The compact design, and compelling price points make these routers a great solution for a wide variety of applications from standalone single matrix to larger multi-matrix systems. MID-SIZE Mid-sized routers, 64x64 and 72x72 are modular and expandable in groups of 8 inputs and 8 outputs. They include 3G SDI, Multi-Definition SDI, Standard-Definition SDI, AES/EBU Digital Audio and Stereo Analog Audio signal types. These routers fill a unique niche in a demanding, yet price sensitive, segment of the market. The modular design lends itself to future growth and serviceability. LARGE FACILITY The large NK-3G144 and NK-3G320 routers are scalable and designed to function in mission critical, high availability environments. Each use a common set of I/O boards and can be expanded in groups of 8 inputs and outputs to either 144x144 or 320x320 depending on the frame size. These systems are fully 3G compliant and will pass SD, HD and 3G signals in addition to ASI and SDTI. A key feature of these matrices is superior redundancy. Both are architected to be equipped with fully redundant power supplies, dual redundant crosspoints and dual redundant control cards. Instead, each device operates independently and communicates with other NK Series devices over the T-Bus RS-485 communication network. T-Bus uses a highly reliable, field proven collision detection system to manage traffic on the network. Control panels, matrices and other NK Series devices are added to the T-Bus network in a daisy chain configuration. The NK-IPS Network Bridge offers 8 buffered T-Bus ports which provide a way to isolate portions of the T-Bus control network as well as a TCP/IP Ethernet port which allows system configuration from a PC via a simple web page. Simply point a web browser to the NK-IPS Network Bridge and the configuration web page will appear. Ethernet In more sophisticated systems, the Phoenix Control Surface, a graphical user interface for control and set up of all the NK Devices in the system can be added. This software replaces the web browser configuration method and offers a more visual and comprehensive ability to configure and monitor the system. The NK-VRC or VCORE controller is a control system addition that adds virtual routing to an NK System. VCORE provides flexibility in the way sources can be tied together between multiple levels. Other control system components include protocol converters (to connect to 3rd party routing systems), a GPI Interface, an automation interface and interfaces to legacy Kondor systems and control panels. 1 1 NK SERIES SYSTEM OVERVIEW 8 24 16 SOURCES 16 24 SOURCES 8 RCP-NK1 1 8 16 24 32 32 RCP-NKM 32 1 16 24 32 1 8 RCP-NKQ 1 8 16 24 DESTINATIONS 32 32 24 16 SOURCES 1 8 16 32 8 DESTINATIONS 24 SOURCES DESTINATIONS 1 8 16 24 32 DESTINATIONS LEGEND Unused Crosspoints PARTITIONING Each NK Series matrix can be configured with up to 8 partitions, effectively making two or more smaller routers from one larger one. Each partition can be assigned to a unique or common switching level. As an example, a single analog video matrix could be partitioned into 3 sections to switch YUV or RGB signals. ROUTER PARTITIONING The example at top shows crosspoint assignments when a 32 x 32 router is partitioned. The image displays a 32 x 32 router with no partitions (top left); a 32 x 32 router partitioned as two 16 x 16 routers (top right); a 32 x 32 router partitioned as three 10 x 10 routers (lower left); and a 32 x 32 router partitioned as four 8 x 8 routers (lower right). CONTROL PANELS The NK Series offers 3 highly flexible, yet simple and intuitive control panels that can be configured to operate in a wide variety of ways. Every control panel in the system can be independently configured to meet the needs of the particular operator position at which it is deployed. Virtual routing is an important requirement in larger routing systems, especially those with multiple levels. The NK-VRC offers up to 1,000 each virtual sources and destinations. • Requires Phoenix Control Surface • Optional redundant power • 5 year warranty Virtual routing refers to the ability to assign physical sources and destinations to virtual sources and destinations. Without the NK-VRC, inputs 1 on each level are tied to each other; for example, Video input 1 is tied to Audio input 1. Adding the NK-VRC allows these levels to be flexibly assigned, for example Video input 1, and Audio input 2 can be tied to each other. This allows flexible wiring of sources and destinations to the various levels of the router and best flexibility in terms of setting the system up for easy use. Physical inputs and outputs can be assigned to more than one virtual label, resulting in a virtual routing table (physical source / destination and level combinations) larger than the actual system size.
