SAFETY INFORMATION The safety information contained in this section and on other pages of this manual must be observed whenever this module is operated, serviced, or repaired. Failure to comply with any precaution, warning, or instruction noted in the manual is in violation of the standards of design, manufacture, and intended use of the module. Siqura assumes no liability for the customer’s failure to comply with any of these safety requirements.
1.1. Trained Personnel Installation, adjustment, maintenance, and repair of this equipment are to be performed by trained personnel aware of the hazards involved. For correct and safe use of the equipment and in order to keep the equipment in a safe condition, it is essential that both operating and servicing personnel follow standard safety procedures in addition to the safety precautions and warnings specified in this manual, and that this module be installed in locations accessible to trained service personnel only.
1.2. Safety Requirements The equipment described in this manual has been designed and tested according to the UL/IEC/EN 60950-1 safety requirements. If there is any doubt regarding the safety of the equipment, do not put it into operation. This might be the case when the equipment shows physical damage or is stressed beyond tolerable limits (e.g. during storage and transportation).
1.3. EMC The equipment has been tested and found to meet the EC-regulations relating to EMC, the IEC 61000 series Industrial immunity, and complies with the limits for a EN 55022 Class B emissions device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against interference to radio communications in any installation. The equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy; improper use or special circumstances may cause interference to other equipment or a performance decrease due to interference radiated by other equipment. In such cases, the user will have to take appropriate measures to reduce such interactions between this and other equipment. Any interruption of the shielding inside or outside the equipment could make the equipment more prone to fail EMC requirements. Ensure that all electrically connected components are carefully earthed and protected against surges (high voltage transients caused by switching or lightning).

Safety Information
1.4. ESD Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can damage or destroy electronic components. Proper precautions should be taken against ESD when opening the equipment.
1.5. Product Disposal Recycling The unit contains valuable materials which qualify for recycling. In the interest of protecting the natural environment, properly recycling the unit at the end of its service life is imperative.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION 2.1. Product Overview General The MC 11 DC – 24 V 19” redundant power supply cabinet can house up to eleven 7 TE Eurocassete type Siqura plug-in modules, supplying these with the correct DC voltages. Model The MC 11 DC – 24 V provides fully redundant input and powering to the modules it houses. It is fitted with two DC inputs and two identical DC/DC conversion circuitry to provide for the highest availability possible. The two internal power supplies employ active current sharing for optimal thermal performance. The current sharing technique does not impact redundant operation. An unpowered input or a power failure on either one of the inputs or outputs is indicated by an unlit LED for the applicable DC connector as well as by an open contact closure on the galvanic isolated contact. The contact closure is normally closed and illuminated, green LEDs signify an appropriate DC power voltage for the input as well as the outputs for each DC connector. The two built-in fans provide sufficient cooling under full-load operation over a wide temperature range. The fans also allow for mounting the cabinets on top of each other, thus using every inch of available rack space.
please note
To prevent overheating and allow air circulation, keep at least 1 cm above and below and 10 cm in front of and behind the mounted cabinets.
With the exception of the back panel fans, all wiring is located at one site for ease of use, maintenance, and service. The reversible mounting bracket offers you the choice of positioning the handles on either the front or back side of the chassis. Compatibility The MC 11 DC - 24 V is compatible with all Siqura codec/server series or MC series fiber modems.

Installation
3.
INSTALLATION 3.1. Mounting the Cabinet To mount the MC 11 DC - 24 V
1.
Mount the unit horizontally without the modules. Check whether the DC voltage supply is correct.
2.
Keep sufficient free space around the rack to allow circulation of cooling air.
3.
The chassis should be connected to a safety ground by either:
Using the connection on the side of the cabinet
Mounting the cabinet in a grounded, 19” system.
4.
Fasten the cable to the strain relief extending out from the DC screw connector.
5.
Connect the power cord to the DC connector and switch on the cabinet. The electric fans should be working. If not, switch off and check the power voltage.
6.
Switch off the MC 11 DC - 24 V cabinet and install the Siqura modules. Refer to the relevant module manuals for installation instructions. Unused slots should be covered with 7 TE blanking plates.
7.
Switch on the cabinet. Both fans should be blowing outwards.

Care and Maintenance
4.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE 4.1. General Maintenance To keep the module operating reliably, observe the following.
Prevent dust from collecting on the module.
Do not expose the equipment to moisture.
Keep the module within the appropriate temperature range as described in the technical specification (see section 2.3).
Replacing the Fans The two electric fans in the MC 11 DC - 24 V must be replaced every five years (replacements may be obtained from Siqura). To replace fans
1.
Switch off the MC 11 DC - 24 V cabinet and disconnect it from the power supply.
2.
Remove the cover (see figure 4.1).
3.
Disconnect the fans’ power supply leads.
4.
Remove each electric fan and replace it with a new one. Ensure that the fans’ blowing direction is facing out. Use the washers and nuts as indicated in figure 4.1 for one of the fastening screws.
5.
Reconnect the power leads for the fans.
6.
Replace the cover.
7.
Reconnect the power cabinet to the DC socket and switch on. Check whether the fans are blowing outwards.
