One Size Fits Most Applications November 2008 Universal this and universal that. Everything can’t be universal. But one product that is universal and that you will be glad you had on your truck or in your toolbox is our 21D64-2 Universal Ignitor Upgrade Kit. It’s the heating season and no-heat calls are urgent...and fast solutions can be critical. No heat due to a broken ignitor should be an easy service call. You are prepared because you carry the 21D64-2 on your truck. You just made a customer very happy, made a quick service call, and now you’re on to the next urgent job. Nitride ignitors are proven over time to be the best and most reliable ignitor available. Tech Tip Troubleshooting mV (Millivolt) Gas Valves Each electrical connection in the heating system (thermostat, limit devices, etc.) adds resistance, as does the length of wire to the thermostat. The power generator must be capable of producing enough current to overcome the resistance and pull-in the gas valve. If the generator gets too hot from the pilot flame or main burner (more than 1400°F), it will break down the insulation inside the generator. If the connections are clean and tight and the power generator is putting out sufficient voltage — a service person would normally replace the gas valve.
