Registering the SCN in the License Registration Portal for New Users
Nytro™ Support Contract Registration User Guide This guide explains how to use the Advanced Software Licensing Portal to register your Support Contracts for LSI® Nytro™ Cards. NOTE
The procedures described in this document are used only to register Support Contract numbers for LSI Nytro Cards. This same portal is also used to register and activate Advanced Software Options on MegaRAID® controllers by using a purchased License Authorization Code (LAC).
The Nytro Support Contract registration process assumes that you have already purchased a Support Contract through your distributor or reseller and that you have received a Support Contract Number (SCN). To register the Support Contract for your Nytro Card, you must install the following versions, or later, of the Nytro firmware and the configuration programs that are provided with your Nytro Card:
Nytro firmware: 107.00.00.00 or higher MegaRAID Storage Manager™: 12.10.50.08 or higher MegaCLI utility: 8.05.06 StorCLI utility: 1.01.03 or higher
The following sections explain in detail how to register your SCN. If you are a new user, see Section 1, Registering the SCN in the License Registration Portal for New Users. If you are already a registered user, see Section 2, Registering the SCN in the License Registration Portal for Registered Users.

Registering the SCN in the License Registration Portal for New Users Follow these steps if you are a new user and you need to register an SCN for your Nytro Card. 1.
Go to the LSI Advanced Software License Management Portal at http://softwarelicense.lsi.com. The portal login window appears.

As a new user, enter your SCN under New users on the right side of the window and click Create Account, as shown in the following figure.

The SCN you enter on the login window appears on the Home window, as shown in the following figure. 3.
Click Activate to register your SCN.

A login window appears, as shown in the following figure. 4.
Under Register as a new user, fill in your last name and email address.

Click Submit.

A New User Registration window appears, as shown in the following figure. 6.
Fill in the required fields of the New User Registration window, and other optional fields as needed, and click Save.

The Add RAID Controller or Nytro Card window appears. 7.
Enter the name of the Nytro Card for which you are registering the Support Contract, as shown in the following figure, and click Save. If necessary, click the area to the right of the Nytro Card Name field to view names of existing Nytro Card models.

The Activate Entitlements window appears. 8.
Enter the Nytro Card Serial Number and Safe ID, as shown in the following figure. See Section 3, Finding the Serial Number and the Safe ID for Your Nytro Card, for instructions on how to find the controller serial number and the Safe ID.

Click Next.

The Software and Support Contract License Agreement window appears, as shown in the following figure. 10. Read and accept the software and Support Contract license agreement by selecting the check box, and then click Finish. Figure 7 Software and Support Contract License Agreement
The SCN registration for your Nytro Card is now complete. A summary window appears, as shown in the following figure. Figure 8 Activation Complete Summary Window

Registering the SCN in the License Registration Portal for Registered Users Follow these steps to register the Nytro Card SCN if you are already a registered user. 1.
Go to the LSI Advanced Software License Management Portal at http://softwarelicense.lsi.com. The portal login window appears.

As a registered user, enter your email address and your password in the Returning users section on the left of the window, as shown in the following figure, and click Log In.

In the Home window, enter the SCN, as shown in the following figure. Optionally, also enter the Nytro Card name.

Click Activate.

The Search or Add RAID Controllers window appears, as shown in the following figure. 5.
Enter the name of the Nytro Card in the RAID Controller or Nytro Card Name field, as shown in the following figure, and enter the serial number. See Section 3, Finding the Serial Number and the Safe ID for Your Nytro Card, for instructions on how to find the controller serial number and the Safe ID.

Click Search Controllers or Nytro Cards.

The Activate Entitlements window appears, as shown in the following figure. 7.
Enter the Safe ID for the Nytro Card.

Confirm that the selected Nytro Card is the correct one and click Next. The Software and Support Contract License Agreement appears, as shown in the following figure.

Read and accept the software and Support Contract license agreement by selecting the check box, and then click Finish.

Finding the Serial Number and the Safe ID for Your Nytro Card You must have the Serial Number and the Safe ID of your Nytro Card to register the SCN. You can use any of the provided utility programs to determine the Serial Number and Safe ID, as described in the following sections.
3.1
Finding the Serial Number and Safe ID with MegaRAID Storage Manager Follow these steps to determine the Serial Number and the Safe ID required for SCN registration using MegaRAID Storage Manager. 1.
Open MegaRAID Storage Manager. The Dashboard panel on the MSM main menu window appears, as shown in the following figure.

Perform one of the following steps. a. b.
Select Go to > Controller > Manage MegaRAID Advanced Software Options from the menu bar. Click the link Manage MegaRAID Advanced Software Options from Dashboard under the Action Portal.
The Manage MegaRAID Advanced Software Options window appears, as shown in the following figure.

Copy and paste this information into the License Activation Portal.
Finding the Serial Number and Safe ID with MegaCLI Use the following MegaCLI command to find the Serial Number required for Nytro Card SCN registration. MegaCli -AdpAllinfo -aN|-aALL| This command returns information, including the Serial Number, for the specified Nytro Card, or Nytro Cards. Use the -aN option to display information for a single card (N = controller number), or use the -aALL option to display information for all installed cards. Use this MegaCLI command to find the Safe ID required for SCN registration. MegaCli -ELF –GetSafeId –aN [N = controller number]

Finding the Serial Number and Safe ID with StorCLI Use the following StorCLI commands to find the Serial Number and the Safe ID required for Nytro Card SCN registration. storcli.exe /cx show storcli.exe /cx show safeid In both commands, indicate the controller number in place of x for the cx syntax.

Transferring an SCN to a Different Nytro Card If your Nytro Card failed and was replaced by another one during a standard RMA process, your Service Contract must be rehosted to the new Nytro Card. To complete the rehosting of the Service Contract, call the dedicated Global Service+™ Program line and provide the SCN number along with the Serial Number and SafeID number for the new Nytro Card. The 800 number is listed in the Support Contract letter that you received.
