Brodie, Loges, Jezza, Johno, Will, Benny and late inclusion Isaac, did the Tigers proud. From all reports Jade Collier in the 12’s played some dashing football. Not getting a good picture on your TV, can’t tune all the new channels in properly or wanting to mount the new flat screen on the wall. For all your antenna needs, call Jason Lavery (son Noah in U15) on 0402.440.548. As you can see from the list of sponsors in this newsletter you get great exposure to over 100 families in the area. Tony Ryan who heads up the sponsorship has a goal that every player will have a football to take home with them to practice with their mates and parents. The high grade Sherrin footballs that we purchase cost $40.00 but with the teams getting sponsored, we can sell the balls for just $10.00. President’s Report People and relationships matter. A wet and windy day greeted all the players and families this week and by all accounts things ran pretty smoothly, especially with the U15’s playing at Shellharbour. So a big thank you to all the volunteers over the weekend. In regards to the Sherrin footies, unfortunately we are still waiting on some numbers and I will be able to pick them up hopefully next week. The training singlets should not be too far away either, so I apologies for the delay in getting these organised. We are also looking at some of the proceeds from the upcoming raffle to be used to buy some more equipment to be sent over. 4 Tiger Talk - Official newsletter of the Northern Districts Tigers Junior AFC This week’s winner was Joanne Turnville, Kealan’s mum from the under 13’s who correctly answered that Toby Collier was our rep player in the U 12’s. Joanne has been to the North Break Café and rates their vegie burger as the best she had ever had. One day I might actually try a vegie burger. The Lions were lucky enough to get a couple of soft frees which put them in good field position and they capitalised with a couple of goals. So coming into the last quarter, we were about 3 goals down but the boys did not give up hope of a come from behind victory. Round 7 - Tigers Vs Wollongong Lions On the last Sunday of Autumn, Winter felt not far away with the freshness in the air but the sun was out and it was another great turn out with our team having 16 eager Tigers to take on the Lions. It was a very even contest and our defence was holding up well led by Austin & Matt in the key posts and the midfield lending a hand to negate many of the Lions forward thrusts. Joe was running the ball well out of the back line, with Xavier always dependable on making a contest, even if he was outnumbered. Josh & Max were starting to work their way into the game and growing in confidence with Max almost scoring a great goal. Kai & Fletcher were giving their all through the midfield with Ethan and Lucas working into the game in various parts of the field. Lorcan was also a solid contributor up forward and the signs were there that the Tigers were on top. A nice goal to Max followed quickly by a goal to Braydo and suddenly the game was in the balance. However, unfortunately the siren beat us and ended our barnstorming finish and an agonising 3 point loss was the result. It was clear that the boys were not getting any favours from the referees but that didn’t phase them one bit and they played the game on its merits and gave their all against the odds. Toby kicked the only goal in the first half but a very valuable goal which kept us in the contest. However, if this 4 quarter performance is maintained each week, then I can definitely see some wins coming in the second half of the season. The midfield was led strongly by Owen who had leather poisoning & Marcus who continued to find more of the footy as the game wore on. Braydo was winning plenty of contested footy but was struggling to find any space with the footy and Noah was a solid contributor until a high tackle which forced him from the field. Thanks to Blair from the U9’s who came on to replace Noah for a short while. Player of the match went to Owen who battled tirelessly through the midfield and created many attacks forward. A close 2nd was Marcus who grew an extra leg in the 2nd half and really found confidence in the midfield. The Golden Boot went to Max who made a nice contribution up forward and after a falcon to the head from the footy, recovered well and was a livewire up forward. Great to see you back playing AFL Max. Similar to the Figtree game a couple of weeks back, there were no easy contests, as our team was playing nice and tight footy and giving away no easy footy to 2016 Executives and Officials Executives President Tony Ryan Secretary Terrie Ryan Vice President Treasurer Registrar Officials Kristy Collier Peter Mott Merchandising Jo Seager Gear Steward Coaching Co-ord. Round 9 – Tigers vs Southern Highlands Hawks Player of the match was a tough one this week as it was such a TEAM EFFORT but I ended up deciding upon Marcus (Captain for the day) who battled hard all day long in defense and also created many attacks forward when thrown in the midfield late in the game. The Golden Boot went to Braydo who made a nice contribution up forward with 2 great goals. Other goal kickers were Nick & Noah. The forecast for the Sunday was not great but thankfully the rain held off and the boys were ready for a tough battle against the Hawks. The first quarter signs were fantastic with the Tigers dominating possession but failing to convert their opportunities into goals. It was very pleasing to see the pressure the boys were applying all over the ground and being rewarded by getting in first for the footy in the wet conditions. However, we finished off well in the 2nd quarter, with Noah doing a magnificent left foot snapper goal and almost finishing off with a banana kick goal after the siren right on half time. See you all at training Thursday and we play Port Kembla at home this week at 10:10am. After this game, we have a 2 week layoff for a Representative round and then another week for the school holidays so the following game after Port Kembla is not until the 17th July. Please let me know if you are unavailable this week so I can organise team sheets before the weekend. The midfield led by Owen, Nick & Braydo dominated possession and propelled many attacks forward and continued to tackle hard all day long. Also, the backline was served admirably by Joe & Marcus, who were running the ball out well and sending some nice long kicks to the midfielders and stopping many of the Hawks attacking