Chapter 1 1.1
Installation
NVR Installation
During installation of the NVR:

Ensure the device is installed in a well-ventilated, dust-free environment.
The device is designed for indoor use only.
Keep all liquids away from the device.
Ensure environmental conditions meet factory specifications.
Power down the device before connecting and disconnecting accessories and peripherals.
Hard Disk Installation
Before you start: Disconnect the power from the NVR before installing a hard disk drive(HDD). A factory recommended HDD should be used for this installation. Tools Required: Screwdriver. NVR with 4 or 8 HDD Steps: (1) Remove
the cover from the NVR by unfastening the screws on the rear panel.
(2) Insert the hard disk along the slot and fasten it.
(3) Connect the power & data cable to the NVR and HDD.
(4) Close the cover and fasten it with the screws. NVR with 1 or 2 HDD Steps: (1)
Remove the cover from the NVR by unfastening the screws on the side and rear panel.

(2) Fasten
the HDD withe screws on the bottom.
(3) Connect the power & data cable to the NVR and HDD.
(4) Close the cover and fasten it with the screws.

2.1
Getting Started
Startup and Shutdown
2.1.1 Startup Plug in the power cord, press the power switch, the power indicator light should turn bright. The device will begin to start. After the device starts up, the video output defaults to multiple screen output mode. 2.1.2 Shutdown Option 1: Press the power key on front panel to shutdown the device(should be supported by the device). Option 2: Click Start→Shutdown→Confirm (Prompt: It is recommended to use this way, in order to avoid damage to the device when suddenly powered off.)

Login
If NVR first start-up or has logged out, you must login the device before operating the menu and other functions.

Using Guide
The Guide starts once login, shown as following picture.

button. You can also choose to use the Guide next time by leaving the “Next time no
longer display” check-box unchecked. (2) Click Next button to enter the Display Setting window, as shown in figure 2.4.

2.4
Menu operation
After the user login successfully, according to the interface of the upper toolbar to perform associated settings:

2.4.1 Begin setup Click the
icon,it will pop-up the interface as right picture:
Logout: Click Logout button, can exit the current user.
Guide: Click Guide button, it will pop-up boot wizard setting interface, simply configure language, display resolution, basic network parameters, and mobile phone app to access the QR Code display.
Reboot: Click Reboot button and confirm, the device will automatically reboot.
Shutdown: Click Shutdown button and confirm, the device will automatically shutdown.
2.4.2 Adding IP Cameras Purpose: Before you can get live video or record the video files, you should add the network cameras to the connection list of the device. Before you start: Ensure the network connection is valid and correct, and the IP camera to add has already been activated. Steps:

icon, enter into the Channel Connecting interface, shown as in figure 2.8.

Click
icon, it will automatically search all the IP cameras connected to the NVR.
Select the detected IP camera and click the
button to add it directly, and you can click the Search
button to refresh the online IP camera manually.
Or you can choose to custom add the IP camera by editing the parameters in the corresponding text field and then click the Save button to add it, shown as in figure 2.9.

3.1
Live View
Introduction of Live View
Live view shows you the video image getting from each camera in real time. The NVR will automatically enters live view mode when powered on, shown as following picture.

4.1
Camera Settings
Configuring OSD Settings
Purpose: You can configure the OSD(On-screen Display) settings for the camera, including camera name, date /time, etc. Steps: (1) Enter the OSD Configuration interface. Channel Setting ->Channel Parameter ->Display Setting (2) Select the channel of camera to configure OSD settings. (3) Local Channel Name setting.
Check the check-box before Show Local Channel Name, then enter the Local Channel Name in the text field.
Click Save button, the name that enter will show on the screen. You can use the mouse to click and drag the text frame on the window to adjust the OSD position.
(4) IP Camera Name setting(should be supported by the camera).
Check the check-box before Show Channel Name, then enter the Channel Name in the text field.
Click Save button, the name that enter will show on the screen, You can use the mouse to click and drag the text frame on the window to adjust the OSD position.

