Workflow automation solutions for broadcast and cable news Telestream’s FlipFactory transcoding automation applications are the quick, powerful, scalable way to automatically convert formats and transfer media. By providing all-digital file transfer, FlipFactory streamlines your workflow, eliminating the need for digital-toanalog conversions, manual metadata entry and cumbersome handling of tape, just to get your media to its destinations. FlipFactory transfers media and metadata between leading professional systems, such as broadcast servers, cable VOD servers, editing systems and streaming servers. Now, Telestream has expanded the FlipFactory family to include support for news delivery services and popular newsroom systems.
Telestream’s FlipFactory News was developed specifically to ingest and move news content between news systems used at broadcast facilities. FlipFactory News supports multiple ingest sources, including the Pathfire Digital Media Gateway (DMG) server, BitCentral’s MediaPipe News delivery, Telestream ClipMail delivery systems, FTP servers, and legacy video servers and edit systems. With drag-and-drop simplicity, FlipFactory News automatically ingests, converts and delivers your incoming news content and associated metadata directly to your play-to-air server or newsroom system in the format required by each. Newsroom systems currently supported include Avid, Thomson Grass Valley, Pinnacle and Sony. FlipFactory News provides an easy, automated singlestep transfer process, eliminating the need for manual intervention by your station personnel.
Telestream’s FlipFactory NewsManager offers all the file transfer capabilities of FlipFactory News plus the ability to automatically create low-resolution proxies – in the exact format required by your proxy news editing system. Systems currently supported include Avid Media Browse and Grass Valley NewsBrowse. In addition, FlipFactory NewsManager can be used to convert your news content into popular streaming formats, such as Windows Media, Real and QuickTime. Resulting streaming files are then automatically delivered to your Web servers. FlipFactory NewsManager replaces the need for a costly hardware encoder and eliminates the need to use a valuable router port. Since it is file-based, NewsManager also delivers important metadata to the proxy edit system. And, it can tell the proxy edit system where the high-resolution version of your news content is located. For Avid users, the optional FlipFactory TransferManager plug-in automatically imports media into the Avid Unity media network or to an Avid editing system via the Avid Unity TransferManager – in the required native Avid OMF/DV format, eliminating the need for a separate import step.
