Oil Smart® Pump and Alarm System IM 215, Rev. 1216 Installation Manual Oil Smart® Pump and Alarm System: The Oil Smart® OSS-100 System, when combined with a manual sump pump, will automatically pump water without the risk of pumping oil into the environment. Additionally, the system alerts maintenance or building personnel in the event of a high oil or high water condition. Installation of the OSS-100 allows you to comply with Elevator Code ASME A17.1 and State/ Federal regulations while reducing the risk of adverse publicity, fines and expensive cleanup costs. The system is a plug & play system that includes the Oil Smart Pump Controller, Model #OSS20PBPR6 and the Oil Smart Alarm, Model # OSA-05. Model: OSS-100 120V 60Hz. Features: • • • • • • • • • Plug & play for easy installation Includes Oil Smart® Pump Switch (OSS20PBPR6) with 20′ SJTOW cord and piggyback plug Includes Oil Smart® Alarm (OSA-05) with 10′ power cord and Liquid Smart® Alarm Switch with 20′ cord UL/CSA Certified for the United States and Canada Pump control and alarm components differentiate between oil and water 120VAC, single phase, 60 Hz. Alarm visible indicators: red beacon alarm light, yellow light for oil, white light for water, alarm test and silence buttons Alarm horn that sounds at 85 decibels at 10 feet Remote monitoring dry contacts: oil, water, high liquid www.seewaterinc.com 951.487.8073 • 888.733.9283 Email: [email protected] 121 North Dillon Avenue • San Jacinto, CA 92583 P.O. The switch and pump are not rated for explosive environments. This product is intended for hydraulic oils only. Panel Installation: 1. Determine mounting location for control panel. Mount panel using mounting hardware provided. 2. If pump is present, it is important that the alarm circuit is independent of the pump to ensure that the alarm will activate if pump circuit fails. 3. Branch circuit protection shall be provided by the installer. Components Installation: 1. The Liquid Smart® Alarm Sensor and Oil Smart® Switch shall be mounted in a clean environment, clear of mud and all metallic debris. 2. Mud or other conductive materials left on the body of the switches will hamper its operation; take effort to clean the switch prior to initial installation. 3. Mount with provided mounting brackets. Start Up: 1. To test the alarm circuit, push the test button on the front of enclosure, the audible alarm shall sound and the red beacon will light. Push the silence button to silence the alarm buzzer. 2. To test the pump control circuit, refer to pump switch testing (page 2). Oil Smart® Pump and Alarm System Installation Manual Testing: Oil Smart® Switch Operation: Normal Condition (Water Only) When water comes in contact with the short (on) sensor, the pump will turn on. The pump will remain on until water clears the long (off) sensor. Oil Present Condition If oil comes in contact with the (on) sensor, the pump will not turn on. Liquid Smart® Alarm Testing WATER Oil Smart® Pump Switch Testing OIL LAYER WATER Water (Oil Present Condition) If the water level rises enough to contact the (on) sensor under the oil layer, the pump will turn on and remain on until the (off) sensor clears of water. Oil Test: Submerge both sensors in oil and the yellow oil indicator on the front panel will light. Water Test: Submerge both sensors in water and the white water indicator on the front panel will light. Both tests will turn on the red beacon alarm light and sound the alarm buzzer. OIL LAYER WATER Place your thumb on the short sensor of the Oil Smart® Pump Switch and the pump will turn on. While touching the short “on” sensor, touch the long “off” sensor with your fingers. Remove your thumb from the on sensor and begin to move your fingers down the off sensor. Remove your fingers from off sensor and the pump will turn off. Optional: Fill up sump area with water, when water reaches the on sensor, the pump will turn on and remain on until water clears the off sensor. Typical Installation for Oil Smart® Pump Switch and Alarm System Oil Smart® Alarm Liquid Smart® Sensor High Liquid Oil Smart® Pump Switch On Off Oil Smart Control Panel Troubleshooting Guide Problem Pump Control does not activate the pump. Pump does not run. Pump Control is not operating properly; not consistent or staying on. Possible Cause Incorrect Polarity Loose connection in control panel. or electrical system. Defective Control Problem with electrical system Improper Field Wiring Control is not clean of conductive material. Improper Mounting of Components Float switch attached to pump Alarm will not activate Defective Control and/or Pump(s) Power supply failure Pump will not turn on or pump is not functioning properly. Defective Alarm Sensor Loose connection in control panel. or electrical system. Incorrect match on control panel and pump. Loose connection in control panel. or electrical system. Defective Pump(s) Solution Make sure phase and neutral are not reversed. Confirm all connections are tight and secure. Replace Control Check electrical circuits for common neutrals; may cause switch to malfunction. Do not run DC conductors through same conduit as AC conductors. White plastic case must be kept clean. Clean with household rubbing alcohol and rag. Keep control (1" to 2") clear of any metallic material. Mount to pvc pipe or if mounting to metal pipe, make sure to mount with See Water quick mount PVC bracket. Float switch must be removed, secured in manual operation, or replaced with correct pump. Replace Control and/or Pump(s) Confirm separate 120V power to circuit board. Can be jumpered from incoming power on pump terminal if 120V is available. Replace Alarm Sensor Confirm all connections are tight and secure. Confirm correct pump voltage and wires matched to correct control panel Confirm all connections are tight and secure. Replace Pump(s) Any technical questions on this product should be directed to See Water, Inc at 888-733-9283. www.seewaterinc.com or www.oilsmart.org 951.487.8073 • 888.733.9283 • Email: [email protected] 121 North Dillon Avenue • San Jacinto, CA 92583 P.O.
