Netcomm NB2 Configuring in Layer2 PPPoE for Windows XP and 2000 Contents 1. Uninstall Previous Driver 2. Install New Driver 3. Authentication/login procedure Please ensure you have the installation CD that came with your modem. You will need this when reinstalling the drivers. If you have misplaced this CD please download the driver from http://www.netcomm.com.au/Support/index.php before you begin 1. Uninstall previous driver Note: Do not unplug the modem until prompted a. Click on Start then Programs and locate Netcomm Home ADSL USB Modem. Click on Uninstall 1 b. Click Yes to “Are you sure you want to remove the software?” c. The un-installation process will now begin d. Select Yes, reboot the computer now and click on close 2. Install New Driver a. After your computer has rebooted, insert the “NB2 - Home USB ADSL Modem” driver CD-ROM into your CD drive. The following menu screen will appear automatically. Click on the “Install NB2 Drivers” button to continue. If the screen below does not automatically appear, from the desktop click on the Start button located in the bottom left corner, select Run, then type x:\driver\NB2\setup.exe – where x is the letter of your CD-ROM drive. 2 b. The NB2 Modem Setup Wizard will now launch and you will see the following screen. Click on Next button to continue. c. When the License Agreement screen appears, and you agree to the listed terms and conditions, click the Accept button to continue. 3 d. The Select Service Provider Screen allows you to select your ISP from a list, please scroll to the bottom of the list and select “Other Service Provider” click the Next button once it has been selected. Note: Please do not select option 12 - TPG (PPPoA) e. From the Select Driver Type window, click on “WAN Driver” and click on the Next button. 4 f. Under the Communications Settings page, please enter the following settings: • VPI: 8 • VCI: 35 • Encapsulation: please select “RFC 2516 PPPoE Encapsulation” • Modulation: drop down menu o For ADSL customers: G.DMT o For ADSL2+ customer: Multimode Once all settings have been entered, please click on the Next button. g. Please verify the details are correct. If you need to make any adjustments please click on Back else click on Next 5 h. Setup Wizard will now start to prepare your system for installation i. Once Installation Wizard has finished copying the files to your computer, it will prompt you to plug your modem to a spare USB port on your computer j. Please select Yes, reboot the computer now 6 k. Click on the Finish button 3. Authentication/login procedure a. After your computer has rebooted, click on the Globespan Dialup PPP Connection icon on the desktop of your computer. b. Please enter the following details: • User name: - @L2TP.tpg.com.au for Fixed IP plans OR - @PPP.tpg.com.au for Dynamic IP plans (e.g. [email protected]) • Your Password by default is the same as your however if you have changed your password since registration time, please use your current TPG password • Tick Save this user name and password for the following users: Me only 7 c. Click on Dial d. The NB2 will connect to TPG and verify once successful e. Your network configuration has now been completed and you can start to use TPG’s service.