efforts. Toby, Lorcan, Matthew & Jai were doing their roles well around the ground all day wherever they played and Lucas was gaining in confidence picking up many tough possessions in tight but never shirked the issue. Ray White Woonona, is a long established local business (over 25 years) that excels in producing extraordinary results for our loyal clientele. Our priority at all times is to achieve the highest possible price for our vendors. I must say that I was very proud of our little rovers Josh, Max & Hugh who played well when in the forward line and played well above their weight. Hugh layed a fantastic tackle against a much bigger opponent and was justifiably rewarded with a free kick. He also nearly kicked a great goal. Josh & Max were at times outnumbered by Hawks players but always made a strong contest to hold the ball in our forward line until help came. Ben played some great footy throughout the day and also when he played for the opposition. The Ray White image is a “brand” that both buyers and sellers trust! Thanks to Ben, Hugh, Lorcan & Josh who all played one quarter each for the Hawks. The last quarter the team played some great defense holding the Hawks out and coming out deserved winners by 15 points. It was great to hear the boys ROAR out the Tiger song for the first time this season (with a few of the new boys still learning the words!!). Great to see the boys listening more to instructions and seeing the development and Please contact Rick or Troy to ensure you get the best price for your house or investment property. Call (02) 42 84 8888 7 Tiger Talk - Official newsletter of the Northern Districts Tigers Junior AFC kicked away by getting a few charity calls from the Umps. It was ugly to watch. Our defence was steady all day. Our normal game plan was forgotten which made us look like a B grade side. Three quarter time came and I said “Well boys, there is only one thing I need to say. You need to kick goals. I will leave up to you guys”. LiveMore Homes will continue to be the leader with design, guidance, expertise and solutions in the home building market for its customers. Working together, gives us all value and satisfaction as we see our creations become award winning homes. We had the ball in our forward line for the entire quarter for no score. I made a change, swapping our CHF Kaelan Sidebottom with our CHB Ciaran Flynn with 6 minutes to go. Thinking the game was done and dusted Ciaran kicked a goal from a tight angle in the pocket. The boys all cheered and knew they could smell a win. Ball back in the centre, we got the break down to the half forward line and Ciaran slotted his second in two minutes. Ian Chapman was born in the Illawarra, Bulli Hospital to be exact. After 10 years in the building industry, he started his own building company back in the early 90's. In 2013, LiveMore Homes was created. The relationships he has formed over the past several years with suppliers and trades means he can maintain his buying power without the restrictions of a franchise to hold him back. We are 4 points ahead. We stacked their backline and held strong to come home with the points. Very lucky win but we will take it. Ian's goal is simple; to create excellent homes that make you proud and our egos soar. We're small enough to take real pride in each and every job we do, yet agile enough to take on projects of all sizes. Final Score Tiger 2.5.17 to Swans 2.1.13 "Over the years I have always found it a real thrill driving past houses I have built and watching clients turn their houses into a home" Ian Chapman. Ciaran Flynn was awarded the Golden Fist with his two goals. As coach, all I can say is: if we can win by playing awful footy - just imagine what we could do if we stuck to our game plan. Ian was a player for the Tigers back in his sporting days. Contact on 02 4225 1555. www.livemorehomes.com.au One area of our game I was so pleased with was our defence. Sides can't get it past our boys. We are getting stronger in this area each week. Under 13’s Match Report Well done boys. Redemption No. 2 Go Tigers!!!! Playing at Hollymount, the boys get excited and up against the Shellharbour Swans for the third time this season, they knew we were up for a fight. Canteen Duty We are at home again next week so assistance will be needed in the Canteen/BBQ to make everything run smoothly. It would be greatly appreciated if you could please speak to your Manager/Coach to see what help is needed. In the past two encounters we lost by 6 and 4 points and I explained to the boys it was our time. With rain steadily falling throughout the game the ball was like a cake of soap. The play was scrappy but a positive was we had the ball in our forward line for at least 80% of the game. We couldn't kick a goal to save ourselves. The Swans 8 Since desig acce We prof and ocea upda best Toda genr sailin spor Ph: Tiger Talk - Official newsletter of the Northern Districts Tigers Junior AFC debut with the Storm, continued his good form picking up possessions at will. Damo once again proved a target up forward whilst Loges as always, managed to shrug his opponent and create space. Brodie was in and under a heap of packs dishing the ball out to his team mates. Despite the conditions, the backs with Haydo’s were solid as ever and the run of Sammy and Tait giving run off ½ back. Home Loans Whether you are a first home buyer, upsizing or downsizing, changing location or a property investor, Victory Financial Services (VFS) can assist in helping you choose the best loan for your circumstances. Riley again continues to show improvement each week and despite the conditions, played well again. Ryan Fletcher was one of the best and said he just loved the conditions. The Tigers played some really good team footy and with the ability to switch the ball and create the space that is needed on a wet day, the Swans never really troubled them and were able to run out comfortable winners 10.9.69 to 2.6.18. Great to see the kids play some old fashioned wet weather footy and relishing in the conditions and still on top of the ladder. If you thought it was wet and wild at Hollymount, the vast open spaces of Shellharbour were even wetter and windier. The 15’s have been hit hard with injuries to the two Noah’s, Keago unavailable, and the absent travelling Nicko, Tyson and Joey. With the 13’s at home, we were without the usual suspects of Jezza, Cairon, Jack and Benny. So with just 14 taking the field, the lack of numbers and weather were going to be a challenge.
