WOOFER SPECIFICATION SHEET TECHNICAL DESIGN FEATURES The NEO subwoofer series has been designed and engineered, to provide tight and accurate bass reproduction with exceptionally precise transient response and high maximum SPL. Every aspect of the technical NEO series woofer design has been tuned and optimized to deliver an unprecedented over-all performance in small to medium sized enclosures. NEO Woofer Key Features: ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ Aluminum Die-Cast Basket Neodymium Magnet Motor SymFlux Neodymium Return Structure Design Black Anodized ”Non-Transfer” Aluminum Cone Santoprene™ Hi-Excursion Rubber Edge Forced Cooling by Circle Array Aerovents NOMEX™ Mirrored Double Spider Suspension Black Anodized Aluminum Voice Coil Former 4-Layer wound OFC Copper Coil Thermally Conductive Hi-Emissivity Coatings and Glues Back- and Intervented (Double)-Spider System The EMPHASER NEO woofer line features a revolutionary new magnet motor technology. The symmetrical return structure Neodymium Drive Technology incorporates the use of two stacked neodymium plates lying inside the huge diameter voice coil. The neodymium magnet motor assembly provides a symmetrically linear control of the cone excursion, until the electrical/mechanical excursion limits are reached. The NEO-drive magnet return structure is made of high-density carbon steel featuring a circle array of aerovents, located directly underneath the voice coil former. This construction guarantees a forced cooling of the voice coil unit in direct proportional dependency of the input power load. The aluminum alloy cones use thick, high-density aluminum sheet material. The cones straight/non-transfer shapes render ultimate cone stiffness values, whilst maintaining a low to medium total weight of the moving system. Unsurpassed musicality and dry, rock-hard impact, even under extreme SPL conditions, i.e. without any distortion commonly encountered with the most of all other cone materials. The progressive double spider suspension design (except the EM10NEO woofer, that features a single spider construction), consists of two mirrored spider units, made of the heat resistant and nearly undestroyable aramide fiber material Nomex™. The double damper suspension is carefully matched to the broad, ultra-longthrow Santoprene™ rubber edge. This sophisticated mechanical suspension guides the cones towards the excursion maximum, always maintaining the same suspension characteristics under any given circumstances. Black anodized aluminum is used as former material, adding extra mechanical strength to the voice coil units. Formers of 2,5" or 3" diameter are used, with 4-layer windings, the complete units withstand temperatures in excess of 400°C. All adhering joints concerning cone bodies, dustcaps or formers are using thermally conductive glues, to take advantage of the cone surface exhibiting highly effective heatsink properties. This adds another edge to the power handling capabilities of this woofer line. The extra thick tinsel lead wires offer a constantly low resistance, the special insulation of the wires with silicon-rubber tubes absorbs mechanical stress and improves the resistance against mechanical wear. Last but not least, the attachment of the leadwires to the terminal connector lugs feature a technically elegant solution too: The leadwires are first mechanically fixed/attached to the connector lugs, before they are soldered to the blade. This relieves unwanted vibrations from the soldering points. EMPHASER Laboratories recommend to use the drivers of the NEO line in combination with sealed, vented and bandpass enclosures. For optimum performance, make sure to follow the basic enclosure suggestions listed overleaf. All three enclosure suggestions are guaranteed to deliver excellent results; each of them featuring a different performance emphasis. If – for some reason – the provided system/enclosure suggestions cannot be applied within your specific vehicle or sound system, please contact your EMPHASER dealer for further assistance. For best results we highly recommend the enclosures to be constructed out of MDF (Medium Density FiberBoard) or birch plywood of either 19 mm or 22 mm strength. The sealed enclosure must be absolutely airtight! The enclosures should be principle-specifically dampened: WARRANTY EMPHASER Inc. Wyoming, Michigan USA warrants each NEO woofer to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for one year from the date of purchase, contingent upon being installed in a proper enclosure as built or approved by an authorized EMPHASER dealer. EMPHASER Inc. will at its own discretion repair or replace any mechanically defective speaker during this warranty period. Should your EMPHASER NEO woofer require warranty service, please return it to the retailer from whom it was purchased. Please do not send any product to EMPHASER Inc., Wyoming, Michigan U.S.A. Should you have difficulty in finding an authorized EMPHASER service center, details are available from the national distributor in the country of purchase. SEALED ENCLOSURE Net Volume: PORTED ENCLOSURE Net Volume: Inside Diameter of Port: Port Length: BANDPASS ENCLOSURE ● ● ● The sealed enclosure must be filled completely with acrylic fiber, or - even better with stone wool. The inner walls of the ported enclosure should be lined with structured PU-foam. The sealed chamber of the bandpass enclosure has to be filled with acrylic fiber while the ported chamber remains free of damping material. Abuse of the woofer due to excessive amplifier power, improper enclosure design, amplifier clipping or physical damage is not covered under warranty. EMPHASER Inc. Wyoming, Michigan U.S.A
