HELPFUL FACTS ON HARASSING AND SOLICITATION CALLS Harassing Calls Making threatening, obscene or nuisance calls is a violation of state and federal laws. The maximum penalty for violation is a fine of $1,000.00 or one year imprisonment or both. We hope it doesn’t happen to you, but, if you receive a threatening call report it immediately to the police. If you receive obscene or nuisance calls here are some guidelines to follow: Hang up gently at the first obscene word or if the caller doesn’t say anything the second time you say hello. Do not give any information such as name, address or if you are at home alone. Advise any children to do the same. If calls persist, contact the police department for alternatives or to request call tracing. Often changing your number will resolve the problem. Call the New Florence Telephone business office for details and charges.
REPORTING TROUBLE AND REPAIR If you experience service problems you can reach our Trouble and Repair line at: 1-573-835-2997. New Florence Telephone is responsible for repair and maintenance of our network and cable up to the Network Interface Device (NID) on the outside of your home or business. All wiring and jacks or other attachments past the NID to the inside of your home or business are considered customer premise equipment and are the responsibility of the customer. Repairs to customer premise equipment require additional service charges unless you subscribe in advance to the Maintenance Agreement Service. (See Optional Services.) In order to avoid service charges for repair or maintenance to customer premise equipment we recommend that you try to isolate the problem before calling in to report trouble with your telephone service. Following the steps below will help you isolate the problem. 1. Check to make sure that all cords are firmly plugged in. 2. Check to make sure that all handsets are in place. 3. If you cannot make outgoing calls, unplug all of your phones, answering machines, etc. At various jacks test each phone individually by plugging it in and trying to dial out. If none of the phones work in a particular jack, the trouble is with the customer premise wiring to that particular jack. 4. If you still do not find the problem you can take one or more of your telephones to the NID and use the test jack there. To use the test jack at the NID 1. Remove plug by pressing retainer clip and gently pulling plug forward. 2. Plug your phone directly into the NID. 3. Listen for a dial tone and try dialing out. If the telephone is not operational from the test jack try another telephone and repeat steps 1-3. 4. If your telephones are not operational at the NID the problem is in the outside wiring or network and you should contact the Trouble and Repair line immediately from a friend or neighbor´s telephone. CAUTION: Telephone wires have voltages ranging from 48 VDC to 105 VAC.
To avoid shock use insulated tools or protective clothing when repairing or installing telephone wiring. Disconnect plug from NID during installation and repair of all inside wiring. This confidential information includes such things as, specific services you purchase, the number of services purchased, who your provider is for a service, call detail records, and charges related to the services purchased. This information is referred to as Customer Proprietary Network Information (CPNI). Due to the sensitive nature of CPNI, on April 2, 2007, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) released new rules pertaining to the security of CPNI with special emphasis on call detail CPNI. Call detail CPNI refers to any and all information pertaining to the transmission of specific telephone calls such as telephone number called, telephone number calling, time, date, charges, location and duration of the telephone call. If you happen to lose or forget your password, New Florence Telephone Company has implemented a back-up authentication method. We will ask that you provide us with the answer to a secret question. This secret question should prompt you for a response that will allow us to provide you with your password. The secret questions provided will not be derived from biographical information. If you choose not to establish a password and/or answer a secret question, below are alternatives which can be used in order for us to discuss or provide you call detail information. New Florence Telephone Company may discuss only the call detail information you provide such as called number, when it was called, the duration of the call, and, if applicable, the amount charged for the call. New Florence Telephone Company can send the call detail information to the address of record that we have on file for you. New Florence Telephone Company can call you back at the telephone number of record from which your service is derived. New Florence Telephone Company may disclose call detail CPNI to you at our business office with a valid photo ID matching the name listed on the account. Note that we are only authorized to disclose call detail CPNI to the individual(s) listed on the account with a valid photo ID. The new CPNI rules also require we notify you immediately if your password,

