Nortel Communication Server 1000M A complete, business-class IP telephony solution bringing the feature and service capabilities of Meridian 1 voice solutions to a converged IP network, with proven resilience and new scalability. Available as new, or an upgrade from Meridian 1, Nortel Communication Server 1000M offers you the freedom to move to an IP solution at your own pace. Is it for you? Moving to or adding a new site? Modernising your data network? Need to replace your old PBX? Keen to introduce new working practices such as flexible working? If the answer’s yes to any of these questions, Nortel CS 1000M could be the solution for you.
Benefits and features Nortel CS 1000M provides an open platform for industry-leading applications and features, plus business-grade reliability, investment protection, global availability and support. When you add IP Telephony to one or more sites in your company’s network, IP users working in remote offices or at home can access the full range of hosted features and applications. Add a signalling server and Nortel CS 1000 4.5 software to your Meridian, and it too can become a powerful, IP PBX – Nortel CS 1000M. Save money, improve performance • Save installation and running costs through simplified management and the common infrastructure for voice and data • Simplify and reduce the costs of cabling of a new building. Because telephones and PCs share the same infrastructure, you only need one cable connection at the desktop
Nortel CS 1000M provides smart, scalable, network-wide IP telephony solutions for: • technology refresh • Upgrade your Meridian 1 (Option 11C, 61C, 81C) into a pure IP PBX • Add IP Telephony to an existing network • Take advantage of a single cabling architecture for both voice and telephony when refurbishing your office or upgrading your WAN/LAN infrastructure.
A recent survey by Philips Infotech in the US found that IP telephony systems were delivering operational savings of up to 30% • Cut out unnecessary and costly travel and eliminate little used desk and floor space with IP enabled remote and flexible working • Boost morale and productivity. Flexible working can improve the work life balance of employees, making them more productive.
*Succession Enterprise has been renamed Nortel Communication Server 1000 (CS 1000)

Benefits and features continued
How it works
• Nortel CS 1000M (optionally redundant) uses the successful and robust UNIX VxWorks real-time operating system to ensure optimum reliability. Each Branch Office Gateway is also survivable with automatic back up over the public network in the event of WAN network congestion or failure.
Nortel CS 1000M Communication Server is available in three formats.
Comprehensive range of business applications • Transform your business, with powerful, collaborative working tools to boost productivity and service quality • Nortel CS 1000M supports an impressive range of integrated applications for unified messaging, IP contact centres, CRM applications, audio conference services, one-numberfind-me services and personal management applications – plus the full range of open interfaces for third party applications. Outstanding investment protection • Nortel CS 1000M delivers the latest web portal applications and management solutions developed for Meridian 1; the Intelligent Peripheral Equipment (IPE) cards in the Media Gateway 1000, and the full software feature suite of Meridian 1.
