Run the Setup program located on the NPort U1110 Documentation and Software CD-ROM. Click on Next to start installing the driver. For best results, we recommend that you install the USB driver for NPort U1110 before connecting the adaptor to your computer’s USB port. 4. Click on Finish to complete the driver installation. The installation procedure described in the following sections was done on a PC running Windows 2000. If your PC is running a different version of Windows, the procedure may appear somewhat different. NPort U1110 can be connected to any upstream type “A” USB port that is on the PC host or on an upstream hub. NPort U1110 is hot pluggable, meaning there is no need to power down your computer prior to installation. After installing the driver, connect the NPort U1110 to an upstream host or hub. The Found New Hardware wizard will locate the appropriate drivers automatically. Once the drivers are found, various windows will pop up as NPort U1110’s serial port is being installed. 2. Click on Next to install the driver in the indicated folder. When the Found New Hardware wizard finishes installing NPort U1110, use the operating system’s Device Manager to check and/or modify the port settings. The new COM port will be listed under Ports (COM & LPT) (see Section 4 for details). Product Limitation Data transfer may be blocked when transferring large amounts of serial data over more than one NPort U1110, all of which are connected to USB 1.1 ports on the same K6 platform running Windows XP/2003. To avoid this problem, please do one of the following: • Use a PC (running Win XP/2003) that has USB 2.0 ports, or • Use a PC running Win 2000 (that has USB 1.1 ports) P/N: 18020111001 —1— —2— —3— 4.
