have made it super easy for users to swap-out HDDs as the HDD tray is located on the front and hidden behind a push cover. We are definitely fans of easy access and we are sure users will be too as the V8 doesn’t just work as a media player but also doubles as a Network Attached Storage. Not only will users be able to stream media from computers on the same network but they will be able to download their favorite shows and movies via BitTorrent, FTP and more, directly onto the HDD. To set these features up, users will have to rely on a web-based UI from a computer. It isn’t too difficult and is quite straight-forward. Users with a little bit of experience should be able to set it up with ease. Another nice feature that comes with the web UI is the virtual remote control, which allows you to control the V8 virtually. As for the V8’s very own userinterface, it is nicely designed and very user-friendly. We liked the fact that icons are nice and large and text is easy to read. The UI is also quite snappy and doesn’t take too long to load. The only thing we didn’t quite like is typing with

the wireless remote control as it doesn’t have a QWERTY keyboard; so typing is a bit of a hassle. Like previous Noontec products we have tested before, we have to say that Noontec has done quite a good job with the MovieHome V8. It played most of our test files flawlessly and these covered the majority of file formats mentioned on its spec sheet. So, for individuals who have been waiting for a feature-filled yet affordable media player, the Noontec MovieHome V8 may just be the one to satisfy you.

Noontec is fast becoming a well-known brand in the industry as they continue to produce good quality devices at affordable prices. One of the areas we find them focusing on is the media player segment which is a good thing as it continues to grow rapidly. This month, we got to try out a more conventional media player, the MovieHome V8. In terms of design, the V8 is not fancy but is decent looking. For its size, it is quite slim and lightweight but may be a tad too bulky to be portable. However, we do like the overall design as it has what most users will need. The ports on the back are all nicely aligned and it even comes with a USB3 port. While this feature does provide high-speed data transfers, users may be slightly disappointed as it is a Type-B connector, so it will only be able to connect to computers and not external HDDs or USB flash drives. Besides the ports on the back, there is also another USB2 port and 2-in-1 card reader on the right side of the device. Like most media players, the V8 can also be equipped with a HDD and Noontec