To set up Speed Dialing Numbers: 1. Press *74 (rotary 1174) for 1-digit Speed Dial (Speed Dial-8); listen for three beeps and a steady dial tone. Press *75 (rotary 1175) for 2-digit Speed Dial (Speed Dial-30); listen for three beeps and a steady dial tone. 2. Enter a Speed Dial code (2 - 9 for Speed Dial-8 or 20 - 49 for Speed Dial-30). 3. Enter desired telephone number, press # and listen for three beeps. Hang up. To use Speed Dialing: Press desired Speed Dialing code (2 - 9 or 20 - 49), then press #. To change Speed Dial Entries: Repeat steps 1 through 4. NOTE: Speed Dialing does not work for long distance numbers when you have Toll Restrictions or Toll Control with PIN activated. THREE-WAY CALLING Three-Way Calling allows you to add a third party to an existing telephone conversation. To set up a Three-Way Call: 1. Place your first call to one of the parties you wish to have on a Three-Way Call. 2. Depress switchhook, then listen for three beeps and a steady dial tone. (Present call is placed on hold.) 3. Dial the third party’s telephone number. If busy or no answer depress switchhook to reconnect with your first call. 4. After third party answers, depress switchhook for a Three-Way Call. NOTE: You may privately converse with third party as long as you wish before using switchhook to establish Three-Way Call. After a Three-Way Call is established you may depress switchhook to drop third party at any time. TOLL CONTROL WITH PIN Toll Control with PIN (Personal Identification Number) allows you to prevent long distance calls from being made except by individuals who know the PIN. The original PIN must be set up with New Florence Telephone. To change your PIN number for Toll Control with PIN:
1. Press *12 to change your PIN and listen for the confirmation tone of three beeps. 2. Enter your current PIN and listen for the confirmation tone. 3. Enter your new PIN and listen for a confirmation tone. 4. Enter your new PIN again (this will confirm the accuracy of your PIN) and listen for the confirmation tone. You may change your PIN number at your convenience. To make a toll call: 1. Press *13 and enter your PIN for access to make a long distance call. 2. Press # (or wait for a confirmation tone). 3. Dial the number. NOTE: Toll Control with PIN only works with a touch tone phone; it will not work with a rotary phone. UNIDENTIFIED CALL REJECTION Unidentified Call Rejection allows you to refuse calls from those who have blocked their numbers. Your phone will not ring. It will automatically route incoming calls marked as “private” or “blocked” to an announcement indicating that you do not accept private or blocked calls. To activate Unidentified Call Rejection: 1. Listen for the dial tone. 2. Press *77 (rotary 1177). 3. An announcement indicates that the Unidentified Call Rejection feature has been activated. 4. Hang up. To deactivate Unidentified Call Rejection: 1. Press *87 (rotary 1187) and listen for an announcement indicating that the feature has been deactivated. NOTE: Unidentified Call Rejection may not work with all long distance carriers. WAKE UP SERVICE Wake Up Service allows you to program a daily wake up or reminder call. At the requested time a call is placed to you. When you lift the receiver you will hear a tone. If your line is busy or you do not answer the call immediately, Wake Up Service will attempt to call you two more times at seven minute intervals. Wake Up Service will allow the phone to ring 10 times on each attempt. To activate Wake Up Service:
1. Press #76 and listen for a confirmation tone followed by a steady dial tone. 2. Enter the time you wish to have a wake up or reminder call. The time must be entered in the HHMM format military time, for example, if you wish to receive a call at 6:45 a.m. you will need to enter 0645 or if you wish to receive a call at 7:30 p.m. you will need to enter 1930. To deactivate Wake Up Service: 1. Press #77 and listen for the confirmation tone. NOTE: You must reactivate your wake up/reminder call after each use. Wake Up Service requires a touch tone phone; it will not work with a rotary phone. WARM LINE Warm Line allows you to automatically call a pre-selected number whenever the handset has been picked up and remains up without dialing for 20 seconds. During an emergency, Warm Line allows you to alert someone without needing to dial or remember the number. To use Warm Line: 1. Lift the handset and wait. You will be connected to the number you have pre-selected. 2. If you wish to dial another party, you may dial any other number before the time allotment for Warm Line. NOTE: Cordless phones may require pressing a “talk” button to activate Warm Line. The pre-selected number must be ordered from New Florence Telephone. New Florence Telephone must be notified when the pre-selected number needs to be changed. CUSTOMER PROPRIETARY NETWORK INFORMATION In order for New Florence Telephone Company to tell which customers may benefit from new and enhanced services, we will use information about your account that is within our databases, or Customer Proprietary Network Information (CPNI), unless you restrict that use. faster STREAMING broadband
Go ahead—stream as much as you like.
Some providers claim to support video streaming, but will cap how much you can download each month. They may even charge you data overages or throttle (intentionally reduce) your speed if you watch too much. NFTC is the only provider in New Florence that will give you true unlimited bandwidth, so you can stream as much online video as you want, in full HD quality.