Encoding Type
Purpose: Sometimes you need to edit the channel Camera Encoding parameters for better image. Steps:
Enter the Encoding Type interface. Channel Setting ->Channel Parameter ->Encoding Type

Select the channel of camera to configure the encoding type.
Encoding Type: Select Main Stream or Sub Stream.
Resolution: Select the display resolution.
Bitrate Type: CBR & VBR can be selected.
Bitrate: Set the bitrate.
Frame Rate: Select the frame rate.
Select Video Quality, default: Best. 10

Configuring Privacy Mask
Purpose: You are allowed to configure the four-sided privacy mask zones that cannot be viewed by the operator. The privacy mask can prevent certain surveillance areas to be viewed or recorded. Steps:
Enter the Privacy Mask Settings interface. Channel Setting ->Channel Parameter ->Video Tampering

Select the camera to set privacy mask.
Click the check-box of Enable Video Tampering to enable this feature.
Use the mouse to draw a zone on the window, up to 4 privacy mask zones can be configured and the size of each area can be adjusted.

5.1
PTZ Controls
Configuring PTZ Settings
Follow the procedure to set the parameters for PTZ. The configuring of the PTZ parameters should be done before you control the PTZ camera. Steps: (1) Enter the PTZ Setting interface. System Setting->PTZ Setting
Figure 5.1 PTZ General Setting Interface (2) Channel: Choose the channel. (3) Protocol: Choose the protocol for your PTZ. (4) Decoder Address: Choose the decoder address. (5) Baud Rate: Select the baud rate. (6) Data Bit: Select the data bit. (7) Stop Bit: Select the stop bit. (8) Verify: Select the verify, Non Parity by default. (9) Stream Control: Select the stream control, None by default. (10) Click Save button to save the settings.

Setting PTZ Preset, Cruise & Pattern
Before you start: Please make sure that the preset, cruise and pattern should be supported by PTZ protocols.

Network Video Recorder User Manual 5.2.1 Customizing Preset Follow the steps to set the Preset location which you want the PTZ camera to point to when an event takes place. Steps: (1) Use the directional button to wheel the camera to the location where you want to set preset, and the zoom and focus operations can be recorded in the preset as well. (2) Click Preset, then enter the preset Name in the preset text field, and click the Setting button to link the location to the preset. Repeat the above steps to save more presets. You can click the Clear button to clear the location information of the preset.
5.2.2 Customizing Cruise Purpose: Patrols can be set to move the PTZ to different key points and have it stay there for a set duration before moving on to the next key point. The key points are corresponding to the presets. The presets can be set following the steps above in Customizing Presets. Steps: (1) Select cruise No. in the drop-down list of cruise. (2) Click the Setting button to add key points for cruise. (3) Configure key point parameters, such as the key point No., duration of staying for one key point and speed of cruise. The key point is corresponding to the preset. The Key Point No. determines the order at which the PTZ will follow while cycling through the cruise. The Cruise time refers to the time span to stay at the corresponding key point. The Speed defines the speed at which the PTZ will move from one key point to the next. (4) Click the Add button to add the next key point to the patrol. (5) After finish setting, click Exit button. 5.2.3 Customizing Pattern Purpose: Patterns can be set by recording the movement of the PTZ. You can call the pattern to make the PTZ movement according to the predefined path. Steps: (1) Choose pattern number in the drop-down list. (2) Click the Start recording button and click corresponding buttons in the control panel to move the PTZ camera, and click the Stop button to stop it. The movement of the PTZ is recorded as the pattern.

Recording
Configuring Parameters
Before you start: Make sure that the HDD has already been installed. If not, please install a HDD. Steps: (1) Enter the Record settings interface to configure the recording parameters. Channel Setting->Recording Setting.

Pre-Record: The time you set to record before the scheduled time or event.
Recording Delay: The time you set to record after the scheduled time or event.
Note: Use the Copy to to do the same setting to the channel needed. 14

Playback
Playback Recording Files
7.1.1 Real-time Playback Purpose: Playback the recorded video files of a specific channel in the live view mode. Steps: Choose a channel in live view mode and click the
button in the in the bottom of the channel.

Purpose: The record files can be backup to various devices, such as USB devices (USB flash drives, USB HDDs). Click

9.1
Configuring Basic Settings
Purpose: Network settings must be properly configured before you operate NVR over network. Steps: Enter the Network Parameter interface.
System Setting -> Network Parameter Select the Basic Setting tab.
9.1 Basic Network Setting Interface In the Basic Setting interface, you can configure the following settings: IPv4 Address, IPv4 Gateway and
DNS Server. After having configured the basic settings, click Save button to save the settings.
9.2
Configuring DDNS
Purpose: You can set the Dynamic DNS (DDNS) for network access. Steps:
Enter the Network Parameter interface.
Select the DDNS Setting tab to enter the DDNS Setting interface.

