New video-optimised standard wide-angle zoom lens for PEN & Micro Four Thirds compact system cameras Olympus has today announced the launch of a new high-performance standard wide-angle zoom lens designed for high-grade video recording and still image shooting. Compatible with Olympus PEN and all Micro Four Thirds compact system cameras, it is also the world’s first splash-proof and dust-proof Micro Four Thirds system lens.
M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12-50mm f3.5-6.3 EZ (silver and black versions shown)
The M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12-50mm f3.5-6.3 EZ benefits from a motorised zoom mechanism to enable a smooth and constant-rate lens zooming action, required in professional digital-film recording applications. An improved version of Olympus’ MSC (Movie & Still Compatible) high-speed autofocus lens drive mechanism, made possible with a newly developed linear drive motor, provides enhanced auto-focusing performance.
The 24-100mm (35mm film format equivalent) focal length provides super wide-angle to short-telephoto shooting capability, giving it superb credentials as a versatile standard zoom lens. Sophisticated glass and multi-coating technologies, including Olympus’ proprietary Dual Super Aspherical lens technology, have been utilised to provide outstanding optical performance. A floating 1
lens design also optimises internal lens element positioning, which maximises zoom and focus performance at all capture distances. Its non-telescoping lens barrel is fully sealed against dust and moisture. Feature highlights: 1. 24-100mm range (35mm camera equivalent) 2. Motorised zoom mechanism for smooth, constant rate zooming 3. MSC focus-drive mechanism enhanced by new linear motor for faster, smoother AF performance 4. Special macro mode for close up shooting at up to 0.72x magnification (35mm camera equivalent) 5.
Dust- and splash-proof
The M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12-50mm f3.5-6.3 EZ, available in black or silver, is due for release in mid-January 2012.
