On the wall to the left of the lectern are two switches for the screens – the left switch controls the small screen and the other one the large screen. Shutdown 1. Shut down computer if used 2. Note: Shutting down the lectern power before shutting off the projector causes a problem. If you don’t shut down the computer at the SP first, the projector remains on, burning lamp hours. RemotePoint RF The RemotePoint RF is a wireless mouse and takes a bit of practice to get used to it. You do not have to point it at the screen or rack and it works up to 100’ from the rack. If it doesn’t seem to work, follow the directions inside the battery compartment to reset the channel which is printed on top of the unit under the Albion College inventory tag. There are a few places which have the combo kits which include both the mouse and wireless keyboard. Some lecterns have the new KeySpan presenters tool. Presenters are encouraged to obtain their own Bluetooth presenter’s remotes as all carts and lecterns are equipped with extra USB ports. 1 Last Updated: September 26, 2014 Guest Laptop Setup The guest ports for laptops and audio/video devices are located on the lectern on the right side. Connect the VGA and audio cables to your laptop and start it. When you connect the other end of the VGA cable to the guest port, the Altinex switcher automatically projects the guest laptop image to the active projector as long as the AUTO button is active on the switcher (bottom photo). If AUTO is not active, simply press the button on the right to display your computer. Cables and the remote microphone are stored in the drawer in the right rack unit. Visualizer Setup Move the document camera cart in from the storeroom and connect the AV cable to the AV guest port on the lectern. Switch the SP control panel to the Aux Video device to project. Lighting Controls Light controls are on the wall behind the lectern as shown in this picture and there are simple on/off switches located just inside the two upper doors. The buttons on the control behind the lectern have been programmed to provide progressive lighting over the rows from front to back. Experiment to determine the best lighting button to use for your audience. The switch on the right side of the screen channel raises and lowers the lecture blackboards. Cable TV Cable TV is accessed by selecting VCR on either SP control panel and using the channel up or down buttons on the DVD/VCR combo deck to show the channel you want. Please return the DVD/VCR deck channel selection to a channel below #1 – should be “Line 1” or “Line 2”. 2 Last Updated: September 26, 2014 Using the Microphone System Press Red button to raise it for MIC ON. Plug cable in if unplugged. Lectern mic vol – 11:00 position Master vol – 11:00 position. Check power buttons Power button ON. Power button ON. Power button ON. Known Problems Severe hum or audio feedback present   Turn lectern mike off at mike and/or lower the volume on the mixer knob labeled Lectern microphone o Start with volume control at about the 10:00 o’clock position o The red button on the base of the microphone should be pressed down Leave the power amp ON With these three things addressed, hum should be at a tolerable level. Hum cannot be reduced completely for two reasons.   The fish tank water pump power box in the room next to the lectern (old physics store-room) is very loud even with the door closed. In the room directly behind the screens is the dimmer box which has a fan running - it is also very loud inside that room. Since the dimmer box is mounted on the same wall as the screen, some of the hum transfers into the lecture hall. I selected VCR to play a tape and I get a cable channel. The channel selection on the DVD/VCR deck was left on a cable channel by a previous presenter.  Press the channel selector button on the DVD’/VCR deck to locate a channel below #1 – should be “Line 1” or “Line 2”. 3 Last Updated: September 26, 2014