Check the Enable DNS check-box to enable this feature.
Select the Server Type, default:3322. 21

Input the Port number, default: 80.
Input the User Name and Password.
Enter the Device Domain Name.
Click Save button to save the settings.

Configuring Email
Purpose: The system can be configured to send an Email notification to all designated users if an alarm event is detected, etc., an alarm or motion event is detected or the administrator password is changed. Steps:
Enter the Email Setting interface.
9.3 Email Configuration Interface
Configure the following Email settings:
The Sender Email Address: The Email address of sender. Password: The Email password of sender. SSL: Click the check-box to enable SSL if required by the SMTP server. Attachment: Check the check-box of attachment if you want to send email with attached file. User Name: The name of user to be notified. Receiver Email address: The Email address of user to be notified. SMTP Server: The SMTP Server IP address or host name. SMTP Port: The SMTP port. The default TCP/IP port used for SMTP is 25.
Click Save button to save the Email settings.
You can click Test Email to test whether your Email settings work.

10.7 Schedule Setting Interface (7) Setup the linkage operation of the channel. (8) Click Save button to save the settings. Note: If you want to set motion detection for another channel, repeat the above steps or just click Copy to in the Motion Detection interface to copy the above settings to it.

Steps: (1) Enter Video Lost Setting of channel parameter and choose a channel you want to setup Video Lost Alarm. Channel Setting->Channel Parameter->Video Lost

Detecting Video Mask Alarm
Purpose: Trigger alarm when the lens is covered and take alarm response action(s). Steps: (1) Enter Video Mask Alarm interface of channel parameter and choose a channel you want to set up Video Mask Alarm Channel Setting->Channel Parameter->Video Mask

Check the check-box of Enable Mask Alarm.

Chapter 11
Smart Detection
The NVR supports the Smart detection alarm sent by IP camera or the NVR. The Smart detection must be enabled and configured on the IP camera and NVR settings interface first. Note: The Frontal detection must be supported by the connected IP camera.
11.1
Detect Mode
Steps: (1) Enter the detect mode setting interface. Channel Setting->Smart Detection->Detect Mode.

Object Count Detection
Purpose: Object Count function detects the object appears in the surveillance scene during a specified time, and some certain actions can be taken when the alarm is triggered. Steps: (1) Enter the detect mode setting interface. Channel Setting->Smart Detection->Object Count (2) Select the Channel. (3) Check the Enable check-box to enable the object count detect function. (4) Check the Show in Preview check-box to display the information in preview window. (5) Click and draw a virtual line in the window. You can use re-draw it. (6) Click the rule setting to set the area.

Statistics interval: Set the time interval of object count. Alarm threshold: Set the value of object count, which will begin to alarm when the counts result larger than it. Enable total statistics.
Statistics period: Set the period of time to progress the total statistics. Total alarm threshold: Set the value of total count numbers, which will begin to alarm when the counts result larger than it. Area(part per 10 thousand): The size of object begin to count. (8) Set the schedule time. (9) Set the Linkage Operation. (10) Click Save button to activate the settings.

The line crossing direction can be set as bidirectional, from left to right or from right to left. And you can set the duration for the alarm response actions. Steps: (1) Enter the detect mode setting interface. Channel Setting->Smart Detection->Virtual Cordon (2) Select the Channel. (3) Check the Enable check-box to enable the function. (4) Check the Show in Preview check-box to display the information in preview window. (7) Click and draw a virtual line in the window. You can use

Purpose: The configuration files of the NVR can be exported to local device for backup; and the configuration files of one NVR can be imported to multiple NVR devices if they are to be configured with the same parameters. Steps: (1) Enter the Configuration Management interface. Maintenance->Configuration Management

Purpose: Multiple HDDs can be managed in groups. Video from specified channels can be recorded onto a particular HDD group through HDD settings. Steps: (1) Enter the Disk Grouping interface. Disk Manager- > Disk Grouping (2) Select the Manual Grouping, as shown below.
