Power off computer, monitor, and video display device to which scan converter will be connected. 2. Connect scan converter to IBM-compatible computer. a. Connect mini DIN-8 connector (round end) of VGA In/Out cable to scan converter (VGA IN). b. Disconnect video cable from back of computer. c. Connect other end of VGA In/Out cable (PC) to 15-pin D female connection of computer (MONITOR). 9. Laptop/Notebook computers only: If necessary, press VGA toggle key combination. Refer to computer user manual for settings. Key combinations used by several major manufacturers: • • • • Fn+F8 Fn+F10 (or F5) Fn+F10 Fn+F5 (or F7) Dell Fujitsu Sony Toshiba Video display device and monitor should now display same image. 3. Connect 15-pin male IBM VGA cable (already connected to monitor) to scan converter (TO MONITOR). 4. Connect scan converter to video display device. IBM-Compatible Computer Using S-VHS cable (preferred, if available) a. Connect one end of cable to scan converter (S-VHS). PC b. Connect other end of cable to S-VHS connection on video display device. Using RCA cable a. Connect one end of cable to scan converter (VIDEO). VGA In/Out Cable 15 pin (M) 2 Scan Converter 6 Mini DIN-8 NTSC – + b. Connect other end of cable to video-in connection on video display device. 5. Connect scan converter to power. PAL TO MONITOR VGA IN S-VHS VIDEO DC 9V IN a. Connect DC connector to scan converter (DC 9V IN). b. Plug 9 V adapter into wall socket. Scan converter power-on indicator lights up. 6. Move NTSC/PAL switch to appropriate position for TV standard in your country. 7. Power on computer, then power on video display device(s) and monitor (refer to scan converter’s user guide for additional information). 8. Power on computer, then power on video display device(s) and monitor (refer to scan converter’s user guide for additional information). 2. Connect scan converter to Macintosh-compatible computer. 8. Change Macintosh monitor setting per instructions in scan converter user guide. a. Connect mini DIN-8 connector (round end) of VGA In/Out cable to scan converter (VGA IN).* 9. Set video display device to correct video input (using setup menu built into display device). b. Connect other end of VGA In/Out cable (PC) to 15-pin female end of MAC Output adapter (VGA Out). Video display device and monitor should now display same image. c. Disconnect Macintosh video cable from back of computer. d. Connect other end of MAC Output adapter (MAC In) to 15-pin D female connection on back of computer (MONITOR). * Note for PowerBook Users: PowerBook computers include a video cable adapter that converts the computer’s high-density video connector to a standard DB-15 female connector. Connect 15-pin male end (PC) of VGA In/Out cable directly to this adapter. It is unnecessary to use the MAC Output adapter supplied with this product. VGA-Capable Mac 3. Connect scan converter to VGA-capable monitor. Mac D 15 pin (M) MAC In Note: Skip this step if using a laptop/notebook computer without an external VGA monitor. Mac Output Adapter PC VGA 15 pin (F) VGA Out PC To Macintosh-compatible monitor VGA In/Out Cable 15 pin (M) a. Connect 15-pin male Macintosh video cable (already connected to monitor) to MAC monitor adapter. b. Connect other end of MAC monitor adapter to scan converter (TO MONITOR). 2 Scan Converter To VGA monitor NTSC – + 6 a. Connect 15-pin male Macintosh VGA cable (already connected to monitor) to scan converter (TO MONITOR). Mini DIN-8 PAL TO MONITOR VGA IN S-VHS VIDEO DC 9V IN MAC 4. Connect scan converter to video display device. Using S-VHS cable (preferred, if available) a. Connect one end of cable to scan converter (S-VHS). b. Connect other end of cable to S-VHS connection on video display device. 3 Adapter Mac D 15 pin (M) Not needed if connecting to VGA monitor Monitor Cable 5 Polarized 9 V Power Adapter Connect to Wall Socket -OR- 4 Video to Display Device Connect S-VHS (preferred) or RCA cable, but not both Using RCA cable a.
