Easy, Reliable & Secure Installation Guide N300RE WiFi Range Extender Installation Guide Getting Started The WiFi Range Extender extends the WiFi network to include the area outside the range of your wireless router. On/Off button WPS button Factory Reset button WPS Ethernet port PC to Extender Status Link Rate 2 Install the Extender Place the extender and connect it to your WiFi network. Place the Extender and Plug It In 1 Place the extender halfway between your router and the location that has poor WiFi coverage. DO DON’T Tip: If you have to use a different location, move the extender closer to the location with poor coverage, but still within the wireless range of the router. 2 Plug the extender into a power outlet and wait 1 minute until the extender starts. The Status LED lights green. 3 Connect the Extender to Your WiFi Network Do not cable the extender to the router. The extender connects to a network only with WiFi. You can use Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS), or the web browser method.  To connect using WPS: 1 Press the WPS button 2 Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on your wireless router. LED lights. The PC to Extender  To connect with web browser method: 1 On your computer or wireless device, find and join the On_Networks_EXT WiFi network. The PC to Extender LED lights. 2 3 Open a web browser. When prompted, select a language from the list. on the extender. 4 EZ Setup displays. 4 Follow the EZ Setup steps. When the extender joins the WiFi network, the Link Rate LED lights green. The first time the extender joins a WiFi network, the extender WiFi network name (SSID) changes to that network name, with _EXT at the end. For example: WiFi network name: MyNetworkName Extender network name: MyNetworkName_EXT If the extender does not join the WiFi network, move the extender to a different location with a better WiFi signal. For example, you might need to move it higher, or to a position that is more in the open. 5 Join the Extender WiFi Network After you install the extender, you can join the extender WiFi network.  To join the extender network: 1 Take your computer or wireless device to the location with poor WiFi coverage. Find the new extender network name (MyNetworkName_EXT). Select this network and enter the same WiFi password that you use for your home network. If you cannot join the extender network, check the extender LEDs to make sure that it is connected to your home network and is in a location with a good connection. See Extender Performance on page 7. 2 3 6 Extender Performance Make sure that the PC to Extender LED lights green before you check the Link Rate LED for performance. The Link Rate LED indicates performance. • Green indicates the best performance. • Amber indicates a workable performance. • Red indicates a poor connection or no connection. • If the Link Rate LED is off, the extender is not connected to the WiFi network.  To improve the extender performance: 1 Move the extender closer to the router or to a different location with a better line of sight to the router. As you move the extender, check the Link Rate LED and the PC to Extender LED until you find a good location. 2 7 EZ Setup EZ Setup lets you customize the extender network. EZ Setup walks you through these steps: • Select the WiFi network that you want to extend. • Enter the WiFi password for this network. • Name the extender network. • Connect your wireless computer or device to the extender network. Log In to the Extender After you install the extender, you can log in to view or change the settings.  To log into the extender: 1 2 3 Launch a web browser. Enter www.mywifiextender.net. Enter admin for the user name and enter admin for the password. 8 Ethernet Port Connection You can connect equipment such as a computer, TV, Blu-ray player, or gaming console to the Ethernet port on the extender.
