Chatter Newsletter — August 2012 The summer has flown by here and school has already started in my neighborhood grade schools. We know you are busy or are about to get very busy so we will try to keep this short.
PapooTouch and PapooTouch+ There is a new member of the PapooTouch family, where switch access and handheld AAC come together. The new PapooTouch+ includes scanning capabilities within Grid Player with one or two switches. Use any of the scanning selection methods – auto-scan, step scan, inverse scan (hold to advance), linear scan, row-column, and column-row. Try the PapooSwitch with the PapooTouch+ if you need a very sensitive motion or proximity switch for your clients. There is also a new carry case to protect the PapooTouch or PapooTouch+. We have packages available with either device plus The Grid 2 for editing PapooTouch Grid Player pages on your Windows PC.
Optimist MMX-3 In case you did not yet know this, the Optimist MMX-3 is shipping and selling well. Most of the units sold so far have been the Optimist MMX-3C with The Grid 2 installed. The form factor is identical to the Optimist MMX-2, but carries many internal improvements you will notice as soon as you turn it on. The prices for Optimist MMX-3 based devices went up slightly. We tried to keep that increase to a minimum, and hope our customers still see it as a great price for a full Windows 7 power PC with loud volume and switch access for AAC/SGD products. This is the perfect communication system for students and adults alike. Available with or without AAC software.

The Grid 2 — U.S. release After many years, The Grid 2 now supports American English as a separate language to British English! Installing the new version of the program will add the English (United States) language files and new versions of the U.S. grid sets that use this language. Selecting English (United States) as the language for a grid set will give you predictions, spell checking, verb morphology, symbol searches, and other language tools with American English spelling. If you would like to upgrade to the American English version of the program, please contact us to request a new installation CD. Installing the new The Grid 2 when it is already installed will add new features such as new languages and grid sets. It will not delete or overwrite any of your existing languages or grid sets.
Other Sensory Software program titles The time has come to say goodbye to many of the Sensory Software program titles. AllWrite, ProtoType, Reader, Switch Friendly Games, and Windbag 3 have been discontinued and will no longer be supported. We will do our best to help you for as long as we can as we know these have been valuable to you.
The new ZYGO Voice Amplifier (O85) We have switched to the new ZYGO Voice Amplifier with great results. We have had no problems with this newer version and hope you find it works well for you and your clients. The part numbers have changed slightly from the previous model to 039-0597-xx, the unit comes standard with a Headset mic, and the price remains the same as it has been.
