KMSSTD-01 MSS Type D Terminal KMSSTD-01-DS-Rev 4.3 - October 11, 2012
General Description KMSSTD-01 is a portable satellite terminal works that with INSAT based MSS Transponder for Voice communication. The terminal is developed for voice communication during disasters like flood, earthquake etc., when other communication means have broken down. It can be used from any location of Indian mainland region for emergency communication. This terminal provides voice communication link between two portable terminals and between terminal to PSTN network via hub station. The terminal’s communication channel can be configured in either Permanently Assigned Multiple Access mode or Demand Assigned Multiple Access mode. The terminal has flat panel antenna. It is battery operated with a talk time of 3 Hrs and standby time of 12 Hrs. Terminal has easy user interface with graphical LCD, 5 x 4 keypad and standard handset interface with the option of speaker phone. The terminal has inbuilt compass interface which will be used for antenna alignment along with indications on LCD. Antenna has inbuilt locking mechanism so that it will be align at proper angle matching with line of site of satellite for receiving proper signal strength. User can see the status for signal strength, battery, configured communication mode, configured terminal ID along with satellite channel in use on LCD. For easy user interface, different status indications will be available while terminal is in communication mode. The terminal has different configurable parameters like ID, Channel & communication mode which can be set through the password protected menu for factory settings.
