µH and 1100 µH. Metal surfaces or parts should be at least 30 cm away from antenna. When using a relatively small antenna reading results might turn out inaccurate if situated close to transponder. The transponder deliver accurate results when operated in a greater distance from antenna.
1.5.2 Instructions for making of a ribbon cable antenna without connection board: The construction set on hand makes a set up of a antenna possible in two ways: On the one hand there are two 26-pin plug manuals on the printed circuit board which you can use to assemble the antenna with ribbon cable enclosed. On the other hand our antenna construction set includes another connecting board (ID ANT.AP-B) which can be connected to the ribbon cable enclosed to set up the antenna. This connecting-board can be connected to terminal X2 of antenna-tuner ID AT-A using the soldered two-core twisted cable. To make a ribbon cable antenna by means of the two 26-PIN plug – manual of ID AT-A, please make a ready-made ribbon cable with cable enclosed using the corresponding spring manuals.
Caution: Please lead ends of ribbon cable through screw joint into the housing of ID AT-A before making it ready-made and then connect it with cable. The easiest way of doing this, is to put one cable upon the other (parallel), buckled in the middle and lead it through the cable connection.

Before fixed antenna is being connected, please check inductivity between the two contacts of clamp X1. Both ends of the ribbon cable leading to the antenna-tuner should be parallel and we recommend to shorten them to minimum length. By using jumpers J1 - J4 you can choose the number of windings (according to table 1.6. 2-1) to keep to the range of inductivity given. Please fix only one jumper J1-J4 at the same time.

X1 serves to crimp the ribbon to the printed circuit board, X2 can serve as a spring- or pin-manual. To connect connecting board and ID AT-A (X2) you can use the two-core twisted cable enclosed to construction set. You can shorten the given length of one meter following your special requirements, but you should not lengthen it. Using jumper J1 to J7 you can choose the number of winding in use to keep to given range of inductivity. Caution: Fix only one jumper J1 to J7 at the same time.

You can calculate the antennas surface by multiplication of mean length of the edge (Table 1.53.). The ratio between length of edge “a” and “b” should not exceed the value of 2:1. You can reach the number of windings 28 and 36 by using a double winded antenna loop. Please use jumpers to choose number of windings 14 or 18 on ID AT-A as connecting board. For the maximum range of readers‘ at a given surface of antenna please choose the highest inductivity (printed in bold).

1.5.4 Instruction for set up a winded single core antenna: Please note to keep the given inductivity range. An efficient antenna size is about 50 cm x 70 cm and 21 to 25 winding using cord (type LiY 0,25 2 mm ). For other but similar constructions an antenna inductivity of approx. 1000µh to 1100µH should be reached. Connection between antenna-tuner and antenna should not exceed a maximum length of 1 meter and has to be twisted. Antenna winding should be as close as possible. Antennas with an internal resistor < 15 Ω can cause the antenna-tuner not to adjust perfectly. Then you should increase the internal resistor of antenna up to approx. 15 Ω by a serial resistor between antenna and antenna tuner. The resistor should layed out for a current of 300 mA. If this is not efficient you should reduce the number of windings by one.
