  NetVault Backup Health Check Description The NetVault Backup Health Check Services Offering is designed to assist with a general assessment and understanding of the NetVault environment. We will assess the general health of the NetVault deployment, make recommendations as required, and provide appropriate knowledge transfer regarding basic NetVault operations and best practices. The NetVault Health Check is a service offering ideally suited for organizations that want to make sure their deployment is optimally configured for their specific environment or those preparing for expansion or upgrade. Outcomes The NetVault Backup Health Check will help you identify potential issues with your data protection deployment and find ways to remediate them quickly for ongoing top performance of your solution. During the health check, our support engineers provide a technical assessment of your NetVault Backup deployment to identify and prioritize system improvements. We will share expert knowledge with your IT staff members to make sure everyone is aware of the full potential of your solution and, ultimately, to ensure that your deployment is working as efficiently as possible. The Health Check comes in three sizes to fit your specific environment: Small, Medium, and Large. Benefits:  Identify existing issues and bottlenecks  Uncover current performance, configuration and availability problems and get recommendations for resolving them  Review best practices for ongoing optimal system performance  Learn from product experts to maximize the value from your solution  Receive a comprehensive report with findings Approach and activities We will contact you to schedule the Health Check, allowing for at least two business days prior to the start, based upon a mutually agreed to resource availability and start date (note that project coordination and planning will start immediately upon completion of order processing). The Health Check will be provided remotely, during normal business hours Monday through Friday (8:00am to 6:00pm Customer local time). No service activities shall take place during local, state and/or country holidays unless other arrangements have been made through the project manager. The Health Check consists of a fixed set of activities as time permits. Changes to the activities cannot be made without a fully executed amendment – an amendment may change the pricing of the offering. 1. Project Management – A Project Manager will be involved in project initiation, resource scheduling and project wrap up. The Project Manager is responsible for:  Sending out a project initiation documentation packet consisting of a pre installation checklist, HW/SW requirements document, project logistics document and information on IP port numbers  Coordination of the remote service dates with your main point of contact  Answering questions resulting from your review of the materials in the welcome packet     Assignment of a NetVault Support Specialist Management of project documentation, including daily or weekly status reports 2. Planning – We will host a planning session to verify environment readiness and establish the base deployment architecture.  Finalize logistics including scheduling, remote access requirements and web conferencing needs  Send project initiation documentation packet consisting of a pre installation checklist, HW/SW requirements document, project logistics document and information on IP port numbers, contacts, remote access, DBA contact, and other prerequisites  Verify the software prerequisites are installed within the environment 3. NetVault Health Check – This is a joint engagement with the customer and support consultant. The objective of this activity is to assess the current implementation of NetVault to determine the following:  Review pre requisites and current technical needs  Review current installation to make sure the Pre-installation requirements are met  Server Hardware o NetVault server Hardware & Operating System o Network\Storage  Software Configuration o Software versions o NetVault server settings o 3rd Party Software o Dedupe Sizing when DR is being used (Advanced) o Retention Policy o Licensing  Target Devices o Storage Utilization o Projected Growth Rate o Estimated time until storage is full o Warnings or error messages  Client/Plugin Review  Jobs Review o Business Requirements o Job Performance o Nightly jobs o Are there Failing jobs  Review the pre-installation requirements needed before the installation of any future servers or clients  Reporting 4. Knowledge Transfer  We will provide and review a report on our findings and recommendations  Review features and functions related to your NetVault environment  Provide best practices related to administrative and system maintenance / daily and monthly administrative checks  Assist with an efficient NetVault backup and restore solution o Backups 2     o Restores o Common issues \ best practices Services Effort Small Medium Large NetVault Server(s) 1 NetVault Server 1 - 2 NetVault Servers 2+ NetVault Servers Clients (file systems) 1 - 10 1 - 50 50 - 100 Number of Jobs 1 - 25 25 - 100 100 - 200 Prerequisites and assumptions            This offer is for North America (US/Canada) customers only You agree to be available during the scheduled Service time frame; If you cannot be available for the scheduled time frame, the service will be rescheduled at an available time of our choosing (In coordination with the customer) You must have valid licenses for the applicable software product(s) and be current on support services for such products Your NetVault Administrator with system administration responsibilities will be available and provide appropriate remote access privileges required during the performance of the Health Check NetVault must be running Your network administrator resource participation during engagement Provide other technical and business resources as needed to participate in the engagement Provide the NetVault Support Specialist remote access to the Prod and test environment Your environment will meet or exceed the hardware and operating environment software minimum requirement outlined in the NetVault Compatibility Guide NetVault installed must be a supported version listed in the NetVault Product Lifecycle table It is your responsibility to complete a backup of all existing data, software, and programs on supported products prior to performing any services The information above is a general description of software consulting services that Quest may provide during the services engagement.
